Quote from Flingoko :Ok Thanks alot

btw. is there a limit for how many drivers in the race? or are there more servers?

i've never being in a 16 hour race but i've heard that when you sign up its not first come first server you sign up and then you get picked into the race depending on some sutff but i don't know if its true. How many drivers i think its 6 or 4

Quote from logitekg25 :i got an s2 liscense, but now i dont know any tracks to drift, cant drift very well any more (xrt is hard to setup because it oversteers a LOT by itself) and even if i find a good drifting track, i couldnt use it because i wouldnt be able to memorise anything. so what is the best drifting track? and how should i practice every car? (i also like grip racing, but it does not need you to memorise your track first as much)

thank you

if you like to drift more than race the popular tracks are Fern Bay, Kyoto and South City but it may have changed as i'm a racer now and those were what was popular when i was drifting back in the day. and the most popular car is XRT and then FZ5 but FZ5 is more for power sliding and XRT is slow nice drifting i think. But in short Learn every track

Quote from Becky Rose :Multithreading in very simple terms is the ability for a program to use multiple cores of a processor simultaneously - so in your dual core system LFS could make use of both cores at once.

In more complex terms, a thread is an 'object' or 'package' of code that runs as it's own entirely seperate process. The OS then moves these threads around between processor cores to distribute processing load. You can have lots of thread in a single program. So you might for instance have a different thread to handle the physics on each car, one to handle network communication, one to handle insim, and so on...

Each thread could, in theory, run on a totally different processor (if you had enough processors), though in practice with dual and quad core processors what happens is the threads get moved about between the cores and share processor time with all the other background tasks running on your computer.

Multi-threading makes full use of modern processors to get more out of your system. It's quite easy for an experienced programmer to do, but:

* You need to design the structure of your program to work well with threading.
* Debugging after implementing multi-threading becomes a little more difficult
* When doing anything complicated you end up with so many mutexes to stop it from crashing that the threads spend most of their time waiting for mutexes to unlock anyway and you dont actually gain anything - oh the bitter irony... (and as most of you wont understand this last point or the bitter pills of experience it is spoken from, i'll just toddle off now).

Wow Thanks becky I do have a Dual Core 2.4GHz Intel Processer so i would be ok i think

instead of making a new track just flip your car and gas it and then you can get the top speed in less than 5 seconds

Quote from DeKo :very easy to solve that problem, knock up a quick server in LFS for yourself (multiplayer > Start new host) and set the required PB. the time you need to match on the FM server is usually ridiculously easy to get.

ya but doesn't making a server use a lot of internet?

I just went to the server to race becuase I'm newish to the FOX but i wanted to get better and i'de raced on the server before and was getting better but today i go on and it spectates me becuase i have to have a certain PB time on LFS World to race on the server and i thought thats kinda dumb because i can't even race to try and get that time and FM FOX Junkies is the only server that races FOX regularly and if there were another server they probibly would not be on the same tracks o i can try to get the time, and if i tryed switching the track on the other server it probibly would go to a random one by auto select so IMOO the idea having people to have a PB time better than 1:08 i think it was for the track they were on when i connected is a stupid idea as only pro's are going to race then and people that race clean but arn't that fast can't race. Like me i'm clean but i am not the fastest.
