I've just been booted from ctra bump & jump for taking up a slot and not being an active participant...
So far so good. But what really happenend is the following:
I joined a race, then specced one. Then I tried to rejoin a zillion times, but all I got was 'race is full' and then I was booted.

Computers are stupid, aren't they.....

Quote from Scawen :Updated to Test Patch W48.

What needs testing :

SHIFT+U mode
DEMO kicking

SHIFT+U works fine now, 45fps with no cars in sight, around 20fps in a 30+ grid
dynamic lod 0.0, multiplayer speedup on

(AthlonXP 3100+ Geforce 6600GT)

Got kicked from the DEMO server, works ok...

A few minutes later all was fine (I updated to W41 in the mean time)

I also got the black screen when changing from windowed to full screen, but after 3-5 seconds normal full screen re-appeared with the message 'preloading'.
Everything fine after that..

Quote from Chaos :yup, i think its there to protect the master server from flood clicking...

Yeah, maybe I better stop to want it NOW

Also when trying to connect again and again, I get 'too many clicks, wait xx seconds', which is ok.

But when I then try to connect to another server I immediately get the same message again, so I can't connect to any server during the 'time out'

Is this normal behaviour?

test U36 with altered 'restarter'

Just went from U35 to U36, with the altered restart.exe.
After updating LFS shuts down. A question pops up 'do you want to restart LFS'. After clicking 'yes', LFS restarts in full screen, same like it always does and has focus.

The new sounds are a great effort imo.

Quote from JeffR :I just add or take away some books I have the monitor on to adjust the view.

Lol

I wonder if F1 drivers are familiar with that method

Edit: You could also add or take away books under your driving seat....

Hi there,
I used the exact same wheel for the past 3 years and overall I was happy with it.
It has good looks and reasonably solid construction
the feel of it is absolutely great, however if you have LARGE hands, you will have a problem.
It has very good FFB and lots of loose-feeling buttons that always worked perfect.

It's weak spot are the pedals. First they need greasing with WD40 or teflon or similar spray to get rid of the squeeky noise
Second, but more important is the pedals bottom plate that came apart on mine. I was able to fix it, but it was a major rebuilt.

If you can get it (new, not used!) at a reasonable price, I'd say go for it

cheers

Hi folks,

Almost decided for the Thrustmaster RGT pro...but again changed my mind and went for a used Act Labs wheel.
It is in almost new condition, comes with USB adaptor and was low priced. Not even a scratch on the pedals.
Construction seems solid, but still plastic and it looks absolutely ugly
On the bottom is a sticker that says Made in China....

I like the beltdrive ffb though. Better than the Thrustmaster plastic cogwheel system

I'm keeping my money aside for the new Act Labs wheel that will come out in the coming year or so. The one I have now will do untill then.

Cheers

Hey Butz, thx for your reply,

I can get a used but good ACT Labs Force for a fair price. I'm thinking it will last longer then a new RGT or MOMO (they fail within the first year in my experience), since it is built so much stronger...
But, is that design outdated by now?

I'd rather go for quality than features. Don't care for shifters and such
I do care for precise steering and good FFB

It's difficult to make up my mind about this.....

Quote from Kleppa :
But I have to think something out about the "quirking"-sound witch starts to be very anoying. (Any hints?).

I currently use the thrustmaster F1 FFB, which uses the exact same pedal set. Mine 'quirked' as well, which is a very annoying noise. WD40 spray made it disapear.
The pedalset didn't last long. The bottom plastic plate ripped, where the springs load it. Fixed that with a sheet of aluminium glued underneath. I reinforced the inside plastic pedalaxe-brackets with some more aluminium, screwed against the new bottomplate.
It works flawless eversince.

Today, after 3 years of (ab)use the wheel is at its end of live. (The gas and brake levers stopped working, sometimes in midrace cornering suddenly the brakes apply and overall the whole plastic package is cracked, making the wheel feel loose)

So i'm in for a new wheel. Thinking to spend around €100 the Rallye GT FF pro is an option.

How is yours holding up?

cheers,

Paka

Somewhere 2003,
After i read a report on LFS in an online game magazine
Decided to give it a go and never left LFS after that

Altough I don't have much online time lately, I'll give the forum a daily peek.
There are lots of posts that are worthwile, imo
Or just to have a laugh, like this one:

I'll hang on for a long time to come....

Quote from nikimere :Well 1st of all it has been said above plenty of times that you should unzip the CONTENTS to the data folder.... not unzip into a new folder in the data folder.

Ok, I got it. Unpacked files in HIGHRESPACK/PIC folder to DATA/PIC folder.

Quote from nikimere :Your Westhill problem sounds like something other than a texture releated problem. Try a re-install of LFS.

I found out that Westhill had stopped working, just after my feeble unzipping attempts. That made me think the two were connected.
Anyway, a fresh install did the trick. Everything fine now..

Nikimere,thanks for your advice.

Oh and the new textures are GREAT.

for the maker of those!!

Cheers,

Paka
