Okay

This has zero to do with LFS, but....

I'm trying to install a program in MUF on a MUCK that I run in Linux

It needs to be compiled.

1. Can I compile over FTP?

2. If so, How?
nope, FTP isn't really a shell. do you have SSH access?
No

Tech support said they can't compile it for me and I'm best compiling it on my own system.

Ah well, time to grab Cygwin then?
Unlikely it will work as cygwin will just compile an exe, which linux (without WINE, but still will fail as it's compiled to use cygwin's stuff) can't use.

You might be SOL here.
Hmm

I'll see if I can google it

Failing that, I can put a live CD in and compile it, save the stuff to a memory stick right?

The issue is, becuase you don't have shell access, how will you execute it?

cgi maybe.

I'll recommend vmware or virtualbox image to run linux under windows.
Okay, what if:

I put the file on a memory stick under Windows
Boot with a linux livecd
Get shell access
(try to) compile the file under the live CD
Save compiled file to memory stick

Would that work?

Maybe, if the live cd has a build environment, but then you might get into trouble when trying to run the file on a different system, because of mismatches in system libraries etc.
