Quote from menantoll :I think it show's a complete disregard to others. Or should I really just lighten up?

Lighten up fella... as Chris said after race pile ups are part of LFS culture. Some people like doing burn outs, some people like to ram the guy that was leading the race for 6 laps and almost impossible to catch... it's a vent of frustration and I rarely see people complaining about it happening. Those that are totally anal and want to "save the motors in their FFB wheel" just pit/spectate and get out of the mayhem...

With all these rules in racing, you gotta have a little vent here and there.

Get in Single Seater 1 as well, there is a lot of good racing to be had there and I usually swap between open wheel and tin tops to avoid boredom of a particular format.

I almost think Brand's resignation was one he was happy to make. He's probably bored of a regular radio show with his new fame in the US. This really isn't news, a lot of nonsense over some pretty light comments. Brand's a smart man, he has plenty of other work to be getting on with and it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up on another station or Satellite radio... hmm Russel with Howard Stern!

Sam, Can I make two suggestions for changes to the website?

1. Can you make it possible so we can sort by the "Diff" and "Track" columns on our personal best charts? I find it useful to see where I have a big difference in times with the WR and also analyse by track to see if certain cars i'm loosing time on.

2. I like the way the "Diff" time is in red for very large differences. Any chance you could maybe colour cells in green for when the diff is within 5% or so of the WR?

Quote from dawesdust_12 :.. Never did I say I read the report (or watched the replay), all I said is that the X-System ain't ****ing up, and in fact that his account DID have a MRJ restriction.

And all fixed now, I just wanted to report this incase it was indeed a bug.

Thanks Sam. I thought this report was close to the line and I hoped I was interpreting the rules as written.

I just tried to mid race join on UF-BR and was told I am currently barred from mid race joins. Yet I don't see anything in my profile or have any reports which are a result of mid race joins. Any idea why this might be so?
Anyone follow the Grand AM Rolex racing?

I usually record the races from http://www.grand-am.com/rolex/ and today realized that the fella from Grays Anatomy, Patrick Dempsey, drives an MX8. Good lad

The GT racing is awesome and I love the Daytona Prototypes, hopefully LFS will get something like those cars in the next release.

I cannot wait to get in the BF1...

I love the CTRA system, it's great, really. But i'm just biding my time, scraping away at the points, dreaming of the day where i'm in a 10-15 grid race all in the BF1. At this rate i'm at least 6 months away... but hey, gotta have goals in life eh?

On a similar note... is there any chance the CTRA type admin peeps could post up a count of who has what license? Be nice to know how many have the International A/B, National A/B etc.

Actually, another nice idea would be a congratulations page where those who have just gone up a license level are listed. You could have a list of each license type and who has just gone into that category and keep users on the page for 7 days past the license attainment. I often race with about 20 odd of the same people (you know who you are ) and it would be nice to know when a racing companion has just gotten the chance to race the FJR... plus it would be nice to see how quickly the drivers enmass in the CTRA are advancing the ranks.

Sam and CTRA devs, any chance you can allow for the sorting of "Personal Bests on CTRA servers" by diff? I like to look at my times and see where I need to make improvements and also which tracks I am closest to the WR.

I had an awesome couple of Race 3 races at the weekend, I can't remember the name of the guy I was racing, but some excellent door to door action and real good attitudes between drivers. I never really got on with Race 2, but find GT2 in Race 3 way way more fun.

Quote from RS1T :I dont know why everyone is getting so worked up about the drugs thing...it is completely harmless. The only this it could possibly result in is a ten year old kid asking his mum, What is valium??? It has nothing to do with drugs, apart from the names. You buy them at a certain price, which constantly varies, so you have to use your Brain to work out when is a good time to buy and sell. It is just like a minature version of the stock market just with the items named as drugs to make the server seem more fun, and ppl saying 'ohh what kind of sad person would play because of the drugs' just piss me off. The drug thing is just a disguise to make simple stock market techniques appear more interesting, as economics is as boring as shit tbh. And anyway this topic has gone off topic completely from some guy who was just wondering if another demo server could be opened up. People like the LC server because it lives up to its name - ITS LIBERAL. It is more fun than the TC server because you dont loose 100 euros per second if you go 10mph over the speed limit, they allow you to use more fun cars like the MRT and FBM, and you dont get banned for making the slightest mistake. So please i beg all of you idiots, STOP posting things about 'ohh why would anyone want to play on LC' its just a waste of your post, it is not constructive and does not help anybody

Mech, I would highly recommend driving on the Single Seater 1 server (SS1). It is also entry level and open to all, but I find in general the quality of racing is far far better than the Race 1 server. I've recently had some stunning races where the entire field pretty much makes the whole race with minimal incidents and often the top 10 cars are within 2/3 turns of each other.

