G25 Problem !Fixed! :)
A few months ago my G25 force feedback stopped working, iirc it was still steering ingame.

Recently I dug around for a fix and found this,

http://macnetwork.wordpress.com/2010/10/30/129/

I bought the required parts (both mosfets) and cleaned one of the motors as the one with the black cap on was fine.

Yesturday I plugged the wheel into my PC, recognized in Windows. Then I plugged in the Power supply, the wheel calibrated itself but no where near as fast as it should (I could also smell burning)

Anyone know what it could be? dead motor?

Or I guess I'll have to buy a new wheel (Probably a Fanatec as even the G27 suffers from this fault..)
Possibly, do you know anyone else with a working g25 who'd be willing to let you try their PCB in you wheel and vice versa?
That is all I can think of to isolate if it is the motors or the PCB.

My brother has a g25 too but as his is fully working I dont want to risk damaging his lol
well, I'm afraid that is the only idea I have to identify where the fault is, sorry

Yeah, I don't get that it calibrated and was working, I moved the wheel left to right and it was strong and then loose, but then it started to smell bad so I unplugged it lol..
Just cleaned the motors again and now it tries to calibrate at normal speed but it goes from right to left and left to right and stays right.

Does anyone know what it could be??

My G27 did the same thing. It didn't calibrate correctly either and always ended up being turned all the way to the right (or left, can't remember anymore). When I tried using it in LFS, it just kept losing the center.

I tried fixing it by tightening a screw on one of the motors, following some tutorial on the web - not sure it's the same thing with the G25 motors. It helped out for a few hours and then the problem reoccurred. I also tried all the more common things, like disconnecting everything, removing the driver and so on, but nothing helped and I gave up trying to fix it.

Thanks for the advice Can you show me the tutorial or tell me which motor to tighten?

Will give it ago anyway as I don't really want to buy a new wheel lol..

Of course - here's the guide I used:

Thanks, I see the G27 has an extra screw which my G25 doesn't have, maybe they added it to fix that problem lol?

I gotta get the steering rack lined up and hopefully it will fix the wheel, although I'm confused on how to do it lol, but I'm sure trial and error will sort that

Good luck - I hope you'll fix it.

All fixed

I re-aligned the steering rack and also tighten up the screw on the encoder as it was abit loose. Had a few problems with the right shifter paddle getting stuck and not working but I managed to fix it now.

Thanks for the help guys, saved me having to buy a new wheel
