KillZone 2 (PS3)
Hi,
i was just wondering if anyone has played the demo of this? I got the demo today and i'm impressed. Is anyone looking to buy it when it comes out? I'm going to see if i can get it for my birthday.

My PSN is Brandons48. If you add me tell me your LFS name so i know where you got my name from.

I found the demo very impressive, made me want to get the full game.
Played the demo and was like, meh, can't understand the fuss, just seems like a boggo standard run of the mill "run and gun" to me.

Multiplayer is freakin amazing, gunplay, sounds, graphics are porn.. play the demo couple of times, everytime it's different, hit response system is awesome, the animations, etc..
Demo seemed pretty good but the controlls to me feel a bit slugish, it's as though you are turning in treacle...

It looks amazing however and Ihave it on preorder so we will see what the final result is like....
I loved the first one (only console shooter that I really enjoyed) and I'm definitely excited for this one. Maybe I'll see if I can steal someone's wireless connection here in rez and nab the demo. I've never had my PS3 on the internet so I'll probably have to endure 20 minutes worth of updates, but I wanna try the demo.
Downloaded and played through the Demo last night, it's ok i guess, but there wasn't any new wow factor for me though. It just seems like any other shooter, but with different characters and story

Yup, agreed whole heartedly, once you scrape through the (mooooohasive) hype, it's just another shooter, it doesnt add anything new to the genre.
I enjoyed it. The controls took a bit of getting used to, but then I think that about every PS3 shooter. I want the controls to match CoD4 on the 360 and they hardly ever do. But once I got over that it was pretty good.
Push-to-cover system was a little clunky (although that may have just been down to me getting used to the controls) and I can imagine most people not bothering with it at all other than when absolutely necessary.

Voice acting was solid, some nice set pieces, really nice engine, decent scope for multiplayer. It might be "yet another FPS" but if you ignore that and judge it on it's own merits it is pretty good.

I found the aiming button as R3 annoying, but if you change controller settings to Alternative 2, L1 is aim, and R3 is Melee (I think) it's much easier.
Yup, it was Alternate 2 I ended up using as well. I gave up on the triggers and just went with the bumpers instead. Of course I keep accidentally hurling the odd grenade

That's because there are physics here Everything has weight and inertia to it, it's not like other shooters.. once you got used to it it is incredible. I only played shooters on PC before, am avid CS fan and thought i could never shoot with the gamepad, but KZ2 kinda feels natural, it's great that weapons have real weight, and that you can't turn like superman, you are actually carrying like 50 kilos of equipment plus your own weight, it's a first game that does this right.

As for other doubters, i'm kinda sick a bit, so i don't have the strenght to go into arguments, just play the demo a couple of times, watch some multiplayer gameplay, like these two clips for example

(these are bots on the map, not real people)

And please forget the "it doesn't add anything new to the genre" What does that MEAN actually, ask yourself..

Shooters have had "physics" since the year dot

As for "it doesn't add anything new to the genre", that means, it doesn't do anything specific to warrant the HUGE amounts of hype that it has been generating.

EDGE got it right with 7/10, TBH, if this is the PS3's killer app this year, I am kinda worried for the PS3.

I did play the demo, 3 times, and each time I was like, meh, whats the big deal about.
Name one shooter that does add something new to the genre though? They are all the same. Halo, Gears of War, Army of Two, Killzone... ? They are essentially the same thing, that's the nature of FPS games. Killzone had an awesome atmosphere which I liked, and I like the story (I love dystopian stories, and Killzone fits that perfectly).
Quote from MAGGOT :They are essentially the same thing

Exactly my point, just what DOES warrant the massive hype of KZ2

To attract people who are easily amused but still have an attention span significantly larger than your average house fly?
I think i've never played the firts one, so i'm not a fan or something.

I didn't follow the news regarding KZ2, but have seen the occasional comment or add somewhere. It's not like i was interested enough to do some research, but i was wondering about what exactly would make it so special... since ther was obviously a hype going on.

I haven't tried the demo, but judging from the videos:

I don't see anything really different from any other shooter. It looks really nice and kind of "dynamic"... Is it the atmosphere of the game that the fans like so much (because it's indeed not too bad from the looks)? Nevertheless, it's still just an FPS?

Maybe it doesn't help that i'm not a big fan of FPS games. I just get bored very easily of running around and shooting at people. Which this game still is in the end... as nice as it may look, and as good as the "physics" may be.

But what the hell do i know...
Quote from danowat :Exactly my point, just what DOES warrant the massive hype of KZ2

It's just an uterly polished shooter, what do you expect it to add? A new revolutionary way of interacting with the game, by having a virtual helmet and you have to run through your room, and when you get tired the characther in the game also gets tired? It never promised anything like that... It has the best graphics, ever.. don't judge it by the demo level (although you can also notice that in the demo), the lightning system, animations, hit response system where finaly you feel that every bullet made an inpact, massive atention to details, shoot the gas tanks in the demo and they will always fly differently depedning where you shot them, etc..
The enemy AI is very very smart, the multiplayer component is also high class, just see for yourself a bit, don't expect a "one sentence explanation"..

AS others have said: The gullible morons that comprise the console-playing race.

But it seems to me that you dislike the game because of the hype. That to me doesn't make sense. I've not yet played the demo but I am sure I will enjoy it as I immensely enjoyed the original. I'm not an FPS fan, either. In fact, I'm not really even a gamer. I play LFS and RBR on the PC and on my PS3 I only play Saints Row 2.
