Fresh LFS Z install solved all problems. Still on Vistax64. I'll test it on W7 and Z13 tomorrow.

I tested it a bit more this morning and it looks like the framerate drop problem is still here

Installing fresh driver fixed it, but I got some strange lags instead

Game can now freeze for 5 seconds showing some strange color artifacts and eventually gets back to a normal state. I get it only playing online, offline game works perfectly smooth.

I'll test it tomorrow to see if it's happening on all servers...

About the framerate: I use force V-sync so in most cases fps is far above 60. It drops down to 50 only when theres a lot of cars in sight. I can't tell what's the top fps as counter clamps everything above 60.

It's hard to tell when it's started. 2 months maybe. It was working just fine with all directx mods I'm using, with Vista x64 sp1.

It could be some windows hotfix or a driver update, hard to tell.

Anyway, I'm planing to install w7 this week. I'll make a fresh lfs installation without all mods to see how it behaves.

I have a very similar problem. Game runs smoothly, full AA 50-60, but once in a while it drops to 15 and stays there for a minute or so. Shift-S (spectate) and Shift-P (pit) fix the problem instantly... It's clearly a software problem.

Geforce 8600, Vista X64 SP1, Driver ver 182.50, LFSZ13 (had the same problem with Z10)

I'll try to install the latest nvidia driver now. If it won't help I'll revert to LFS Z and let you know.
3d CAD data

Listen up guys. I have 3 cars to share (Chrysler CGZONE). My friend asked me to convert some educational 3d CAD stuff from Chrysler into FBX files (you can open it up in max).

Sebring, Viper, Wrangler + hdr domes and reference photos. Exteriors + Interiors. Very dense engineering stuff. Good to practice rendering or to use as a reference.

1,33gb of data.

Remember, it's EDUCATIONAL. No public portfolio use, no posting renders on forums etc.

I've uploaded it to a private DROPBOX folder. If you want me to invite you send me a pm with your mail.

I won't keep this stuff for a long time as it takes a good portion of my DROPBOX space so hurry up.

If you want to register to DROPBOX now, use this link please - https://www.getdropbox.com/referrals/NTk0MTgxOQ

The watermarks are there because its a demo version :P You'll have to buy a license to use it without resolution limitation and watermarks.

About the blurry picture: Fryrender always renders Depth of Field. Theres no way to turn it off in this like in a real camera. You have to place the camera target exactly where you want your focus, or turn on auto focus in camera settings.

@elusive

Yoooo man Can't wait for your model

Make sure you have fryplugin in max\plugins directory (you have to copy it manually after installation, the plugins are located somewhere in installation dir), open max, make a plane 100cm x 100cm, make a teapot at the center, F10, scroll down and choose Fryrender as your renderer - this will enable Fryrender settings, mats etc; open mat editor, make a new Fryrender material. Use presets found on the left. Apply it to the plane and/or teapot. Make more mats if you wish. One more thing: You have to make Fryrender camera, you can find it on the right max panel - Create - camera - fryrender target camera , hit Render when your scene is done.

It will open Fryrender window and autostart rendering process with default light ( sun + sky) and rez (640x480).

F10 -> Fryrender settings tab to setup environment and render settings.

If you wish to make artificial light you have to model it and apply emitter material. For example make a plane above the teapot facing down and apply new fry material with emitter preset.

Ok I'll make both 1280x1024 and 1680x1050 versions as soon as I'll find some time

It's nothing hard. Download Fry demo and you'll see that scene setup is easier than vray/mr workflow.

A month ago I asked Mogster if I can use his VWS skin to render one more scirocco image. He sent me his texture (AO less version) but I started other projects and forgot about this scene. Yesterday I finally did it and here's the result.

That last one is great! Well composed. Nice rims, dirt and exhaust!

Well done Mogster. I like the subtle dirt on the tyre

@RTR Travis

I like your style. Next time just make the car a bit smaller and place it nicely in the frame because composition looks a bit strange when it fills it completely.

@Mogster

Man, I love your last FZR render. Those rims fit well . I'm working on my FZR model atm and find some of your ideas very inspiring. Your headlights are cool (modeling mine right now).

And I love the idea of FZR logo painted on the metal grid Would you mind I steal this idea and apply to my model ?

Wow, looks like some nice modeling and shading. Love the F1 wheel. All of them look very accurate.

Actually there is floor on side and top views. It's pure black and the car is placed at the edge. Some of tyres are pimped in photoshop just to give more contrast and bring up highlights

@SCORacer
Good start. Try making environment more dramatic. Shiny surfaces always benefit on it. HDRI maybe?

@migf1
Yep, they look much better with absorbing glass!

Here's the last one from the series. I'm exhausted. It's 4am . Damn 3d.

Quote from migf1 :Those Scirocco renders are just beautiful, especially the top side. Tolas, after seeing your 1st render I couldn't resist and although my knowledge is rather limited I gave it a try on the XFR with two skins I've made for it a while ago.

The lighting of the interior is too intense and the other lights need some more work, but it doesn't look bad so far I think.

Thanks mate. Good work with renders and skins Interior is to bright indeed but you can easily correct this in photoshop.

Quote from Bose321 :Don't use IMG tag. 56k users don't like that, and the forum is stretching

Sorry, that's my bad habit :P I'd say that fry is rather easy. Scene setup is much easier than Vray or Mental. Material Editor is intuitive but you have to make few materials to understand how it works. Lighting workflow is different. There is only geometry light, no directional, spots, IES, etc. Just geometry and light emitting material. Nothing hard to learn though. Basically you do everything to stick with real world objects, materials...

Here you can find some Fryrender tutorials: http://www.randomcontrol.com/i ... amp;id=145&Itemid=137

You can download demo and try making some scene.

Or you can check Indigo render - same technology but opensource. It's a bit slower but free, and works with blender

Thanks to all for previous comments, glad you like these renders

Looks like someone had to spent a lot of time modeling all these details Where did you find these pics?

I use Vray to make archviz because its ideal for many light bounces (interiors) and animations. Lightcache is something special indeed.

Productviz is a different story. Less GI bounces, faster renders. I switched to Fry a year ago because I believe that a true future lies in this technology.
It's physically based all the way, not like Vray which lacks a physical material model. Besides this Fry is unbiased. Imagine rendering same scene using Vray PPT or QMC+QMC it would take days, and would be still biased... Fry, Maxwell, Indigo etc. are simply faster when you need highest quality.

15 hours was long but it was on my old system. Now it would be ready after 6 hours.

Hi guys. Just wanted to drop my latest lfs render
It's a part of series. Front, side and back POVs are on the way. It's based on the model that someone here squized out of CMX, thanks . I had to correct some smoothing groups and add few edges just to tight things up. All materials are reworked in Fry Material editor. It's rendered in Fryrender by the way.
There are custom tires, rims and front lights. Not really visible at this angle
VW badge is modeled too.

If you're interested in it you can check my FZR wip on my blog as well.
It's one of those looong wips Maybe I'll finish it some day lol

Hello all, My name is Pawel and I'm 24. I live in Warsaw, the capital of Poland.

I've been enjoying S2 license for some time, but haven't noticed this thread since now.
I'm not really a car enthusiast to be honest, but I like LFS because it's accurate, fast and optimized. I've never been a gaming fan neither, but this game keeps steeling my time. I feel addicted

Anyway, my main interest is in 3d graphics. Especially SubD modeling and physically based rendering. I mainly do architectural visualizations, but I've been dreaming about some decent racing car render since my first LFS experience. You can check my webblog at: www.tolas.wordpress.com
