Finding more speed with formula BMW at blackwood.
I have been looking at the WR laps for this combination and i have noticed a couple of things that i'm not able to do.

I can't enter the turn as wide because braking on the rumble strips is a recipie for disaster for me.(they seem to "push" me in the wrong direction)

After turn 1 the WR guys just fly over the three kerbs at ful throttle, if i do this i spin immediately.

I can't accelerate out of turns very well, the WR guys floor it before the apex sometimes while i have to be verry gently and make sure i haven't got too much lock on or i spin, putting full power down in the last corner is also very tricky for me.

I started messing with wing angles and i found an improvement in the turns but i topped out at 200 kph on the straight.

Do you guys have tips for me on how to handle these issues.

(Also how do i get my tyres up to temperature quicker.)
Have you tried different setups? .. That can solve the braking, kerbs and accelerating..
Also a replay of your laps would be nice
I use the setupfield setups.(the ones with realistic times)

What is it about a setup that aloows me to brake on rumble strips or fly over kerbs or take ridiculous apex speed?

I was thinking that it might be HOW i brake or HOW i go over kerbs.
(What is it that you guys do?)

i used to think the same when watching the faster racers, all i can advise is to find a setup that you feel at ease with and most importantly relax while racing also another problem i had at first was going a little too fast and late into corners, il pm you a link with a few setups that ive collected over the past 2 years and you can see if theres one that you like and if you like to id meet you on a server and see if i can see where you may be going wrong,
im not one of faster racers(1.12.62pb) but ive done my fair share of laps so hopefully could help

ive over 40.000 laps on fbm on blackwood and still dont always get it right for sc1
First of all thanks for the setups, i will try them tomorrow .
But i still have the feeling that the rumble strips push me to the outside of the track and the brakes feel different.

(i would expect that braking with 2 wheels on the rumble strips and 2 wheels on the track would end in a spin)

Also i read somewhere that i should use the least amount of wing possible to get a more stable car.........wich sounds weird....
id say its theres more chance it being down to the suspension settings ect, ive used 6-6 wing and got the same laptimes as with 5-4.obviously the right wing setting would help to get the better approach also i guess that having the preload set too high could possibly cause too much spin,(im not 100% sure if it does but il do a couple of test.also try to keep all movements of the steering as smooth as possible

another thing if your using 3rd gear as you go over the bump that could cause too much spin, use 4th gear as you get an extra little boost when hitting the kerb.

ive helped a few racers on our servers to improve there laptimes and most of them have even beat my pb time. good luck and let me know if i can help in any way and id be happy to

are you trying to turn and brake at the same time by any chance?

another good possiblity,i used to do it myself
when u brake over rumbles (first turn, long straight and first of last sector only places used) keep car as straight as possible if it tries still to spin dont push brakes as hard as before... try again until works / feels too slow then change setups. (sometimes if u go slow in turn u get quicker out of the corner.)

so basicly dont lock ur brakes and dont turn while braking. these helpd me to get my pb below 1:17. now doing 1:14 just as thinking about it.
(275 spins later).....
The Wr setup felt alot better when accelerating out of turns and the braking on the rumble strips felt crazy at first (with the vribrations trough the weel) but i'm starting to get it down.

(After trying another setup i went back to the Wr setup and i could not drive it....)

The hardest part for me is turn 2, could somebody describe the line trough there.
Using a higher gear seemed to help but it was 3rd not 4th in my case.
I'm using the gearbox in automatic mode (because i don't want to think about too much)

I guess i will have to learn it the hard way now so could somebody give me tips on shifting in the FBM.(i noticed i had to lift of a bit to shift into 4th but how much exactly?)
I wonder if the complete loss of traction on grass is realistic, it feels like i'm on ice even at 3 kph.... and because i crash so much it is very annoying....
trust me using automatic itself will make you so much slower.id say it would be best to use manual.i understand that its an extra thing to think about while driving but it will become second nature,

il look through my replays and find some that show the line correctly then send to you

i just use the sound of the engine for shifting-and always keeping the revs low on entry to a bend unless its a flat out bend.
