Quote from dbt :I got the last piece of the Rinoseat GTR some days ago.. and it's already built and running..

Honestly I think that this is the best seat that money can buy.. and the good new is that it doesn't cost that much money the seat comes packed in a surprisingly small package. To build this thing is not easy (not a ikea thing) but its something everybody can do (i have build worst things). The tolerances in the seat are really small, that makes the construction a bit complicated, but in return it gives an impressive estability once it's built.. each piece is secured to the chasis by using a minimum of 2 or 3 bolts.. its imposible to move it once everything its built. everything is bomb proof.. the wheel support, the pedal support the shift holder support.. and best of all is that the whole seat is light (aluminum chasis pieces)

The adjustement options are extensive.. everybody can fit in this seat.. im 189 and it can surely fit much longer guys (im far from using the last adjustement bolts)

The seat is very confortable as well (more than it looks like)

Renato is the best part of the pack, he is extremely responsive and answers every question promptly and with exceptional detail.. I wish all customer services were at least half suportive as he is.

The only problem is the loong waiting times, but that has nothing to do with Renato or the product itelf but with the problem with his local post office. In my case the first seat was lost and did not arrive to me. But Renato assured me that he would send me a new one, and he did (no questions, no issues). I advice to all people buying the seat that the waiting times are worth the final product.. think of it as it's much better than buying a Ferrari (with waiting times longer than a year)

Can you take a pic from the side ?

Cheers M8

Quote from Luke.S :But he wanted teh best sim in teh world.

I bet he is one of those people who if he can't do 200mph around a 90 degree bend calls the game crap.

Oh and to the OP this is a SIM (yes sim unlike RACE 07 and all it's continuations which are GAMES) which is developed by 3 blokes. 1 does graphics. One does all the web stuff. And the other one has coded basically the whole game by himself. LFS started from a bloke (Scawen) wanting something to do in his spare time when he used to work at Lionhead Studios. One man has done all this and is currently writing what may or may not become one of the best tyre simulations available. It takes time when you are on your own. And unlike Simbin. Scawen doesn't release half assed products. He (no offence Scawen) is a bit OCD in how he wants LFS to have no flaws with the programming. He is what you can call a perfectionist.

I really don't know where this long post came from. Now I click submit and I bet it is tiny

Quote from degraaff :LFS's cars have fictional names, but their design is based on existing cars. And if you haven't noticed yet, LFS is starting to add existing cars - such as the VW Sirocco and the BMW Sauber F1 (the latter is already in the game) - and tracks - such as Rockingham. LFS is only just ending its childhood!

Seems like SIMBIN's been around for a longer time since it feels very mature

Quote from EliteAti :Should of bought LFS S2 with that money, much better than awesome. Even though getting outdated.

Richard Burns Rally is my all time favourite sim and I wanted an all tarmac sim as an alternative.

I have tried just about every sim out there now and SIMBIN is the closest I got to the EPIC RBR sim.

Im as happy as can be !

THANK you SIMBIN

Since about a week ago I found out how to really get the right sense of speed and acceleration.

I bought SIMBIN's GTR Evolution and Race On

Real Cars

Real Tracks

It's AWESOME

Quote from majod :youre are right,
rbr has much better feeling of speed than lfs...and it is because rbr tracks are much more detailed and narrow...in lfs tracks are very wide and youre close to nothing...theres only road and grass...all objects are far away, thats the reason you dont have the feeling of speed...

in rbr there are lots of details, trees and rocks all around you, detailed roads,...thats why it seems youre racing much faster...

if lfs would had some narrow tracks somewhere in a forest with lots of trees around, you would feel the same

Totally agree !

Quote from cargame.nl :Yeah this is one of LFS selling mistakes.

They need to specify all track combinations, it looks like there is not much but actually there is

But.. Rockingham is always welcome to join the club

I tell you after trying out the demo I certainly wasn't convinced or impressed. But after trying out some of the other cars and tracks at one of my friends I can say that it's really a nice sim.

They should put at least one fast car in the demo + explaining all the variations of the tracks.

Quote from morpha :Options -> Controls
First of all, make sure the top section there is configured correctly, i.e. wheel / joystick is selected, wheel turn, wheel turn compensation, etc. set according to your preference (I recommend 900° or 720°, compensation 1.00, force 100), throttle / brake axes set to separate... you get the idea.

Now click Axes/FF, pretty much in the center of the screen both vertically and horizontally, in the row of small buttons. There you will find a list of axes on the right and a list of functions they can be assigned to on the left. Simply click a function (the label / name) and then the axis to assign to it

Very complicated compared to RBR but thanks to you it now works!

Thanks a million !

Quote from morpha :Options -> Graphics -> Adapter
Click it and a list of available adapters pops up, select the second one. The list of resolution/refresh rate combinations in Options -> Screen should now show all available combinations for your TV.

Works great now exept I cant seem to get my Fanatec GT3 RS V2 and Clubsport Pedals to work with LFS.

The small bars in the LFS interface moves when I press the pedals and move the wheel but I cant seem to get the game to assign any.

The only thing I can assign are the buttons on the wheel like shift up and down etc etc but no Steering gas brake or clutch

Quote from Jakg :LFS displays any resolutions your GPU says it can do (and that will be restricted by the EDID settyings of your monitor).

In short - if LFS wont do the res you want (and your not using more than one screen with LFS), it's your GPU drivers / config outside of LFS thats wrong.

And RBR feels faster because your piloting a car down a road ~1.5 car widths wide at 70. LFS tracks are literally like a motorway by comparison.

I'm convinced now after trying out the REALLY fast cars and it feels about the same as taking my own car for a spin on the highway at + 210 km/h.

In other words LFS feels the way a really good sim should.
I'm glad I finally found an alternative sim to RBR that has all tarmac tracks after trying all the Simbins and rFactor.

About 1920 X 1080 resolution
I have two monitors, 1 PC monitor at 1280X1024 and my SONY TV at 1920X1080 and when I play RBR the game automatically pops up on my TV.

With RBR I have changed the text in the ini file to 1920x1080.

But in LFS I only see the max setting is 1280.

Quote from mcintyrej :RBR Feels fast because your driving down tiny roads with in many cases walls of trees at either side, on a wide track you don't get this effect.

+

Your driving a slow car.

Yes you're right and after trying the "real" LFS cars I see that there is a really good sense of speed and acceleration.

Now the only obstacle is to find out how we can get LFS to run with 1920 X 1080 ?

On the configuration page there is only 1280 as the max setting.

Maybe it's done with a textfile somewhere just like with RBR ?
I know that it's possible cause I've read that people use 1920 X 1080.

Quote from JO53PHS :This coupled with your other thread about LFS only having 20 cars and 7 tracks makes me think that LFS isn't your sort of game

Quote from azasmith14 :What were you hoping for? The wind in your hair? Watering eyes as you hit 95mph+?

Wider the track, the slower it feels. If you were to drive the same speed down a tight circuit, say South City, then you'd probably think the speed was fine.

I'm used to Richard Burns Rally which has great sense of speed and acceleration and is an accurate simulator.

I'm searching for a sim that has the same sense of speed and acceleration as RBR but with tarmac tracks.

I thought LFS was the answer but obviously it is not!

Maybe they should change the name of this game to something that doesn't have the word speed in it!!
Demo driving at 170 K/h feels like 10 K/h

Have I missed something cause driving the formula 1 car in past 170 K it feels like driving in about 10 K. Absolutely NO sense of speed OR acceleration !
