Installed the patch not much diffrence from 70-80 FPS it drops to 15-20 at the begining.

Tried the affinity and do get just about 5-10 FPS extra which helps a lot.

I guess i just need a new graphics card. I am open to suggestions as to which card will be most suited for this PC.

graphics card? How much ya got?

Best bet would be something like a 6600GT (£50-£60), a 6800GT (getting a bit rare so i can't quite remember the price) or a 7600GT (bout £100)

The 6800GT will be about 1.6x faster than the 6600GT, and the 7600GT will be bit faster than the 7600GT

If you are only using one proccessor core and getting better fps than 2, shouldn't that mean that lfs is only taking advantage of one? illepall

And I didn't realize Pentium D's are dual core (according to the new system he posted as opposed to the old one). Correct me on this If I'm wrong as you guys are trying to help him utilize both of his cores.

personally, i'd go with the x800. its a great card. but you won't go wrong with any of the cards that Jakg or I listed here. If you want to go cheaper than 50£, then we'll come up with some suggestions for you

yes the Pentium D is a dual core (that's what the D stands for ), and yes, LFS only utilizes 1 of the processors. And the patch won't make LFS use both cores, it just fixes a bug that causes reduced performance when only using one core, as compared to a single core cpu (if that makes any sense)

Ah, ok, dual core processor, with both cores having HT but they disabled HT so its not using HT and only showing the two cores.

Fair enough, bit silly tho, as the HT is what gives it some of its power illepall
