Who won this race?
Tricky question.

If there is a discrepancy in the results generated by LFS, it is probably that the centre of the car crossed the line during the same 100th of a second.

Anyway, in the new version of LFS, the front of the car is used instead of the car model's origin, so it doesn't matter about different cars, plus the accuracy of results is much improved by the 1000Hz physics.
I think loco Omg omg omg
Not me

Quote from jackson93 :Tricky question.

It depends on the admin rules for that race. If it was FIA rules, the green car (I don't know who the drivers are) would've lost that race because all 4 wheels are over the white line and off track.

For average LFS race rules, the green car wins in my humble opinion.

Going over white lines in LFS is 90% of the time HLVC clean, so its fair, HLVC overwrites FIA rules Thumbs up

Ok i didnt take the calculator out or typed any numbers in the computer but by my calculations, and especially considering the fact that at 90m/s (325Km/h) that 100Hz is 0.01 seconds and the accuracy for the faster car in each time interval would equate to 90 x 0.01 (90 mm)
i say this wins
(btw, let me know if posting pictures full screen is bad, because in my case is good - no more unsolicited edits pleaseCool ok maybe i also have to write that im joking idk Shrug

In LFS majority of admins (excluding the TRRC people 5 years ago) are very liberal regarding white lines enforcing track limits with physical track and allowing curbs as extension (good old "minmum 2 wheels on track at all times" rule). But occasionally people ignore even these, like this guy:

Anyway, from what I know, the actual question was set regarding timing as Scawen already recognized, because I recall messages in Discord saying that white car was set as winner in LFS results. Similar situation happened in AWS 2024 season finale, where I had to overrule original LFS results in favour of driver who actually reached the line first:

LFS results put the #74 YES car as winner then.

But as Scawen already said - these problems will be avoided after the big update with both 1000Hz timing and better car body tracking.

Compounding this error on official tracks (without custom checkpoints) is that a finish line was determined by one of the path nodes, which are not necessarily exactly perpendicular to the track direction or aligned with the finish line. It just used a nearby path node.

That is no longer the case in the development version, which uses checkpoints like the custom checkpoints.

Also recently I fixed a bug where positions of two nearby cars could switch often under some circumstances (that was related only to the live positions list, shown on screen and output to InSim, not affecting race results).
real life examples:
In this autocross rulebook: https://www.dmsj.org/de/meisterschaften/autocross/file/296149

It says they use 1/100s accuracy.
"Die Zeitnahme erfolgt per Transponder; Zeitmessung und Zeitangabe erfolgen in 1/100 Sekunden."

The timing transponder usually must be mounted near the center of the car.
Screenshot from a different rulebook that has pictures:

It also says that in "head to head" situations the front of the car is used. That is decided by officials, but it is not specified how or when it is done.

Are even track limits a thing in LFS? I mean if you don't get punished for it, why not use it to your advantage.
Fair play.

In LFS there are no rules beside speeding in pitlane, premature starts and entering restricted areas. Everything else is social constructs.
