Help!!!!! Hosts
OK here we go.................I am trying to get onto the tracks and when I press to display the hosts, I get the 711 hosts that are active and then as it goes through the hosts it comes up with "Can join 58 and "No reply 711", when I look at the 58 that have come up every one of them has no players whatsoever, any ideas please as this is driving me crazy as the system was working ok a few days ago!!!!!!!!

Thanks
using a crappy router, perhaps?

You can use the server browser on LFSWorld instead of the one ingame too...

Clickety

(Link will show populated S1 & S2 public hosts only, sorted by number of racers. You can change what you want and bookmark the URL.)
Turn off any torrents or other services that uses large amounts of bandwidth. If you have an wireless accsess point, turn on encryption/password if you haven't allready (otherwise other people might be using all your bandwidth). If your computer picks up multiple accsess points close by with strong signal, change the wifi channel so to avoid crosstalk/interference with your neighbours wireless network. You can use i.e inSIDer 2.0 (freeware) to scan the area and determine the wifi channel with least interference.

Its Virgin, so broAdband is via cable

Hi Not using wifi at all, linked to cable broadband

So you get an internet cable straight from the house that goes in to your PC, and does not go in to a router or something first?
That image is stored on your computer. We can not see it, unless you upload the image for instance here on this forum.
Did virgin Provide a Cable modem; Coax cable in, ethernet cable out? if so, turn it of for a minute a turn it back on.
Or does the ethernet cable plug into the back of the TV decoder box? again turn it off for a minute and turn it back on.
These boxes often "throw a wobbler" and rebooting them can stop them missbehaving.

After you have done the test click on "share this result" then click "copy" then paste that link here.
Forward / open the incoming ports (TCP/63392,UDP/63392), and make sure the outgoing port (TCP/29339) is also open.
*edit*
Also check the options in the browser menu in game (is it set to race cruise real hard etc, have you changed TCP empty private?)

Wow thanks for the reply but this has gone way above my head lol, can you explain to a lay person !!!!!
http://en.lfsmanual.net/wiki/H ... rwarding_.2F_Home_Routers

basically you need to find Ip of router.cable modem usually 192.1681.100 or sometimes 192.168.100.1 / (sometimes its stuck on the device)

Then type that address into your browser this will take you to login page usually username/pw is root/root (even tells you on the login page)
then from there you should have the options to ammend NAT rules firewall etc. If you have a cable modem, check antivirus and firewall software as you will have a WAN IP address assigned to your NIC not a translated one via NAT.

IE your IP assigned router will be on the local range unless other specified ie in DMZ.
192.168 (local range)
if on cable modem
86.125. (external range)

easy way to find this is open a MSDOS prompt (start menu > accessories > command prompt.

type IPCONFIG /ALL

Anyways that should help you work out whats happening / maybe try this thread or this
These are the details I get when I carry out the ping and trace tests, any ideas??

# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost
Seems like you have open ports to communicate with master server.
Could you take a screenshot of a multiplayer lobby (see screenshot for example) and upload it either here, www.imageshack.us or a similar site?
