SERVER: RGE Retro Cup (Online)

After a spectacular and successful opening race of the season, ROUND 2 of the RETRO CUP 25 Season is ready to go green this MONDAY, September 29th, LIVE ON SIMBROADCASTS

After the dangers and traps of Westhill North RGE, a very different challenge awaits the Retro Drivers for the Round 2 of the Season!

Aston RETRO is ready to deliver another exciting race, being on the calendar since the series inception, and always providing fun and close races in all classes!

Compared to Westhill North RGE, this track is quite wider and more flowing, requiring a different kind of setup and driving skills.
The speeds are fast, the corners are quick, and the dangers are there, ready to catch out drivers!

This year Aston Retro also features a banked corner before the infamous Sector 3 chicane: this banked corner will allow the drivers the opportunity to go for multiple lines during the races.

Will you keep it tight around the kerb or will you go all the way up the banking, trying to carry out big speed out of the corner?

The banking will allow for multiple lines during the race

GENERAL RACING RULES

Spoiler - click to reveal

We will not make a mile long rule book that noone will read completely anyway,so we will rely on common sence of competitors to behave and follow the basic Rules of Clean Racing. There will not be an admin in server who will specifically observe drivers' behaviour during the race,so any action will be made only after protest while all retirements will be investigated automatically. If any incidents reported/protested,we will take individual approach to each of them to decide best fair resolution or punishment if needed.

Basic guidelines as a reminder:
> Blue flag - you may not deny/block a passing manouvre of laping car and try a repass right after it. In qualification it means - stay off racing line and don't disturb drivers on hotlap.
> Shortcuts - 2 wheels on track at all times. Track is mostly marked by white lines, while also curbs count towards track. Overtaking outside track limits counts as illegal and will be penalized in case of a protest.
> Contacts - have to be avoided at all costs as always. Lap 1 contacts could be investigated and result in penalties.
> Pit exit - pit exit lines will have to be respected - drivers may not cross the pit exit line with more than 2 wheels and have to make way for cars racing at full speed. Failing to comply with this rule will award them with 10s penalty, while causing incidents will result in bigger penalty. Pit entry lines will not be monitored, they serve just as guidelines.
> Chatting - it's not completely outruled, but still drivers are expected to concentrate on racing. In case of too much chatting while ignoring messages asking to cease chatting,a penalty may be given. In case of any abusive/offensive language a penalty will be given! Any in server present observers/spectators are not allowed to chat at all during race session!
> Lags - if there are any connection issues, driver will be asked to improve (close internet using programs). If driver will be considered as dangerous due to unstable connection and high ping,he will not be allowed to participate at the current round.
> Hacks/cheats - if used, you will not race with us. Ever. As simple as that.

Possible penalties:
> WARNING - any minor infraction that needs to be noted without penalty. Warned driver might receive bigger penalty for other infractions.
> 10s added to finish time - minor infractions, like illegal passing, pit exit line violation, too much chatting.
> 30s added to finish time - medium infractions, like causing avoidable incident[s] without serious consequences, illegal passing.
> 60s added to finish time (1 lap penalty in rounds 2 and 3) - medium infractions, like causing avoidable incident[s] with consequences to other drivers (like damage, multiple position loss) or unsportsmanlike behaviour.
> Disqualification for 1 or more rounds - heavy infractions, multiple incidents, unsportsmanlike behaviour. After serving disqualification, driver will automatically carry a "warning" for the rest of season.
> Series exclusion (including ban for any other events run under Race Green Events control) - serious infractions like intentional/revenge wrecking, event sabotage and any other malicious act.

46 Retro drivers presented themselves at the gates of Aston, for the second round of the Retro Cup 25 Season.
However, only top 40 drivers qualified for the race and lined up on the packed starting grid.

Under the Retro banners and sponsors spread all around the track, Round 2 was green for 90 minutes of intense racing and insane drama!

The race was a race of attrition: Aston Retro proved to be an even tougher challenge than Westhill North RGE, with lots of drivers having to retire due to big crashes and contacts with other slower classes.

Out of the 40 starting drivers, only 17 managed to reach the chequered flag safely, that was a tough day for the Retro Drivers out there!

If you missed this race, you can relive the entire event on SBTV!

