Okay well I'm still thinking about my purchase. I like to research a lot to get best performance/money .

Does anyone know about these SSD hdds? I mean, i could buy a 32gb one for roughly the same as a 1tb hdd but it seems that recording too this 32gb ssd hdd may be much increased performance over recording too the 1tb hdd. Once footage is recorded, i could obviously budge it over to my other hard drive to store it.

Does anyone know more infomation, i mean i've been looking around and have seen mixed ideas on this idea. Some say it's not worth it, but i'm an FPS freak and would love footage to be as smooth as it gets.

Thanks again

Quote from morpha :It's clearly written on the label at the back, unfortunately the photo is less clear so you'll have to do the actual reading yourself

I believe it's a radeon X1650 Pro though.

That code on the back doesnt come up with anything when i search it, so i found it not useful. Pretty sure its just the product ID for the bar code? Ah idk. TRying the X1650 drivers now. Will report back.

EDIT: Dude i love you, it works!! Thanks a lot.

Okay, i've taken pictures. As i said in device manager all it says about the card is "Video controller" and "Video controller (VGA compatible"...

Quote from shiny_red_cobra :Can you take a picture of the card and post it here? There's not much to go by.

I'll do that tomorrow... Bro's gone to bed. Ha ha. - Left windows auto update on over night for him though. As it's a fresh install of windows XP (was working on vista, but as you can imagine, performance was diabolical). Maybe that'll work. Who knows.

Thanks lads

Problem with ancient PC

Okay so i've been helping my brother with his ANCIENT pc (1.8ghz athlon, with an AGP card...) The problem is that, I can't find out the make/model/ of this very AGP card. It's not in the bios, On pc wizard, In devices (comes up with Video controller (VGA compatible) and on the card all it says is "ASUS".. So i'm clueless, as obviously the card needs a driver.. lol.

Any help? it's pissing me off to be frank, been sitting on it installing, and reinstalling for hours due to a reformat error, and i've had enough.
All's well apart from the driver.

Thanks in advanced

Taking it all in guys.

Does anyone know what sort of improvement i will get in frames? I mean, it's not that poor at the moment, but will i be able to record at 60fps? I should really think/hope so, because it isn't CPU or GPU bottlenecking.

Have you checked your temps? CCC + CPUZ Or the likes? Overheating can cause those problems.

Quote from Derbis1990 :You need internal and sata hdd. You can now start saving money. Good hdd will cost you ~60 Pounds. I can`t say that hdd you will buy will be greatest in whole wide world , but you`re searching for BUDGET HDD. You can buy 300-350gb hdd , but earlier or later you will feel lack of space in your pc. My opinion for you is : Samsung HD103SJ. 1TB , 32MB cache (it is important in theese days) , SATA (most fastest for the moment). Just don`t rush and you will buy good hdd. This samsung is way to good for films. Other`s will say : blablabla it`s to much gb`s for you. I can say that blue ray is released and high quality films taking much space in hdd. It`s better to buy not the cheapiest , but more expensive thing , thinking that it will serve you much longer than you expected

Thanks a lot for the input mate, I'll be taking that into consideration

Western Digital Caviar Blue - 640GB - £44.38
Western Digital Caviar Green - 1TB - £64.70

Thanks for the links Amp. Very reasonable prices there and I'm book marking that website.

Thanks again to the both of you

Quote from amp88 :Internal or external (i.e. do you want one inside the case or outside it in an enclosure)? If internal what interface (IDE/SATA)? What type of video recording do you want to do?

Internal/External - Whatever's fastest (guessing internal)
Again IDE/SATA - Whichever's fastest.

And Fraps recording. Got an AMD X4 655 & HD5850 - Tried recording and was getting HDD Bottlenecking (guessing it's the writing speed of the drive? not really sure tbh.)

Thanks
Budget HDD?

I've heard from some source (can't remember) that AM2+ socket motherboards support AM2 processors AND some more advanced AM2+ socket processors.

Does anyone have a list of AM2+ processors?

I'm mainly interested in the budget priced Quad-cores.

Thanks in advanced,
Sam

Maybe you had that card switched on, which might be interferring with your other card? Does that mobo have some sort of hybrid sli? If so windows 7 might be trying to use that seeing as hybrid sli has no compatibility with windows XP you wouldn't have had the problem before.

Quote from BlueFlame :Yes, an Open Relationship is basically where you cheat on your partner and they know about it, and don't care and may or may not do it themselves.

Yeah if i'm honest this wouldn't interest me, and is kind of sick if you ask me

Myself agreed. - But there are people out there who think the idea of an open etc is fine on both parties am i right?

Anyway i don't know much in the area of relationships lol, 15 ftw couple of relationships and life lessons have been learnt though.

Dawes just seems like an arsehole to me tbh

Anyone who thinks cheating is fine in a closed relationship, is just wrong IMHO.
