Wow, this car looks very nice!

Could anyone advise where to drop the files please? There is no readme.

Thanks :-)

EDIT: It's ok, I figured it out. Very high quality work! Impressed :-)

I use TrackIR all the time. IMO it adds a further sense of immersion and enables you to look out beyond the corner sooner for your exit points.

I'm not sure it makes me any faster (as I'm not that quick anyway) but does add to the experience. Take for instance if someone is approaching for a pass, it's much more realistic to turn your head and look than push a button.

I had TrackIR 3 for ages and recently upgraded to TrackIR 4 Pro, which, I have to say, is outstanding. The head movement is much more natural and the 6DOF is something else.

TrackIR FTW!

Great idea Somewhere to learn from actual coaching rather than just taking off and never removing/improving your bad driving habits.

My £0.02

I have not tried the DFP or MOMO Red myself, but I've recently purchased a MOMO Racing (Black) and I am very impressed. I moved from the Formula Force GP and there is a big difference is quality.

FFB and general control of the MOMO Racing is excellent. 6 buttons I find are enough, no problems there. Stick shift and paddles are great

Well designed and feels great; recommended.

I've now replaced my FFGP with a MOMO Racing. I am so impressed with this wheel!

Big difference in quality IMO. I seem to have much more control with the MOMO and already noticing improvements on my lap-times. When I'm fully used to it I've no doubt I can beat all my previous PB's

GTG, practice to do.........

Windshield suggestion is a good idea I'm in agreement with that.

Most other sims do allow TrackIR, but generally not the freedom of view within the cab that LFS does, meaning the view stops short of allowing you to look into the back of the car for example. I know you would be unlikely to use such a view during a race, but it's good to check back if you run wide/off and need to be sure rejoining the track will not ruin someone else's race.

No-one is "complaining", it was simply a suggestion for improvement, being an improvement suggestion forum. It looks like no-one else is in favour of the idea, which is fine, it is only a suggestion for discussion, I'm not making unreasoned demands or anything. IMO it would be an improvement to have such a display, but that is only IMO and others are of course quite welcome to their own opinions.

It works for me in GTR & rFactor so thought it would also suit LFS, given the way LFS displays data on the fly at present, which I personally do not favour.

Without doubt for me the most improvement eye-candy wise is required in the place we spend most of our time (i.e. the cab).

I am a real fan of the way LFS lets you integrate by making head movements (particularly with TrackIR) realistic and being able to view the entire cab. This is a major advantage for LFS immersion for me over many other racing sims out there. So, to improve the in cab graphics, textures etc. would get a big thumbs up from me (but the way it is now is also excellent so I'm certainly not complaining).

It might look better to use floating HUDs IYO but it's not as realistic, which is what I thought LFS was *all* about.

I think it is practical, GTR and rFactor use them quite well. It might not be ultra realistic, but it's got to be closer to the real thing than having a menu floating round in space. I've never driven a car with a floating menu/table, but I have driven one with displays and such. I'm just thinking about the immersion element I suppose.

Using a wheel mounted button to flick through the menus I personally like very much. I can understand there could be difficulties given the way LFS draws the dash though.

I've had a quick look in the forum and cannot see any previous reference to my suggestion, so here goes.

It would be great to see an additional LCD type information screen in the cockpit, showing tyre temps, pressures, brake temps, split times & all that stuff

ATM, some this information is provided via "over-lays" or by additional on-screen tables & the like (such as the position & lap-times etc.). If this detail could be integrated into a cab screen, it would make the players POV even more realistic. Realism is where we are at with LFS and I belive the immersion factor is an important point. I know you can turn menus and the like off but the information is very useful; if it were presented in a more realistic manner (i.e. LCD in car screen) that would be "bo"

My £0.02.

Set-ups are key here. If you are using the Inferno sets, chances are they have a Locked Diff. For n00bs such as I, this is very difficult to drive. I've started driving with an LSD and am caning my old PB's, although no-where near WR's yet.

If you need more grip, use an LSD :-)

Take a look at my LFS World stats and see how they compare (hotlaps as well). They are not great yet, which is really the root of my reluctance.

If you think my times are reasonable then I might still sign up to give you a full(er) grid. I do try race clean although sometimes *accidents* do happen (certainly not on purpose)

Having thought about it I best leave it for now. I don't want to earn a bad rep by being too slow and spoling races for the seasoned guys.

Maybe next season

Now I'm curious. Why is it that there are still places available 5 days before registration closes?

Is it because average or new drivers are best to stay clear and let the experienced drivers run?

If I were to sign up and race it would be for the experience intially, not with a goal of winning.

That would come later as my "competative" side emerges................

I am figuring these racers are of a pretty good standard so I would likely need to put plenty practice in before hand which is something I don't mind doing

@ mrodgers

Comparing to my RL car is something I do regularly as I am looking for realism in this sim. TBH, there is a world of difference, mainly in the grip levels.

It takes many times more effort to get my real car sideways. I drive it hard (when it's safe) and not once have I had it in such a state that I can often get in with FWD cars in LFS. It's all about feeling. When I'm sat in my RL car, if it wants to let go, there is plenty of warning and of course you feel it through your whole body. However, comparing the grip levels generally, my RL car has much more grip than FWD LFS cars.

I'm still the same as you on that front Kev, no feeling of "steady, i'm about to let go" when the back end slips.

That said, I have not done many laps yet with this new controller config, so maybe there is something I am missing at the moment while I fully adjust to the new FFB.