Plus I find the FBM car much more of a racer than the tin tops in Race 1, I learnt how to go much quicker in SS1 than I ever did in Race 1.

Eeek, do I get there feeling there is some tension between you guys?

Quote from Dru :But bearing in mind that the OP has already changed his mind by contradicting everything he wanted after you (Becky) made your original post I don't think the suggestion is gonna be going any further anyhow..

I don't understand, I still like the idea of a pit stop and only agreed with Becky that the on track close action is everyones goal. I think pit stops would continue that close action with even more pressure. Imagine if the top 3 drivers, all within a few car lengths of each other, all dived into the pits.

Any way, I think this idea is already a dead duck from the comments so far

Quote from Becky Rose :When I was in CTRA I always said forced pitstops would be over my dead body.

Never short of a strong opinion
Quote from Becky Rose :
Here's why:

The destroy the on track action.

I dont know what reasons you guys race for, but I love going wheel to wheel with other cars, I dont want to hotlap.

I agree...
Quote from Becky Rose :
The moment you introduce pitstops you introduce a system for not fighting other cars, because i'm a racer i'll use the pitstop to get myself involved in as few battles on track as possible because this is the fastest way.

To be honest i've not raced with pitstops for a loooong time. I my naive mind I thought that due to the high quality of close racing in CTRA that the action would still be close, and that pit stops might add a new element to it. I could be totally wrong however.
Quote from Becky Rose :
It's not the most fun way though.

If the system was changed so that there was a window of only 2 or 3 laps to do the stop then that would help, but all the same, you're still introducing a system designed to allow people not to fight each other on track - I dont see the point.

The point being that in the past few weeks i've had many SS1 races with nearly 80% of the field completing the race in the first half of the track. I wondered what it would be like to be in first place and have the pressure of a pit stop looming...
Quote from Becky Rose :
If you want to hotlap there's a hotlapping option in LFS.

Nope, not interested in hot lapping. I had just been watching GP2 and thought that the whole pitstop strategy was fun and in a 10-15 lap race there could be room for a mandatory stop. Esp in the SS1 races i've had recently the lead cars run so close together that there would be real pressure to get in and out of the pits cleanly.

I also thought that it would promote a few things.
  • Sometimes when trying to catch a car, or when under pressure from another racer, you push your tyre temps high. A pitstop would be a great way to keep you competitive.
  • Pit stop times depend on how much damage the car has taken. A mandatory stop could give you a chance to repair those T1/T2 incidents and again remain competitive.
pitstops on SS endurance days

I've just been catching up on GP2 races on my PVR. In GP2 they have a mandatory pitstop, no refueling, just a tyre change. I was wondering what would be the chance of doing a mandatory pitstop when the SS servers are on endurance days?

The racing on CTRA servers is of such a high quality that I think it would be a really nice challenge to time your tyre wear (esp on SO tracks) so that you can get a position on track with a cleverly timed pitstop...

Admins, what do you think? Worth a trial?

Quote from HVS5b :its the occassions when you get tagged on the straights that defies belief .

Actually i've been a criminal of taking people out on the straight, and the times it has happened i've wandered across the track, usually because i'm actually LOOKING at the car i'm trying to keep a distance from. But when it does happen, there is such slight contact but the effect on the other car is huge, total spin. Sometimes I think the collision detection and lag combined doesn't make for a great experience and accidents in a straight line are much worse than they should've been.

Quote from Dru :the only problem is forgeting the lack of grip these cars can have and the completely different braking and accelerating properties.

Actually I think that was the biggest issue with people crashing and taking others out. I am mostly a GT2 and Single Seater driver and was shocked at how much I needed to relearn about the LOOONG braking zones in the TBO's and the boat like handling.

IT WAS NEVER LIKE THIS IN THE LRF CLASS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really? I had two great races with you in the mix and I didn't feel it was that bad. Sure 5 cars wide into T1 is always going to be a bad idea, but I didn't think things were that bad. Plus surely the problems were only down to a full grid... did you ever have such big grids in the LRF days?
