This will harm you, I am sure.
What kind of human are the devs, that they demand such a time-consuming and complex task from their customers?

And this mischief cries for a useless forum post...

To be honest, I bet it took you more time to post this than me to unlock the game once more

Edit: Now I added another useless post, as Scawen was quicker. Got to improve my english to cut down the time I am using looking up in the dictionary

This thread is insane
So now to something completly different, or else I will become insane too.

I will notice when the patch is released. Everyone here will shout out with joy and this won't be overheard on this planet!
OMG, 2000 posts in this thread... :faint:

Quote from Renku :MoE season ended. Any chance of a new season of the regular endu league happening before the next MoE season?

I'd say give the guy some rest and wait for the patch.
But I have to say that I would like to see a new season starting. That would give me a reason to get behind the wheel again.
Hotlaps for KY national rev LX4

The hotlap chart for KY national rev LX4 is linked with a WR and benchmark of 0:00.000. You can see this by displaying the hotlaps of the fastes racer (Righteous), who is not listed in the WR holders list.

Quote from inCogNito :yes, that would be nice, but since the percentage is counted by laps and not by time it's hard to predict the race length.
maybe an additional display for the estimated percentage would be the way to go.

This should not be that hard as for each completed lap the laptime is available. But this would leed to a small error if disconnects happen?

Quote from Tweaker :Wholy crap that'd make a great endurance track!!!!

Would love to see that configuration to be honest.

I would really like to see this combination. This would get rid of the two parts of Long Huru-aito mentioned and that I don't like either. And such an extra long combination is missing in S2.

Quote from Chaos :There are per car ranks also... Just click on the desired car and you can see the chart

But these are only forward driven laps and not even all combinations of tracks. For example the AS 1 combo is missing from that rank.

Well, this race was interesting.

A first stint where everything was going wrong, first spinning out in the mini eau rouge. Then after catching up with Mr. Nylander and passing him I lost control in that fast left under the tyre while slipstreaming to get past Mr. de Bruijn. So trying to get the slightly damaged car fast into the pits I earned ourselfs a drive through penalty

The driver change was the next thing that could go wrong and sure it did. Bernd did forget to click on the T in the namelist and I was telling him that he forgot with a muted microphone. So all signs were showing for a perfect race

The next two stints went well if I remember correctly. My second one was pretty good. But we were behind our timetable for 4 stops. So Bernd tried to stretch the next stint by staying one more lap on the track. Nearly everything went well and the tyres still looked good when I took over again.

But now I managed to spin out repeatedly again, and we were counting the minutes down to make it without stopping again. I said that I need another stop, but had fuel for 3 more laps, we both decided that the tyres still looked good and that I should stay out one more lap. And guess what happened? Yeah, the tyres just pretended to be good because two corners after the finish line the front left blew...

I had to go nearly the whole lap with the blown tyre and we lost 5th place to SBRC.

So apart from two computer crashes from my teammate (all when he was spectating )and some problems with the comunication I have to say that the race was an interesting expirience. Thanks for organizing this event and the whole season!

Quote from Da Hoe :what do you guys think about having chat allowed in the race? the ones who drive can block the messages and the ones who dont drive have something to while watching and could laugh together bout trudinoobo's crashes.
also the teammates who dont have teamspeak could communicate.

That would be a nice thing, especially because we are all allowed to spectate on the server.

Quote from The Devil Is A Squirrel :It happen's every time immediately after clicking on lfs.exe...

I can imagine that it will try until it got a working connection. You could do this: http://groups.google.de/group/ ... mp;hl=de#613ae4d1dae26226

But I don't think that this would be a good idea, revoked certificates are a serious security flaw if a client does not know about the revokation.

Quote from Mounthy :lookink at the stats,
strange thing in the 3. sector
i had a good split time with very low topspeed.
how is that possible?
the 3. sector is only one corner and 2 long straights.

Best split 3
4. Kasper (Mounthy) 33.04 +0.49 sec
Top Speed, kph
10. Kasper (Mounthy) 241.08 -11.99 km/h

So I let the replay run through the stats once again in single speed and the top speeds differ: http://www.markus-hennecke.de/lfs/Endu-Race_20050921.html

The first time in Endu history that I did a nearly errorless race. I could not decide wether to go for 3 or 4 stops until one minute before the start. Merging of div c and div b gave me a few more minutes after which I still had no idea. So I decided to load fuel for a 19 lap stint and decide it later

Plaitcsys was going really fast after me. I had to be quick and so I could not take the tyres over 16 laps. Strategy was set. I loaded the same amount of fuel on the second stint and did not manage to let the tyres last longer, so after second pitstop I decided to go with less fuel. Is there any way to readjust that value in F12 view by lower numbers than 5? Anyway, it happened that I ran out of fuel while rolling into the pitlane at the third stop. I did not realise that the engine died and wondered why the car did not move... well, after realising that I had to press 'I' I was off again

The remaining laps of the race went good, until I crossed the finish line and decided to park the car in the pitlane exit. Krutch, I am really sorry about that. I just didn't realise that there was someone leaving the pits at the same moment I crossed the line .

