Mhmm, she had two solo albums out the last time i looked although one was a bit Christmassy. I lost my music collection recently and don't remember which is which but I think 'My Winter Storm' had a couple of good songs on.

Personally I preffer Edenbridge to Nightwish, although they've split now. After Forever are better still.

Dunno if any of you have listened to any Fishbone but they cross into punk and rock and metal amongst other genres. In terms of musicianship, their original line-up is still probably the best band I've ever seen.

Norwood is my greatest musical hero (OK him and Ian Dury can fight it out). He comes across as a terrible stoner in this video, but that's because he's a terrible stoner. He's also one of the best bass players on the planet, and... just... he's just Norwood. You might not be able to sit through this, I just love it: Norwood Teaches Basically Nothing About Playing Bass Guitar.

I do rather like them, I got into the Reality of My Surroundings because I was looking for something a bit like the album the Chilli Peppers did with Dave Navarro IMO.

Rock is great with added jazz or funk, two favourite examples would be Steely Dan and Tower of Power.

My taste in music is terrible.

My first proper girlfriend's dad was into Steely Dan, I think that put me off them (although he was a ****ing cat of the highest order, I couldn't listen to the same bands as my girlfriend's dad!). I've seen T.O.P. a few times when they had Rocco playing bass for them. I don't know if he's back with them now or not, but him and Garibaldi were an absolute mother****er of a rhythm section, they blew everybody away. I still like to knock out What Is Hip? and Oil In The Ground sometimes when I sit down to just jam along to some funk tunes.

You'd probably like Average White Band too. And maybe some of the old Acid Jazz acts from the early '90s. Check out Galliano's first album 'In Pursuit Of the 13th Note' - it's basically some early London rappers, the drummer and organ player from the Style Council, some ethnic percussion and a bunch of sessioneers, some very jazzy but accessible stuff on it.

I believe they have a reputation for exactly that; being a band only people's dads like, I suppose thats how I got to like them.

Still, their albums feature some of the greatest session musicians of the 70s, their live performances were not so brilliant though.

You just can't help but like it, when they do funk it makes you want to move, not so keen on when they did slow ballads though.

FF are the first band I ever properly got into, and one of their songs is the first metal song I ever thought 'wow, this is amazing' (the instrumental version of Zero Signal on the Carmageddon intro ). The album Demanufacture marks a huge turning point in pretty much the outlook of my entire life.

Genitorturers have just announced they're booking a European tour with the announcement they're playing a festival in Liepzig in May and more Euro dates to follow. That's got me pretty excited and I'm totally going to atleast one gig even if I've got to go alone.

In other news the Dragonforce singer is getting kicked out of the band. They're going to say it's an amicable split but he doesn't even know About this himself yet - oh and I'm a total bitch for telling you all this, but it's totally worth it.
