Quote from LFS RULES :
6) It is not allowed to (re)sell your LFS license on this forum. In fact, it is not allowed in general to sell your LFS license, as is the case with any license.

So vista123, whether you are a cracker or like you said, your friend who has S2 and gave his account to you for free, you are still violating the rules.

Starforced Game: Is it Safe?

Okay, I went down to my local EB Games store and bought a copy of TOCA Race Driver 3, (as opposed to NFS:MW) and popped it into my optical drive.

I've read over the net about its apparent Starforce v3.7 protection, and I'm still not convinced to install it.

IT's sitting in my optical drive still, and I'm not sure if I should install it or not.

I've had Starforce protected games before: (TrackMania Original, TrackMania United (However it is only on disc check), etc.) and they've been absolutely fine I guess...

So the question is, is it safe to install or not?

Hi,

Interesting first interior...

Although the stock gray plastic dash seems mismatched to the door's white colour.

You said you couldn't get the dash plastics to become white, however, you can easily find XR's plastic texture dds.

The Pioneer subwoofers in the rear seats look alright, however, I think you should have noticed the creases of the XR's rear seats show on the subwoofer panels.

[EDIT: I'm not sure if XR has one like XF does, but it probably does share another car's plastics dds or it most likely has used a random plastic texture in the dds folder.]

There's no apparent signs of damage on the MB.

Although my Dad vacuums the case without the internals inside, and he opened up the PSU to check if its damaged or repairable, (he an electrical engineer), I'm not sure if that has had any negative effects.

He's currently in Hong Kong on a business trip for his company, (something with traffic systems), and he's able to get an new PSU and MB for a lot cheaper than getting the same here in Australia.

Antec TPN550 and Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3LR sound good...

It took me some time wondering what I was doing wrong to replace the textures of the brake light, until I replaced the textures for the reverse light on the FZ.

Miraculously, and in a pique of epiphany, I saw the change.

I had discovered that the reverse light texture is repeated for the brake light and that secondary light that's not used.

When you were modifying the XF_Interior1.dds and XF_Interior2.dds, did you notice the original placement of the lights and interior textures?

Otherwise the situation in which you described occurs.

For these textures, you have to make sure to have correctly orientated textures (as they are just 2D textures wrapped on a 3D wireframe in LFS. Make sure to take note of where the "Zones" are on the dds where they are used in specific places on the XF cars.

XF_Interior2.dds would hold the majority of the Interior you see, whereas XF_Interior1.dds holds some parts of the interior like centre console, and exterior parts like the front grill, headlights (headlight on the leftish side, with turn signal to the left of that) , taillights (consists of brake in the Top right corner, turn signal right below it and reverse).

Time for my contribution, (I am an avid Trackmaniac!),

Trackmania United Forever is the best (it's the latest with everything and its the pay version and my third TM game), but if you don't find it anywhere, you can get the free version (It's not a demo like people think, its just one environment and limited features), Trackmania Nations Forever.

TMF (Collective term for both Trackmania United Forever and Trackamania Nations Forever), is quite cheap compared to any other game (well in Australia I've found, but it should be everywhere else), and its online/offline is so engaging, you'll find that you've missed a couple of days playing/creating/sharing.

With your computer specs, I suggest you try the earlier Trackmania games.

There are some other games made by Nadeo (people who made/developed the TM games), that are of the FPS category (Shootmania) and of the RPG category (Questmania), but they are yet to be released.

Kidding? Who's kidding?

Lynce has simply and flawlessly created one of the finest and best looking interior I've ever seen.

Isn't that good enough reason to be motivated to buy S2 like now?

(well maybe not RIGHT now, at some 11:45pm in Australia)...

EDIT: Alcantara is a type of material with a suede feel. (according to Google)

I'm still working on the 350Z lights, but I made this quick improvement on the stock lights, that anyone could try.

Any positive feedback is appreciated.

Sorry for the low res. I didn't realise the small size....

If you mean the XR_Interior1.dds, as in the lights, you'll require a good graphical editing software, (e.g. Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Paint.NET, GIMP, etc.) and if that software doesn't save into Direct Draw Surface (.dds), then there should be a dds converter at LFS Database anyway.

To get started, you'll need to know exactly what look you want to achieve when each part of the lights illuminate.

There are various zones in which the dds is used for the lights (e.g. There's brake light zone, reverse light zone, and a turn signal light zone).

The XR's rear lights should be the simplest to modify, as there is a large area for the brake light zone and the turn and reverse zones are just to the sides.

Be mindful of where you get your image sources from, as you'll have to edit those properly to make your modifications at least decent.

I'm confused.

Is he a cracker or did he create from the external layout making program?
WSR

I would, but none of my friends or anyone I know have anything above 320W, and my current non-working one requires at least 360W or more.

The PSU in question was a 480W Antec one, and the MB may be a few years old at least.

EDIT: I thought, since my build was pretty outdated anyway, it was time for an upgrade, and also I could replace both of the PSU and MB if either or both were at fault. Plus, Hong Kong prices should be cheap compared to here in Australia.

Oh and that family member left on the flight today...

If anyone could help, that would be great.

However, I'm not quite sure how it stopped working.

One day, in June or May, it just wouldn't turn on. I tried pressing the power and reset button repeatedly, but to no avail, and also turning the PSU switch on and off, and pressing the power button.

After that, I opened up the case, of course taking the main plug out of the PSU from the power socket in the wall, and tried another plug somewhere else in my house.

No luck again. So I tried taking out the power/reset button leads out of the jumpers and using a pen tip to short circuit the jumpers. Again, no signs of life.

So I took the plug out and left the computer unconnected since then.

I haven't tried connecting the main plug again now to see if it powers up.

There's no LED's on the MB, so I don't know what is to fault.

The MB's certainly not shot, as it was absolutely fine from before that day when it started not working.

Sorry if it wasn't clear, but the computer I was upgrading is not working, either because of the PSU or MB, i.e. the computer doesn't turn on.

Thanks for your input.
Is this good for the start of a new build?

One of my family is going for a trip to Hong Kong, and they would be able to get some new parts for my non-working computer, to get it running...

Anyway, I've worked out a build (first stage of three), and it would be good if I could hear some views on what to change/not to change, etc.

CPU: Same, until stage 2 - Intel Pentium D 805
GPU: Same until stage 2 - Nvidia Geforce 7800 GTX 512
RAM: Same until Stage 2 - Geil 2GB DDR2 SDRAM
MB: Gigabyte GA-P35-DQ6
HDD: 1TB 7200rpm (a Seagate or Western Digital one)
PSU: Antec Signature 650W

It's looking to be a sweet build process (from stage one to stage three)

People stay on demo for awhile until they find a safe option to pay the measly $50 (in Australia) over the INTERNET.
