Acer support forum ?
Does anyone know if Acer has support forum? My job laptop is having annoying wireless issue, wlan signal quality is 5 bars when connect and drops to 2 bars or even to 1 after some time, that causes disconnects and all that. Actually there is over 15 of machines same type suffering from similar symptom.

So I would like to read if anyone else is having similar issues with aethros 500G adapter in this Acer model.

Acer website seem to be as good quality as their computers, can't find nothing there, also google search seem to result some other boards, but not from Acer.

Example of acer quality in pic:
Have you tried changing the power-saving settings of the WLAN adapter? Or any of the advanced settings (usually found in device manager).

Yes, there is following options:
Allow windows to shutdown this device for power saving (or something like that) and I have disabled it.

That is all it has, sucks I know and if it would be my call, there never would been any Acer made machines in company, they do have certain reputation in business :P

D'oh...
Even some really crappy Averatec laptops I had worked with have more options than that for the built-in adapter. How about using the adapter manufacturer's drivers and having them control the WLAN connectivity rather than Windows? That surely gives more options.

This is Acercrap, has not such functions at all, this has shitty connection manager etc which does not offer no more than windows default network management, but consumes HUGE amount of resources.

Maybe I try and look some atheros 500G drivers from some other manufacturer :P

Oh yes, model of wireless is actually AR5005G and there might be hope to adjust wireless power in XP, but this is Vista crap also, so 2 craps makes 1 good, eh?

Yep, no avail, there is new Wlan router 2m from machine, signal starts as 80% and after 30mins drops to 35% and does not come up, when I move computer to 6m from wlan router signal is 25% anymore.

Can't find any driver that would allow to adjust any wireless power features for that Vista, so it pretty much is how it is
