Why not an Elise?
Only 1 Vauxhall worth having , and thats the Monaro...Nice British (and a bit of Aussie ) Muscle
You..... Both The old model astra was in my family. 2000 , had over 130k miles, drove and sounded and felt like new, and a 03 vectra very comfortable, all the gagdets...... relaible too..... so dun say that thats only car worth having

I have to disagree the VX220 is a great little road going cart.
I dont know about the VX220 itself, but I do know about opel speedster - it's not understeery like elise (I heard it is) it's light, and fun.
The Monaro is a great car, but the VX220 is a great fun cart
and one more thing - the Monaro is basicaly Opel Omega chassis with American V8 and aussie styling - I really dont think it's that British

The VX220 is based on the Elise IIRC.
The VX220 is the poor man's Elise. Whilst it does understeer less in normal situations, it is slower round a track than a well-driven (i.e. a driver than can use the car in such a way as to avoid the understeer) Elise of similar power.

Only people who get the VX220 should be young people, as I reckon the Vauxhall will be marginally cheaper to insure.

Both are great cars, with the correct ethos in my opinion (lightweight rather than just adding gobs of silly horsepower), but the silly styling and the crappy badge on the VX spoils it for me.

Yes. But better! And I bet anyone 10 quid if you can find the word Vauxhall anywhere on the exterior of the vehicle. Plus it has the super reliable Ecotec engine.

Get it!

the badge?

i dont think that the vx220 is a poor mans elise, well i kinda do but i prefer the look of the vx, the cars, elise and vx are built in the same factory, using 90% same parts.

inside an elise

inside a vx

i mean they even have the same speedo dials.. !

i think it just depends which you prefer, i prefer the vx, because you hardly ever see them about at all.. elises.. i see 2 - 3 a day!
The VX220 is an Elise under the bodywork, they handle very well and the N/A should have enough oomph for most people

Not what floats my boat, but if you're after a sports car this is one of the best for non-lottery money

Personally I would go for the Lotus, I think its nicer and its a Lotus

But if you prefer the VX220, then thats the one for you Very nice car, see one everyday and a Elise also everyday! Both nice
just get a Porsche 944 and let it chiptune to 300hp waaaay better
Quote from Scrabby :just get a Porsche 944 and let it chiptune to 300hp waaaay better

944s are old, can be unreliable and alot of money to repair VX220 would be a lot more reliable, along with the Elise with a toyota engine (correct me if wrong , sure you will )
Quote from jayhawk :Whoops. Um, I think I was thinking of the VX220 Turbo. Yeah....

LMAO, tenner? - Would not take it of course
Quote from Scrabby :just get a Porsche 944 and let it chiptune to 300hp waaaay better

Completely different car, lol. There's no comparison.

944s can be cheap to own and run and CAN be reliable ... cheap, fast, reliable - choose any two!
