The goods and the bads in both games IMHO:

LFS:
+ Multiplayer, best netcode around for a racesim
+ Force Feedback, I can feel when the car will break out (using Black MOMO)
+ Wide range of cars (GT, Openwheel....)
+ Downloadable skins ingame, every user has his own space etc...
+ Very nice Community
+ Great feedback from the Devs

- No real life tracks, sorry, but this is a big minus for me . The tracks provided are very muck OK, but I really want to drive on real tracks
- LFS is using too much CPU power IMO


Rfactor:
+ Slightly better GFX engine, LFS is using too much CPU power instead of using more GFX card power
+ Wide range of good mods
+ " " good (real life) tracks

- Handling, FFB, I loose the cars too quick, I cannot feel when I will loose the car
- Not enough servers

Plz post a mirror to download.
I've already tried 15 times to download the Highres version, but download stops at 15%, another download on 78% etc....

And I'm not behind a firewall, can download other files from this (and other) forums/sites.

The FIA killed/kills the F1 with all their regulations:

Traction Control => even a 16-year old kid without big skills can drive a F1 car.

You may not 'fight' on track, only 1 time you may change your racingline when someone's trying to pass. When they pass each other AND touch a single bit the other car causing one of the drivers to be out of the race => 'Race control is investigating the incident between car nr X and X'
Come on! These are simple race accidents! Offcourse they're not willing to overtake anymore so you loose your position, points and maybe a penalty (something like 10 places back in next race startgrid).

We want to see skilled drivers, taking some risks while overtaking WITHOUT drivers get badly hurt/killed. That's what real racing fans like!
Remember the big fight on track in the 70's (???) between Villeneuve and Rene Arnoux. Real racing, BIG clean fight taking 3-4 laps, nobody's hurt, adrenaline everywhere! Smile For the ones who don't know what I'm talking about, search the internet for the movie, you'll love it.

With their daily 'teasing' updates, the devs woke up the community of LFS.
Problem is....the community won't go to sleep again until a new update is posted

I'm also hoping/waiting there will be more AI's in a LAN race someday.
Offcourse LFS is meant to play online, but when playing with some friends on a private network, it's nice to have some other 'competition' also

Wheels ARE lovely you know, and not that expensive...

It's in fact my brother who is playing with the joystick, I'm using MOMO Racing wheel on my pc

And yes, it's a 'bit' unplayable:
The slider is now used as a combined axis (slider up=throttle, down=brake), but braking is very difficult to control.
It's a bug, because you can map the slider AND the button at the same time, only the button is not reacting ingame

Devs,

It would be very nice to get this fixed, now this game is unplayable.
So:
Throttle/Brake are assigned as seperate axis
Slider = Throttle => working in control menu and ingame
Button = Brake => Lights up in the controls menu when assigned to brake, but ingame it isn't working.

Joystick - Key mapping

I'm using a MS Sidewinder Joystick to play LFS.
'Seperate axes' are enabled for Throttle/Brake.
Slider is assigned as Throttle, using one axis, and a button is assigned for braking.
Slider is working ingame (=green bar is shown when moving slider up-down), but when pushing the button, the brake bar (=red bar) is not showing and so the car is not braking.
When assigning the brake-button and pushing it in the options-screen it seems ok, but ingame it's not working.

Could it be fixed plz?

Hi,

I already posted this question in 'Technical Assistance', but here it has more chance to be picked up (and maybe added into LFS ):

My brother is using a MS Sidewinder Joystick in LFS but has one serious problem.
He wants to use at the same time:
1. The slider ONLY for throttle (so no combined axis with throttle & brake)
2. A button for braking

Now the slider is acting as a combined axis (throttle & brake) and at the same time no button can be mapped as braking => No late/hard braking possible.
When the buttons are mapped as throttle & brake, the slider is not active anymore => button mapped as throttle => Unable to handle the Formula-cars (and others).

E.g. the Nascar-series from Papyrus provide this use of controls.

Is it possible to add someday in LFS plz?

People may join, but its a LAN game between me and my brother, you see
Like in Nascar 2003, there is no problem adding lots of AI players in a LAN game.

Yep, I've choosen non square modes, but 1600X1200 is still gone
1600x1200 is available on the other pc.

My pc costed +1500euros, all new (including HD, mouse and keyboard).
It's much, too much, but I'm not someone who upgrades some parts every year or so

Last thread I open tonight hehe.

My brother wants to play LFS with a MS Sidewinder joystick.
The mapping of the keys is horrible for him:
He wants to use the "slider" for throttle and a button for braking, but it can't be selected.
The slider is now used as a combined throttle/brake pedal, but it's impossible to brake late. Is there a way to solve this? So, using a button for brake, and the slider as a single non-combined axis for throttle.

I'm playing e.g. SWAT4 in 1600*1200 and no problems.
Dual core is WOW Playing in that 1152*(nr) resolution, all detail on, FSAA & AA on max and getting 150-200fps in some places.

Hi,

When playing on a LAN, there are only 2 AI players per real player you can add.
Is there a workaround to set a higher number like in Singleplayer modus (max 12 AI players)?
