Autotune is a piece of software that listens to the pitch of the singer and shifts the pitch up or down based on which actual key (C D E F etc.) it's closest to. You can choose how "agressively" the software alters the pitch to find a balance between a robotic and a more natural sound. The more natural choice alters the pitch more slowly and dynamically (much like a real singer) while the robotic choice alters the pitch directly to keep it in perfect tune at all time.

A talkbox is nothing more than a box with a built in speaker and a tube which goes from the speaker into your mouth. This way, if you put the tube in your mouth, the sound comes out of your mouth and you can modulate the sound by moving your mouth the same way as if you were actually singing. Basically, it is an artificial vocal chord, as the sound does not come from your throat and out of your mouth, but from the tube and out of your mouth.
Now simply play a melody through the talkbox with a synthesizer, modulate your mouth, grab a mic and you got the talkbox sound.

Quote from danthebangerboy :Thay also use one of them, i think its talkbox, on this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5xsiKBJGW4

That's Autotune. And it's actually THE track that turned Autotune from a helpful correction tool for terrible singers into a whole new sound producers purposely started using, even when the singer could actually sing in tune.

Great shots guys! It's amazing how many skilled amateur photographers the world actually has.

I wish I could post up some new stuff but my Nikon's battery has decided to give me the finger.
I've sent it on winter holidays in my fridge, some folks told me that could fix it, so I'll gladly take up their advice and see what happens.

That, or I'll just buy a new one soon. (Yes I know, warranty doesn't cover batteries).

Quote from george_tsiros :so the "car lurching forward" = "car's weight is shifted to the front" and "heel and toe" can fix that.

Yep! When the speed of the two clutch plates doesn't match (eg. engine RPM too low when you shift from 3rd to 2nd gear), the drivetrain clutch plate has to speed up the engine clutch plate, which then also slows down the drivetrain clutch plate respectively. They both influence eachother's speed, since they both have momentum.

Result: RPM goes up - drivetrain speed goes down. Engine revs - car lurches forward.

Quote from obsolum :People revmatching in their road car to "save the clutch" are kidding themselves. Clutches in road cars are built to withstand slipping on downshifting and revmatching won't make any noticeable difference whatsoever in the clutch wear.

Modern cars, yes - older cars, no. Even though they're made to do that, you'll greatly extend a clutch's life expectancy by revmatching.

Though besides that, and more importantly, revmatching provides a much smoother and more comfortable ride.

Quote from dawguk :This isn't true, I use heel and toe when dropping two gears at once, for example heading into a roundabout, shifting from 5th to 3rd. Just stamping on the breaks, and shifting into 3rd at high revs unsettles many cars - heel and toe here keeps the car from lurching forwards - some people are happy with blipping the throttle too or left foot breaking, which achieves the same things, but it's not as quick imo.

You're obviously going way too fast on public roads if you employ heel toe braking for the sake of car balance.

Quote from speed1 :So I'm correct in assuming that the general idea is that its pointless with modern cars, but way more fun?

If kicking stuff with your left foot hundreds of times is your idea of fun, then yes.
I'll keep my dog away from you though.. he's kind of small and likes legs. Alot.

Quote from george_tsiros : extra points for perfect clutchless shift which puts even less strain on the drivetrain as everything is perfectly aligned for the duration of the shift. zero clutch wear zero synchro wear... (not that they wear down significantly under normal, or even harsh, use)

Did you know that clutchless shifting actually works in LFS?

Double clutching is a technique that was once mandatory but nowadays it's outdated and useless with modern synchronizers.
Unless you drive a car with an ancient gearbox, you can let the synchros do the work.

The reason it's known wide-spread is either from older friends or family members... or just because it makes you sound really cool if you say "I always double clutch revmatch while downshifting".

Rev matching is a whole another story though. That's a matter of saving the clutch.

Quote from Wikipedia :A double clutch (also called a double declutch) is a driving procedure primarily used for vehicles with an unsynchronized manual transmission.

Quote from G!NhO :Same what i was thinking, he has to rebuild the whole thing to fit the ps3 in after the xbox broke down.

It can be taken out. I've seen a news item about this car.
When he presses a button, a projector screen unfolds in front of the windshield and you can use the car's steering wheel and pedals to play games like Forza.
