I that another contest?
I hope your new wheel has dimensions similar to the G25, otherwise I would need to fine-tune some parts of my design.
Do you have an idea of the deadline? If there is some time left, I may be able to improve my entry with Inventor.
Thanks for your answer.
I totally agree with you about the way this is done, and I also think the possibility to choose which non-unicode applications have to use a specific language should be an option to set, so we can mix several languages.
Even though it will make my computer display weird things, I will try to set japanese as the default language, and see what happens.
You have a point.
I did not do mine thinking about simplicity, but thinking about the "open-wheeler feeling" aoun asked, and I think I managed to recreate this. But you're right, it is a bit complicated (especially for the keyboard support, spent a few days thinking ).
Whether I can win or not, I will soon proceed with the placement of the screws and get the exact dimensions, as it will look better after that (it is supposed to, at least).
The design itself, however, should stay as it is now (except if I find something to change).
+1, the names of the participants and pictures of their entries should be posted here, as you asked us to do so
I have some problems with japanese input in LFS.
First, I have the same problem as you had, Scawen with the question marks instead of kana and kanji. You solved it by setting japanese as the default for non-unicode applications. Is this the only way to do it? Being French, if I do this, kanji appear instead of characters like à é è etc. in other applications and some fonts become strange.
The second problem is this:
This message appears each time I select an alternative conversion for kana/kanji (with spacebar). I do not think it is related to the question marks, because it also happens when I type romaji (latin characters).
Why do you say that? I think aoun just wants to have more people taking part in this, and will probably wait some other entries (after all, it is running since last month).
I don't have a wheel myself, but I have already looked at the wheel settings in lfs, and I think there's an option to combine/separate axes. However, your problem with the steering is quite... strange
And I thought the ugly reflections (distorted etc.) were just there because of the 3D model of the cars and the smoothing of the faces... but in fact, it is due to the texture that reflects on it?
Can't wait till the new pack, it looks amazingly real!
And please take your time for your movie, it's better late and good looking
Just another question: do you drive with the shifter to your right or to your left? As you're Australian, I think it is to your left, but I'd rather have this confirmed.

Reason : typing mistake...
ABS can be turned off, too... Turning tire wear off isn't exactly the same, it would just be unrealistic, while turning ABS off is, well... something you CAN do.
A filter/option to force racing without ABS could be nice if you want to have the "racing excitment" with road-going cars.
Anyway, as a demo player, everything works for me in Z25, no probs so far.
I modified your lights a bit, Takumi, to get what I wanted (could not have done it without your help, though :razz.
Here's a screen:
I did this from your bright version, as it was easier to darken it. I changed the color of the turn signals, and spaced the tail and brake lights a bit.
Thanks again for those lights!
(and please don't play attention to my ugly skin...)
I also played with the color of the lights to get blue brake lights, green tail lights, red turn signals etc. and I noticed the headlights and reverse lights were the same.
I tried as you said, with two AI cars: a XRG and a FBM.
I changed the custom view of the FBM, leaved the options, pressed tab twice, and the view was the same, so no problem here...
Hi, I would like to ask another question: I suppose you will want to be able to reach your keyboard and mouse even when in your cockpit. So do you prefer having them below the wheel, next to, etc.? Just asking because I have trouble finding a place for them...
This time it's too dark
However we can tell the difference between the tail ligths and the brake lights better, but something halfway between the two previous attempts in brightness would be really cool.
I don't know if you will take my remark into account, but could you make the turn signals of a color similar to the ones on the sides?
Thanks anyway for these modified lights, they're good
These look great
I agree with Nicce for a little darker version, and I think I would prefer more yellow turn signals (the orange is too "violent", it would be better if it were something like the turn signals on the sides, IMO).
It's been more than a week I haven't posted an update, because I don't have much free time at the moment...
I'll be back on my design from next saturday on (maybe sooner if I'm not too busy this week...).
Do you mean something like the blueish box for the hole? http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/9118/lfscockpittest.jpg
If so, I think the difficulty would be to keep the shape, because aoun specified that the wood couldn't be curved, but if I keep the bottom-front part as it is now, I could remove the back half of it.
For the hinge, I don't understand where you would put it, and the rubber stop too, could you please explain?
Thanks anyway for the comments
Still haven't finished the rough design, because of school and I'm thinking about what would make my design better.
Here's what I've done so far: http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/5374/lfscockpit3.jpg
The holes in the sides are there to let your arm get to the shifter, because I couldn't have it to fit in the cockpit while keeping an open-wheeler look. However their size and shape aren't finalized yet. I'll also have to add some parts to increase the resistance of the overall structure, as I don't know how it will behave once it's built (if ever built, that is :razz, and that's why I'm using 2cm thick wood.
Basic measurements will come once I finished the global design, and I will proceed to have a clean thing in Inventor then.
EDIT: Just wanted to give the overall dimensions:
for the moment, I have length: 160cm, width: 88, height: 85cm.
And the part where the shifter lies is also on the left, so you can choose where you want it to be.
Very little update, I downloaded the G25 Sketchup model and converted it to use it in 3Ds Max, so I can place the wheel, shifter and pedals better. As I downloaded a full playseat, I also placed the seat. http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/3594/lfscockpit2.jpg
I am going to create my cockpit by mixing ideas I get from the image you showed in your 1st post and the one anttt69 posted, so I might take some time to finish it...
Anyway, some update will come wednesday, I think.
Decided to reply rather than edit...
Here's an idea of the position of the driver: http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/3717/lfscockpit1.jpg
Just tell me what you want me to change, the biped in the picture being 180cm tall and the lower box measuring 170cm (I think I can't do something smaller, or you would have to do some gym to fit in your cockpit :really.
I'm more than interested in this.
I think I will try to do something too, using 3Ds Max and Inventor.
Just one thing, I know there are only 2 pages on this thread, but could you please edit your 1st or 2nd post to give all informations you have about the dimensions of the wheel, pedals, distance from pedals, and also your height, preferences for wheel's position, etc?
I think that'd help people a lot.
