Need for Speed Pro Street XBOX DEMO OUT!
Okay I just got back from playing the demo on X360 and my first impressions are..totally different in good means!
First of all, in carbon, MW, Underground games, cars and enemies felt like they are some big rocks glued to ground, but in this game, the FEEL is totally different!
There is Speed challange in Nevada and a grip challenge with Nissan GT-R.

Also there is damage offcourse and I would say it's quite good, bumpers, trunks, hoods etc. fall off and bumps come etc.
Yes, everyone who's got XBOX 360 , go download demo and give your opinions.

I PROMISE this is different than previous.

Yes, but does the damage affect the handling, and does it still automagically repair itself 0.0001 seconds after the collision?

NFS is very pretty, with lots of bells and whistles, but until they admit that it is primarily a GAME, then EA wont be getting any pennies from me
Hmm, I was so busy holding the car on road at Nevada (yes true, i was BUSY, that got to say something..) that I couldn't properly concertrate on handling after I got damaged, I think it didnt affect handling... Anyways, getting that white BMW on bump near road is going to end bad, as I experienced Also, at the beginning of Nevada track, there is uphill road and when you press N2O during uphill, you get nice boost which is going to get you a little air, which is enough to automatticly lose control and you likely end up being totalled.

And I admit, it's so damn fun to see those AI-s collide at high speed and when one of them flips (speed ~250) then passing that wreckage is like: " Ooh ***" And you really fight to dodge that wreckage. In my eyes, this is good NFS! I absolutely didnt like carbon.

A nice feature as you probably all know is when you start a race and before race there comes that trackday place, where all cars gather before a race, it makes really good feel. There is also some guy speaking in mic during that gathering etc.
You really don't want to crash in this NFS, because I remembered that there is Light damage and Heavy damage, unfortunately I can't remember, did those affect handling, but I suppose it did, because aerodynamic thingy is in, so if you dent your car, aerodynamic stuff becomes worse and yeah you know.
There is coming PC demo too soon.

Graphics were nice IMO, all those car details and scenery looked real nice /me thinks.
In nevada, watching those mountains in distance..beautiful.
Sorry for messy post
I'll give it a shot tonight, but after the atrocity that was...pretty much everything after Porsche 2000 / Unleashed, they have a lot of ground to make up.

It's got Forza 2 to compete with though, so it has a pretty high benchmark
Does it have any proper cars, or is it all Japanese rice cup holders?
It's definitely geared more towards the Ricer crew, but there's some nice ones in there. My favourite classic muscle is in there (67 Camaro), so it can't be all bad
Well yes, but me personally don't have nothing against Japanese cars, so it's all fine to me.
EA is definately making effort, + points for EA!
Well, it's impossible to make something worse than carbon, and, judging from the screenshots i've seen, it's gonna be the first decent NFS since Hot Pursuit 2 and the (imho excellent) Porsche 2000/Unleashed.

Hope to get the pc demo soon.
LOL John Higendaugh or w/e his name is on this demo. On teh Autobahn 'griprace' section of the demo, as the commentator.
You may recognise this man from the comments on British Renault Clio and Formula Ford, and all the other BTCC support series championships.

As for the game.
Car handling is much better and the game it'self is already like the OLDskool NFS series. Out of the cars, my favourite is the BMW M3, and the graphics are just awesome.
Anyone know when the PC demo's due out? Looks like a bit of fun.
Okay, I played it last night and here's what I think.

Obviously it looks nice. The smoke is just too thick though. I know that's one of their selling points (presumably for the drifters), but it's like proper white (with a capital white!) rather than translucent the way smoke actually is. It looks like it's half-smoke, half-jelly. The environments look great and there's a lot of stuff around the track, from crowds on the track to just nice scenery on the road (including deadly telegraph poles!).

It appears to be pretty much based around racing too, so that's also a good thing. The other mode in the demo was about crossing a series of checkpoints as fast as possible and after all of them your speeds were added up and the highest wins. A bit odd that you can spend like 80% of the race off the road and still win as long as you crank up the speed on that one straight. Unfortunately there is a nitrous button.

The handling is where it seems to fall down though. Maybe it's just me (or maybe it works better with a wheel), but it was always well understeery when turning into the corner, but once it actually started turning it was sideways almost right away. While I'd expect that in something light and rear-engined, there's no way a BMW M3 should have that issue. I automatically turned all driving assists off before I started, I don't know if maybe a lower difficulty setting might sort this out, especially if it's designed for use with a wheel.

I'm not sure if the damage makes any difference to the aero model, but it certainly slows you down. My crumpled front end and bouncing hood definitely looked cool, but until I went headlong into a pole I can't say I noticed much change in handling or speed.

So overall it's probably the best effort at a racing game the NFS franchise has made in some time, but it didn't grab me the way Forza 2 did.
I tried the demo aswell.

It's fun in a good old NFS way. Definately one of the better NFS titles. But that's about it for me.

It's still very arcade-ish. And car handling is still a joke (in terms of realism). Simply try to do some donuts/go in circles, and you'll see how bad the physics are. But hey, it's NFS, not like i've expected anything different.

And i would have to agree about the smoke... looks ridiculous!
I would try it, but my 360 is dead

DUH  Thats because the TRACTION CONTROL is on when you are doing that. Notice at bottom right corner TC sign? Notice how it turns green when you are doing that stuff? So, i want to see what full game has.
Tried it last night, sucked ass.

Even when i select the "king" option? That's well stupid then...

It didn't feel like there was traction control when my wheels were spinning and producing massive smoke... uhm... yeah. :P
Yummy, this has got the escort cosworth in it :P
However, the full version should have better driving aid settings (not this casual, racer, king stuff), or at least that's what i've heard. NFS has never pretended to be a sim, so if the physics are arcadey, it's ok, if you aren't able to do a hairpin at 200+ kmh like in carbon.
It's not that bad. But cornering speeds are still far from realistic.
looking forward to the pc demo
I like the way they have tried to take it away from a realistic setting, the demo events and tracks are quite hyped up and it really gives it a feel that NFS should have. The damage and dirt effects look like they stay on the cars, the grids have filthy cars and cars with taped up bumpers. When you crash it says 'TOTALED' and you see your car flipping itself into an early grave, then if you go back to the pre-race screen the car is there all smashed to bits. I think this means damage will need to be repaired and payed for, and you will need to pay to clean your car too by the looks of it.

Its a step in the right direction methinks, at least it will teach NFS kids that you need to repair your car after a crash and clean it once in a while. I am going to buy this game when its out, I wasn't but I played the demo and changed my mind.
Could anybody link me with a DECENT system requirments list? I'm hoping I'll be able to squeeze some game time on the school computers when this comes out, the ones in the tech lab are half decent...
