It makes a difference in some situations, where you want to draft straight off the grid.. Cold tyres = no grip, and uber-spinny-ness. Perhaps it would also reduce the burnouts on launches (And we know how they can end)
Yes, that's what I was going to recommend. It's what I do during long event races, I have LFs running on my machine, and my work machine next to me. Save replay, run a .bat file to copy it to my other pc, then it plays and I can watch it and penalize. Very effective.
Sorry if this has been mentioned, I had a look and couldn't see it via a search. But it would be cool to have a tyre-warmer-like option for the F1-type cars, to preheat tyres to whatever temp you want. Would make launches better, I think, and would be more realistic.
I have no idea what occoured in your situation, but if you wish to truly dispute the ban, you need to do it on our website, not the LFS Forums. We welcome well put-forth disputes against bans, and I, for one, have lifted bans following a dispute. Just don't use 'Dragons' dispute as an example of how to make these complaints.
As a final note, there is no reason whatsoever for FM admins to explain themselves on this forum, or any other forum. We will run the server how we see fit, and if we kill it, that's our problem - not yours, and not this forum's problem.
I am admin number 3 for FM, after the founders... Those who race on XSIV will know me...
Generally, safety messages/rules are posted at the end of a race (For the start of the next), or periodically during a race, when a violation of rules occours. (Somone crashes, spins in the track, the 'Shift+S or ban' message pops up).
There are 7 rule messages in use on the XSIV server. I'm more than willing to share them with you here, i fyou like.
Why do we show these? To remind people of them. People need reminding, because people forget.. Too quickly. Blue flaggers racing with leaders, sitting on the track because you are too busy saying 'you idiot' in chat... These are unexcusable, and people are removed for it.
Generally speaking, I warn once, force to spectate, then if further offences are made, I kick. Any more, and it's a 24hr ban. If you do it just to give us 'the finger', you get a week ban.

Furthermore, if you are unable or unwilling to obey rules, you should go elsewhere. And if you don't like being reminded of the rules, go elsewhere. And I, for one, am fed up of people saying "These people aren't fair". You do not pay for the use of our server, so bear in mind it is a privilidge, not a 'right'. You have no 'right' to play, we simply allow you to.
We have a regular contigent of drivers on the XSIV server who are fully capable of obeying rules, and enjoy the racing. We run private servers for these drivers, in a pleasent environment, with no mass-rule posting, and no multi-restarts due to incapable launchers. XSIV server is like it is because of the ones who are unable to drive properly. Blame them, not us.
There are many teams who use our server and throughally enjoy the experience. If you don't like it, find another server, and don't waste our time with your complaining about 'abuse of admin'.
Bear in mind, it's easy to gain credits. I've seen it posted before, abusing the AI to gain credits rappidly. I had thousands of credits when I bought my licence, and I went straight out on to online servers. Would've been weeks before I'd have run out.
I like the sound of both those ideas. Sometimes if I join mid-race, I don't see a forced-pit warning, so I end up racing, then getting disq'd at the end. Irritating!
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but I haven't managed to find it. It occoured to me while talking with an admin yesterday, that sometimes it can be hard for an admin to get from one spot to another quickly, to check for wreckers/stoppers/breakers/sha...Anyway...
An 'Admin only' vehicle, which allows the admin to circle the track (off racing lines) to watch for people parking up and causing problems. A server option, to allow the admin to specify, for example, the XRT as an 'Admin Only' vehicle. Attatch bright-yellow paint-job, and you have a safety car.
Yeah, sure, somone is bound to abuse it, but somone will abuse everything eventually. It would add another level of realism to the game, and provide admins with an easier way to monitor the progress of cars on the track.
"Why not just put yellow paint on the cars allowed?" I hear you ask.. Because they won't 'stand out'. Imagine a field full of FO8's (Oval, for example). A yellow FO8 doesn't stand out, but a yellow XRT would. Different shape, easy to spot.