PROTOTYPE 1

The Zafiralis domination continues in Retro Cup 25, in the person of ZFRL Thehemuli.
The finnish ace proved once again a superior racecraft compared to his rivals, beating S1DUS Unite for Pole Position and leading the race from Lap 1 to Lap 42.

Thehemuli is smooth as silk in traffic, taking his time to overtake the slower cars, and pushing at an unmatched pace in the rest of the race.

He extended his lead lap after lap over the S1dus driver, Unite, who tried to hang on in the first half of the race, before crashing out of the race in the latter stages.

RG^Rony took advantage of the situation and managed to climb back up to P2 in class, despite a few mistakes during the race and a heated battle with the Prototype 2 of RG^Lorenzo.

CRAACH had all kind of troubles during the race, smashing into the wall after touching the grass in the fast, first corner, but managed to continue, repair the car and finish P3 in class.

Thehemuli's teammate, LG^Mies, had a smoother race compared to Westhill North RGE, despite a difficult start, finishing P4 in class and collecting precious points.

PROTOTYPE 2

Mazdarati is on a mission: he made things clear since the qualifying session, by taking Pole Position with a big margin over B2R Twincam and RG^Lorenzo.

In the race he was smooth, consistent, diligent in traffic, making a difference comparable to what Thehemuli is doing in LMP1's.

Despite that, in the first half of the race the gaps were quite close in LMP2, with Twicam, Lorenzo and Simox not far from the Martini driver, but they all encountered some kind of drama along the way that made the gap to extend bigger and bigger.

First drama happened on Lap 10, where RG^Lorenzo went wide while in traffic, after the "Eau Rouge" of Live For Speed: [SQUID] Simox didn't manage to slow down his LMP2 and hit the back of RG^Lorenzo, sending him into a spin and damaging his suspension to critical levels.

Simox had more troubles shortly after, hitting the Road Leader Trespasser in the chicane and sending him onto his roof.

Meanwhile, the two Born To Race cars of Twincam and Rayman took advantage of the situation, jumping into P2 and P3, despite some mistakes along the way.

But Mazdarati was untouchable in front, ending the race in solitary and dominant fashion, second win in a row!

GROUP 5

Who can stop S1DUS Gàbor?

The S1DUS driver came into Aston with a fresh, new livery on his Group 5 Musting. Overflowing with confidence, Gàbor proved once again he's the Group 5 alien this season, scoring another impressive Pole Position ahead of kyrl and Lagooga.

But it was in the race that Gàbor made all the difference, staying out of trouble and making close to zero mistakes all race long.
The S1dus driver pace was unmatched, so fast that he often found himself ahead of some of the LMP2 cars, involved in crashes.

Behind him, it was a race of attrition: most of the Fend Musting field crashed out at different points during the race: the ones who kept it cleaner were [Syn] Hiwatt and #977 T.Zlatanov, who spend most of the race close together.

ROAD CLASS

While B2R Stiefla got the pole on his Jaegermeister Porsche, it was [MRC] Suforr who took the lead after the opening laps, showing great pace from the get go.

But the pack was separated by just a few seconds, with B2R Stiefla and Trespasser close by, followed by the [email protected] Madjester trio.

First big drama came on Lap 3, where the LMP2 car of W/dod1slaw took way too much risks trying to overtake the bunch of GT cars, ending up with crashing into the Road leader Suforr in huge fashion.

Stiefla was also touched by the LMP2 car during the high speed crash, but managed to continue, following Trespasser who took the lead.

But further drama came at Lap 10, when it was Trespasser who was taken out by the other LMP2 car of [SQUID] Simox, at the chicane.

B2R Stiefla saw all this drama in front of his very eyes, and took the lead of the race, extending the gap lap by lap over the closest competitors.

Behind the leader it was a close three way battle between SGR Madjester, S.Martin and RG^M@ci3K, with the two Porsche drivers overtaking the Piran of Madjester in the second half of the race, before entering in a head to head battle, that lasted till the last few laps.

At the end, it was S.Martin who managed to take P2 behind Stiefla, with RG^M@ci3k, the porsche whisperer back on the podium!

Top 5 was completed by SGR Madjester and O.A, with Hermanni having his own race at the back of the field, with multiple incidents.

Frustration for the Westhill North RGE Winner, GUM||Donald, who timed out during the first part of the race and never rejoined, losing a lot of points in the process.