I think those many turns and up and down passages in this track can really give you a bad time, but it keeps you concentrated for the whole race. No daydreaming on long straights

Thanks to everyone for this good race, hope to see you again on track!

Edit: An MagicFr, sacrifice that chicken in your oven

Perhaps the setup has asymetric camber settings and/or the tyre pressure is asymetric?
If not, there is no reason to use the "forward" setup on the reverse track. But some turns, when driven reverse may require some setup adjustments.

Quote from tehkahless :ok .. i've now found an explanation .. after hours of trying to find the problem somewhere completely different .. i came back to the basics .. IE/opera just don't get the XHTML syntax right .. maybe it only supports XHTML with the XHTML DOCTYPE .. but anyway
the right code is <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src="http://goim.sphene.net/lfs/listRacersJS?racer=tehkahless&racer=iceberg&racer=wierwolf"></script>

note the added </script> tag

Hm, valid XHTML would read as <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src="http://goim.sphene.net/lfs/listRacersJS?racer=tehkahless&racer=iceberg&racer=wierwolf" />

Note the slash before the greater than sign closing the tag. Perhaps it is picky about that? (Would really be something, thinking about the way IE ignores each and every standard)

Edit: And the ampersands would have to be escaped by & too...
Races to long?
Ayahuasca
S2 licensed
After the last races showed low numbers of active racers Frank was wondering if 2 hours is too much for league races. I think these numbers are not because of the race length.

There are some circumstances which are linked to the current season and could explain the low number of active racers:

1. Holidays. The season started right into the main holiday time, for students and for the working lot. If you are 3 weeks away you will miss at least one race. And the hot temperatures (at last!) here are a problem too, leading to all kinds of hardware problems like blue screens or sweating

2. Real life. Some racers decided to spend more time away from lfs. The decision came after start of the season. The enthusiasm that S2 was finaly out and a new season was to be started could explain why this decision was done not until after the first races.

3. Long races. Personally, I think the races are exactly the right length. But some racers are on other timezones, so the start is pretty late. A suggestion on IRC was to let the race start at the full hour (20:00 CEST atm).

4. S2 finally out! Yes, we got some new features in S2: Pitstops, damage, fuel and tyre wear. So the idea of long races are promising more eventful and exciting races. In the next season wind will be added if I am informed correctly, adding one more variable to the list. Now, what connection has this to few racers in the starting grid? I think there are a lot new racers in the leage, because of the new circumstances set by the S2 release. Perhaps some were only trying endurance races and the races are really to long? I really would like to hear about it from the fresh faces in the league! Are the races like you thought it would be or did you expect something completely different?

5. Hardware problems as well as disconnects. Some of these are linked to the length of the races. But I really don't know what could be done to fix
this...

6. Qualification for the races. I really like this system, but a qualifying session spread over two days could be an improvement? There is the problem of not having all the sessions at the same time, but I don't know if this is a real problem. I could think of no situation where it would be a drawback and it would fix the problem of very fast racers racing in div c.

7. Qualification for the season. As Frank already stated on IRC it would have been better to stick to the first plan to have 80 racers who must qualify to get a slot from the 60 slots available on the three servers. There was a good reason why it was dropped, but for future seasons this system would help to fill the servers. If some racers have no time at the race date slower ones would automatically slide into the grid and would have a chance in torturing themselves with a two hour race.
If the qualify can't be done by a racer he would only be able to join the race if there are free places on the grid.

So these are the points I am seeing. Some of them could lead to some changes in the league, attracting more racers. And some should assure the person(s) in charge that they did a very good job  and that it is not their fault why so many racers dropped from the season.

As already stated I'd like to hear your point of view to these subjects!

Quote from ColeusRattus :IIRC it is part of the penalty that you are not allowed to repeir or refuel. Or else you could just adjust the pit strategy accordingly and no harm would be done.

This is true, but it would be better letting him do his normal pitstop. He would have to complete his penalty after that lap. It is really a security issue to force a damaged car around the track once more.

So normal pitstops should be doable, even if a penalty is pending.

Quote from Gunn :The ability to recover from a slide is partly dependant on the car setup. Although the greater turning range of the DFP does mean a greater distance (therefore time) to counter-steer effectively, you can set the car up to respond quite quickly to your counter-steering action and thus improve that aspect of your car's behaviour.

I have switched to the DFP from my old Thrustmaster GT FF three days ago, and I must say that it took some time to get used to the greater turning range of the DFP. I am still not that fast that I used to be with the old wheel, but this is a normal learning process.

More turning range actually feels more natural while driving the car. Small corrections are more precise with the DFP while I didn't get the feeling for counter steering yet. Partly this may have to do with the pedals of the DFP, as the Thrustmaster pedals felt way better in the resistance and the pedal travel.

I always try to get fast setups (thanks for all guys out there sharing their sets) and many fast racers use the DFP, so I think that counter steering problem is really a matter of getting used to the greater turning range.

Damn, reading this a bit earlier would have saved me a useless download. I am to used to the way lfs handles this...

And the game needs you to be logged in as Administrator? Why? The error message it is displaying is not helpful either, it is an empty string. A long way to go for them.