This would also allow the admin to organize rolling starts with greater ease and slow a race down (Example, 150 lap oval needs slowing, you can't just say "Okay, guys, slow down now, ya'hear"). If there was an option the admin could set to 'Penlize Overtaking Safety car', so anyone passing the safety car whilst that option is set gets forced to the spectators, or the pits as a pentaly. That would ensure rolling starts function correctly.
Imagine the possibilities.. it can't be *that* hard to do, surely, and it really would add an extra element of realism to the races. Major pileup... No restart, safety car slows the field down for one lap, then we have a rolling start, minus the people who crashed. Darwin-ised LFS.
I'm sorry.. So you suggest reducing the realism in LFS to add these extra cars? That's a little .. backwards, I think. I find the realism levels quite good, and to reduce those just so you can control a muscle car is quite .. Dare I say, lame (No, I'm not flaming you. I'm just stating a personal opinion).
That's why he said it 'wouldn't be very handy', having it as default. You could add a right-click "Open with CMX Viewer".. An option in the CMX viewer to 'Add Right-Click option' would be agood idea.
Actually, I recall a program a while back that demonstrated the effect. A guy stood at the equator in some-country, and demonstrated the effect on either side with a bowl of water. Pity he didn't stand on the equator to show it, I suppose.
Google had better hope not. Microsoft have been known in the past to 'block' software from working on releases of Windows. They say this is to enforce piracy laws (A P2P program came out a long time ago, and it never took off because Windows dissalowed it access to the TCP stack, therefore blocking it from accessing the internet).
And besides, MSN is shipped with windows. MS will ensure nothing could ever 'replace' it. And if they fail, they'll simply start copying it, to try and make MSN look better.
Agreed. Construction and Use regulations are clear on reflective surfaces that reflect sunlight toward the driver. Granted, this is a race car.. But surely, that'd be even MORE reason for such caution.
Google is going for world domination. Google for President! .. Hang on, I'm not 'merican. *Chin*.. Google for PM!
Anywho, I'm shocked they haven't already brought out an IM package. It's not a complex task to create one, and for somone like google, it seems a little.. Late. Almost everyone knows what Yahoo is, because of YiM, same for AIM/Aol. Google should've brought out an IM network a long time ago. Such a small, easy task, they are late on the ball with this.
Additionally.. They're going to be hard-pushed to bring out something 'better' than any of the IM'ers already out. There's so many these days, it's a hard market to topple.
I was a demo-er for about 2 weeks, I think. As soon as I played the demo I wanted the license, just had to wait for payday. Any demo'ers reading this..; Buy it, you will NOT be dissapointed (Unless you are a NFS or Lotus Esprité hardcore fan.. Then you might be dissapointed, but you don't count anyway. :P)
Now that, I agree with. This one dude has one account, and *says* he shares it with other people. He simply changes the 'shown' name. Of course, it must just be coincidence that he has been seen wrecking under several names (Same account). It's a pain in the royal backside, and there's nothing you can really do to prove either way. Curiously, not sure if sharing your account with other people is allowed or not.
My only concern with this theory is it's possible abuse. Example? Team JRR race against team SMB. Team SMB loose, all because of one guy in JRR who was good at blocking cleanly. Team SMB say, "Shit, man.. Let's get this guy banned so we can win!". They all wait until he slips up and causes one, maybe two accidents in a season. They all send the replays in, and poor MrLooLixzor gets banned for an accident.
Over the top example? Yes. But I know people who would do it. Then there's the people who are new to a track/car/setup combination. So you say, "Practice offline!!!111oneone". Fair enough. That's what I did... I can't launch very well in the FO8, so I practiced offline. I had it down to a charm... Went online with new courage.. Only to find the reason I was launching so well ofline, was because I was doing it too slow. I got wiped out 4 times in a row, and forced 2 restarts because of it. Would that warrant a ban? I don't think so. Would somone try to ban me because of it? Oddly enough, I was banned from the server.
You have to be carefull in this, you're playing with somone's purchased license, that they may have scraped and saved to get.

Persistent, purposeful wreckers? They should have their eyes cut out with lolli-pop sticks.
