The one thing I save to say looks great in WRC is the stationary paddle shifters. I would love to make some for my DFP to make it easier to play RBR, because I have the shifter as the handbrake and have to play on auto transmission. It's way to hard to shift using those tiny little paddles when the wheel is spinning all over the place.
PWRC or WRC?

Which do you prefer? For me it's definatly the PWRC. Just started watching rally through torrents on racing-underground, and the PWRC is alot more interesting to watch. The cars are still stick instead of paddle and the racing seems to be closer. The only thing I don't like is that it seems to be a Suby and Mitsubishi only race. I watched the New Zealand event and the top ten were either Suby or Mitsubishi.

codemasters released 1nsane for free a bit ago. You can find it online.

netBike is based off of netKar pro and seems to do bikes very well. Check it out on youtube. With the way it's coming, i'd rather not see bieks in LFS.

all the tire moddeling info in this thread has been super informative, even though I only get most of it. So what i am getting from this is the main reason they feel so different is because the SAT curves are different, one levels off after max slip and the other drops quickly?
netKar level feedback

I was playing the netKar Pro demo today and the first thing I noticed was the FF. It was excellent. The way it gave a texture to the road, how it lost most resistance when the front wheels were sliding, how rumble strips on curbs felt, every thing. LFS's FF is nowhere near this good. You can feel the road, and what the car is doing, but not to the level you can in netKar. even if these features are in LFS, they are very very subtle.

I'd love to race, but I'm still really slow. GF, I'm having some issues with registering for your site, PM'd you about it. Does anyone have a good set for this race? I'm horrible at making a set, and the WR ones I don't really like.
Good amature rally forums?

Rally racing is something I'd like to get into, and I know that there are a few races held every year in the area I live. The problem is, I have no idea where to start, and I know no one who races here. So does anyone have links to good rally forums? I've tried google, but it just gives me crap. If it matters, I live in the NW of the USA.

Need help with set-ups

I have heard that the stock set-ups suck, so I went to setupfield and got some new ones, and like their FAQ instructs, put them in data/settings. I started up LFS, and can't see my new setup. What did I do wrong?

Also, when someone sends me a setup in the race, how do I choose it? It never appears in my setup area.

Quick tutorial, as right now that's what I'm running.

Stuff needed:
Xbox controller
Male USB cable end
Soldering Iron
Wirestrippers
Electrical tape
The ability to follow instructions.

How to do it:
Take the end of the xbox controller, and snip off the plug, nice and close to where the plug is. Strip all the wires _except_ the yellow one.

Next, take the male USB cable, and strip all four wires. Match the colors on the controller end to the wires on the USB cable end. Solder them together. The colors should be the same, red-red, white-white, black-black, and green-green. After they are individually soldered, wrap each of the connections in electrical tape to prevent a short. Or heatshrink tubing if you are careful. Goto here and follow the instructions for installing the drivers.

To configure the controller for LFS, open XBCD set-up utility, and set the triggers so they operate on the RZ+ and Z+ axis. This will let LFS see them as seperate, analogue controls. At this point, you have a working Xbox controller for your computer. If you have all the stuff, it's free.

I'm a newb as well, and would just like to say don't spend too much time in the FOX, or any car with down force at the beginning. I drove the FOX a lot at the beginning, and now found that it's a horrible way to learn. You get used to being able to push the car into the corners, but the three formula cars are so different than any others that the driving style used in the Formulas is detrimental to some of the other cars. I'm really liking the LX4 for learning the RWD, as it has enough power to spin the end out if your not careful, but it isn't bad enough to be annoying.

I went ahead and bought it. Figured I'd rather play the whole thing with a gamepad then half with a wheel.

Woops, DFP is 100$ at newegg.

I'm gonna get S2, race with a hacked Xbox 1 controller, and save for the DFP. Got the DFP and MOMO prices confused.

I fully understand that there are no S1 servers, but I am looking at getting something quick, for 100$. I can't get a DFP and S2 for 100$, which leads to my question. I have full intention of getting S2 either way, it will just be a month later if i get the DPF.
Have 100$

I've budgeted 100$ to spend on my entry to PC racing sims. Currently I'm planing on spending 60-70 on a DFP and then what I have remaining on S1, because I don't think I'll have enough for S2. Should I get the DFP and S1, or a cheaper wheel and S2? If I go with option 2, what wheel should I get? I need help deciding what to do. Definitely leaning toward number 1.
