Pre season qualification?
As it stands now, we have a few too many entrants, this can be tackled in a few ways, but I am wondering if it would be fairer to have a hotlap competion.

Thoughts/suggestions?

Dan,
What if we do a superpole using the car you are going to use.

i dont know. i dont really care what you do
but if somthing would be fair it would be either hotlap or superpole
Yeah, the superpole option would be with the league car you are going to use.

Superpole just before the event? That would be cruel to those that get dropped, after practicing and turning up. Would be easier to take hotlap times that can be done between now and deadline.

I voted hotlap with the car you intend racing with, no point hotlapping in a car you're not going to use in the league.

Since there is a difference in world record times between the 2 cars, how about applying the difference as a handicap?
i.e. if hotlap is at Blackwood GP, the difference between RAC and FZ5 is 0.15 sec - FZ5 entrants get 0.15 sec knocked off their hotlap time.

I'd find it quite disappointing to have practiced well over 250 laps and then be let down from the league because someone else who is faster joined later.
I don't want to practice for a league where I can "perhaps" race.

How about a prequal for each race? I'm sure not everybody will be able to show up at every race, that has been the case in every league I've seen. So, if someone doesn't show up for whatever reason, next one on the hotlaps chart could take his place. This makes things complicated for organisers but I think its worth it. Otherwise we won't be having full grids of 23 people and those who dropped out before the season would be frustrated not to be able to race when there's a space for them after all.

So a system with joining each race on the website would be needed, and 23 with best hl times will be in the race, but with a possibility to pull back from next race before some deadline? Don't know how much difficult that would be to make.

I agree with Vain - it takes time to prepare for a race, so would be frustrating not being able to race. It used to happen in F1 a few years back, when they had too many cars for the grid. Slightly different for a professional driver not racing though; they still get paid!

Hotlaps would be fair, but that can take up a lot of time, especially if you're struggling to make the grade.

Superpole would be good. Takes a little less time to prepare for, and the pressure ensures that the outcome will not always be the same.

If (or should I say when ) more people join, perhaps a 'b' series could be an option?

Whichever is adopted, I think that there should be a penalty for anybody that doesn't turn up for a race without advising the organiser. There's enough interest here for a full grid, so it would be a shame if people are excluded and the grid is not full. Could be something like a one race ban?
Fair enough guys, It will be a first come, first served basis.

I was thinking of a 2 server league, but its too late now.

Dan,

What if there is not a full grid on the day?if i'm there can i then join in,don't spose even enough space to spectate
I can't see any reason why not, if there was space, the only problem is, it would mess up the standings.

Dan,
For ease of standings etc, I am going to close the member list, if your name doesnt appear on the current members thread, then you are not entered, sorry, if the season goes well, and we have enough interest in season 2 I can run a 2 server league.
