I think this patch is a backward step in many ways.
I don't like the new look left/right method, if you had that set to smooth, you only had to do a quick press to get a glance at your mirrors or a little longer to see what is actually beside you. Pressing the rear view button would then move your head in the direction it was already turned to look behind.

I really hoped that the new clutch thing would provide an advantage to people with a clutch pedal, but as the clutch gets too hot after a few laps (no matter how fast you jump off the clutch or bury it), it turns out to be a hinderance, especially as you only need to come off the gas a little using the auto method in order to flip the next gear in, and the clutch heat never changes.
Not at all sure why the bar for the clutch heat is so long, once it's a 10th of the way filled, the clutch is already hot enough that gears engage slugglishly, and much more than that and the clutch is apparently completely fried.
I've not tested it with all the cars, just the new one, which I would expect to have a racing clutch anyway, and therefore be pretty resistant to heat, and capable of taking much abuse. It's not like I ride the clutch at all, although after a few laps, it feels like I've been sat at traffic lights on a steep incline, riding the clutch for 5 minutes because I didn't want to use the handbrake.

Good job real clutches don't work like this, races in cars without sequential or automatic boxes wouldn't last very long at all.
Also, if we're going to have some form of clutch modelling, then let's have some nod toward the way a car lurches when you drop the clutch in hard (ie, in the powerful vehicles, rear wheels will spin in the lower gears if the gear ratio is tight). Right now, nothing about it feels right, and certainly won't have me powering up my spare wheel anytime soon (unless I break out GTR2 for some fun in the rain).

Safe to say that an option to move the mirrors to the desired position would satisfy every user then right?

Most modern cars allow the side mirrors to be easily electronically adjusted by the driver, and many many older ones have employed a cable system to allow the driver to at least adjust the one on his side.
Even vehicles without such amazing technology, allow the driver to wind down his window, stretch out his arm, and manually alter it whilst driving. Of course, said driver had to have extremely long arms for those cars where the wing mirrors were actually mounted in the middle of the front wings (unlike the doors where most are mounted these days, despite us still referring to them as wing mirrors). This didn't mean that you couldn't stretch a pole out of the window and prod away until something resembling a useful angle resulted.

Toyotoyo makes a valid point.

Also though, they are handy for when you are bored of doing the standard races in LFS. There's not really a big selection of cars or tracks, and likely there are tracks you don't race with certain car combinations, and certain cars you never race at all.
Races where the winner each round is forced to add a passenger can help add another way to influence results, and is immediately obvious to everyone else that the weight handicap imposed upon the winner has or hasn't been made.

I also doubt that the addition of the passengers took anything like as much work as modeling and creating the physics for a whole new vehicle. Maybe about the same amount of time required for you to be able to open your trunk and reveal some speakers that are there for everyone but the passengers enjoyment, along with usual retarded elements like playstation and dvd screen etc.

"Oh, hang on fellow racers, how about I pull over, pop the trunk and we all play Tekken with 6 Gigawatts of sound? I know it's cold and everything, but the speakers are surrounded in neon too..."

Couldn't care less about opening hood and doors or anything, I'd much rather see my windscreen getting progressively dirtier when racing up close to another car, or as a result of dust etc thrown up by other drivers. Therefore, I want functional windscreen wipers, not just any old rubbish mind, I also want to be able to squirt windscreen washer fluid too. If the screen is REALLY dirty, and you don't use the fluid, should make a suitably nasty mess, so that if you're leading, you can help extend the lead knowing that the further back a driver is, the more nonsense he has to think about in order just to stay on the track.

Of course, being a sim, there are other factors to consider with this addition. Firstly, there would need to be a separate setup screen, which allows you to select the balance between water and washer fluid, how much fluid you're going to use (heaven forbid you should make the car unbalanced with 5 pints of fluid when you could be more conservative with the switch and get away with 2). There'd need to be a closeup view of the windscreen washer nozzles themselves, and with the aid of a small modeled pin and some dexterous mousing, the user is able to set each of the nozzles to the desired pitch so that the screen can be cleared as the user prefers.
Secondly, accurate modeling of the water jets from the nozzles is paramount, because some of us might not care too much about clearing our windscreens too often, but would like the ability to send the jets straight over the roof to totally screw up the view of the messy windscreened git behind you who is driving unsafely close to your bumper.

If this isn't possible, I would like a nice day/night transition, where timescale is set by the server, including time of day/night at which you start. Some weather would be nice too, again with options for changeability.

I just saw it also. Is it compatible with 3DS stuff? I'd like to attempt to render some of my skins, and if I can do it with this, watermarks or not, I'll be happy. Can I just get the Brazil plugin and use it with Gelato?

Be handy to know exactly what one would need in order to put this software to use..

I spent forever one night making a setup for this on Blackwood. The car was still deadly, but I had a lot of fun, tail out on every corner, and it puts in some pretty good times.

What I hated from the outset, and I don't know if it's just a force feedback issue or generally weird geometry in the car, is the way it wants to steer left and right all by itself whilst in a straight line. I have to grip the wheel like I was hanging off a flag pole suspended 10,000ft in the air.

I surely wouldn't want to do an endurance event in it

I'll give it a test Mr Banshee, see if I can find those stealth oil slicks like you had in the last server...
