...It's called "What in the hell is this?"

I've been at the Mosport Vintage event all day (and will be all weekend) and this little number was on track. The driver's arms are literally out of the cockpit, elbows over the 'sidepods.' The gear shifter itself is mounted on the top of the sidepods. Looks insanely dangerous, especially at a high speed track like Mosport.

Anyone have any idea what it is?

I don't have any pics of the driver doing the funky chicken on the track from today, but I'll try to grab some over the course of the weekend.

There's a lot of beautiful machines here this weekend; despite it being a very small event. 2 Williams F1 cars (I think one is a '79 and the other an '80? Not too sure) along with a 'Candy' sponsored Tyrell, and a March of the same era. There's also the 'Tea Tray' front winged March (har har) and a 1968 (i think) Brabham. In the GT/Saloon car groups, there's two BMW M1s, and a healthy dosage of potent Minis, among other things. Lots of neat stuff. It's not as big as the event in St. Jovite, and not even close to the Monterey Historics, but it's close by and there's some lovingly restored classics hitting the track. If anyone here is in the area, I urge you to swing by the track this weekend for some vintage fun

very interesting! Not quite sure at all, but i've seen a peculiar looking Porsche before that reminds me of it. Very neat looking though.

Looks like "MRT5 oldschool edition" : or maybe Formula ford 1960 edition. Early entry level formula racer.
It looks absolutely glorious!

Any idea what kind of engine it was running? Never seen anything like it before - perhaps it entered the rarely-featured-on-telly Robot-Wars-LMP-666 Class in the 1971 Le Mans !?
I've found out what it is; a 1961 Dreossi Special. It was made for the "Canada Class." The Canada class was an attempt in the 50s and 60s at cheap racing. The only limitations on it were engine size, pretty much.

I'll see if I can get some more info on it tomorrow.

I've attatched a picture of this little death-trap on track, in Moss Corners (5a and 5b).

Gotta like that beast huh? The Dreossi Special was built by Ray Dreossi and Cece Simmons near Courtice, Ontario. This was the 2nd car Cece had built and was designed to incorporate some improvements over his 1st. It was built from a 98 imperial gallon under-wing drop tank from a F86 Sabre-jet. Engine is the 948 cc BMC 'A' series from a Sprite bored out to 998 cc. Indeed a fun car to watch barreling around Mosport. My wife was calling it the Hoover all weekend
My father says it looks like a stove pipe. hehe

Thanks for posting up the info there; I have a picture of the board sitting beside the car in the paddock but I can barely read what it says. My memory is too bad to remember the details of it, too lol

You get a load of that Lola T70 Spyder? Oh man that was sweet...
