Quote from Stang70Fastback :If my old 6800GT desktop card can run LFS at FULL (high-res texture upgrade) settings at 8x AA and 16x AS, at a resolution of 2560x1024 and still get more than 40 FPS 90% of the time... I'm sure an 8600M should be fine, lol.

You do know than an 8600M is a slower card than a desktop 8600, right?

iirc the 8600M is 6600-6800GT performance.

Yeah - I know - hence my stating 8600M (M - for mobile) as opposed to just 8600. My POINT is that if my card can handle it - his will be fine, since they are similar...
Happens that for pure luck i found that Dell is giving a 150€ discount on its notebooks until tuesday...here's the stuff in it

Core 2 duo T7250 2ghz 2 mb cache
GF 8600M GT 256 MB
2gb RAM
160GB Hard disk
wireless etc...

682€ delivered...how's that?
I hate Dells... but hey, if it works for you - go for it!

Hope it'll be a good notebook for my uses.
Well, Lenovo right now is having 16% off their ThinkPad T series models. The one I want with a T9300, nVidia Quadro NVS 570M and a few more things can be configured for about $1400 which is about 700 euros. If you have a deal like that in Italy, you may want to check it out.

Oh, and about your Dell, can't you get a bit better of a processor for about that same price? A Dell Vostro 1500 has about those same features, but I remember I configured mine with a T7500 for $1300, roughly 650 euros.
Oh man...I just checked and noticed how far off I was with this money stuff Sorry about that, now I understand your deal. That seems pretty good for under $1000, go for it.

Not your fault man,its the stupid european(and italian)market. And what's more in USA there's no VAT afaik
Yes, but in the US, they get dinged taxes of extortionate levels, but then others with none at all. Oregon (I believe) doesn't charge taxes, where as a place like California has about 7.25% (Only recalling vaguely, don't go to the bank with these values) of taxes. Canada, varies by province. BC has a 7% Provincial tax along with 5% Federal tax on goods, where as Alberta only has the Federal tax.
