matze54564, atm KY3 (Kyoto GP Long) is quite like what you are asking for.

If you are looking for something with even faster turns then we're talking about an oval track aren't we?

If the power delivered from the PSU to your PC did no suffice you'd get blue screen of death screens and/or hardware resets at random intervals.

This is not the case for you so you are ok.

Generally speaking the more Watts the better, because a PSU is like a machine. It's better to work at the 80% of it's capabilities instead of the 95-100%. It's less prone to error and probably will last longer.

The specs from Saphire for the PSU are a little high because they want to cover all the possibilities, like heavy loaded PCs with multiple hard disks and peripherals, to cover the possibility of an overclocked PC and of course they leave a safety margin also, hence the 450W recommendation.

As you said it's an unnecessary expense atm, but if you are planing to add some more hardware at the future or you notice any strange behavior like resets or funny noises etc you'd better change it asap, because a PSU in most cases never dies alone!!! lol (it takes some other parts with it ).

Hope that was helpful, have fun and enjoy your card

It has been suggested before and the truth is that it's not realistic.

Although you can tweak some settings real-time with the F11 key and give (a lot) pit instructions for tyres, pressures, camber, fuel and wings by pressing F12.
Use the arrow keys to do that, or shift+ arrow keys.

But to change your whole setup in a pit stop is too much imo, so it's good as it is imho.

PLAYLIFE, the new preload setting doesn't work as a boost.

It is just an additional setting which could help driving in some cases but imo it's not such a drastic change to require a total hotlap reset.

And about the quoting you made there you forgot also to quote and the final conclusion of that conversation
Quote from bhs :Yeah I just tried it again and I'm back to normal.

But there are already lots of threads about the preload feature outside of this bug reporting thread.

Worm, some more info on the topic...

The forced handicaps from the master server only apply if you go online. They have no effect in the Single player mode unless you volunterely put some handicaps on your own.

Besides that, no car is faster than before. The FXO & XRT are slower from the TBOs with the RB4 untouched and the FZR & XRR are slower from the GTRs with the FXR untouched also.

In short, the classes were balanced by slowering the faster cars not making faster the slow ones. And this only in multiplayer atm, so no need to block hotlaping with the W10 patch.

I think that the current behaviour is the correct one also

SKaREO, Sorry to be harsh mate, but it's obvious that LFS isn't for your teeth really

Go play some NFS mumbo jumbo thingy instead, because if you have this opinion about racing
Quote :Right now its awfully boring running in circles in slow cars that don't even exist in real life.

I really rest my case.

What did you expect from a racing sim? The fun is in the racing not in the name of the car.

Scawen, Yes I knew I had forgot something, I meant in the autocross.

Ready: 3
Ready: 2
Ready: 1

I just named the above sequence "text timer" and thought that anyone would understand it. doh

About you other question, the "text counter" appears only at the start of an autocross race, together with the red lights, and the only problem is the one mentioned, that you can predict when the green lights will light just by looking at the "text counter". The green lights turn on just 1 sec after the last text line ("Ready 1") dissapears.

There is no "text poping" issue during the race no matter if I'm in autocross, single player or multiplayer.

PS
And of course one more issue related with the text counter (mentioned in some earlier posts) is that it is displayed at the qualify starting, but there it is useless because you can start the qualify without getting a penalty.
So what's the point of the text counter when you are already rolling...

Quote from fuzzymonkey :Ok ive finally had enough of people wrecking my car and spending ages looking for people that ARENT drifting the XRT, i havent gotten bored of blackwood yet tho. Now since im cheap i'll get an s1 licence (mrt thingy looks fun) but ive seen on lfs world there are hardly any s1 servers. Is it possible that s1 players can play on s2 servers if the s2 server has the cars and tracks that are in the s1 version?

Also how important is a wheel? I can manage high 1.24's with the XRT but it involves alot of really rapid clicking to get a (sort of) gradual throttle/brake application. Are the other cars as slidy?

The STCC servers are actually the only ones with S1 content. All the others (with people inside off course, not empty) are S2. Don't make the mistake to buy the S1. Go for S2 at once, you won't regret it for sure.

As for the wheel, if you can do 1.24 with the XRT with the mouse/kb you can easily drive the other cars too. A wheel is a must for immersion but if you are already accustomed to another controller and already fast with it you won't have any problems controlling the other cars and be fast with them.

Go for S2

Actually there are tons of replay related suggestions.

We are expecting a new replay system in the (near?) future that will sort out most of these things

I did some thorough testing tonight about the false start system in single player.

I came up to the conclusion that although the time between the last red lights and the green lights varies, if you are looking at the text countdown timer you can almost 10 out of 10 times predict when the green lights will light.

When I was not looking at the text counter I couldn predict the green lights though.

So, is it just my impression, or the text counter isn't randomized also and just spoils this new feature?
KMSpeed
S2 licensed
Do you mean push the car in front you?

Anyway, that's the way it should be imo.

A false start is calculated based on the movement of the car before the green light and not if this movement was voluntery or not.
KMSpeed

No, not really. It's just that sometimes a patch requires an unlock on some PCs and on others it doesn't.

It's quite rare & random afaik so np

Quote from Blackout :Yay!

Shouldn't the countdown from the qualification be removed and make the clock start rolling soon as it, well, starts though? It's a bit weird that you can drive before it has started, so the countdown has no meaning actually.

I just wanted to point this also.
(Just in case you missed this the first time )

Nice work, I love the new mini map colors
KMSpeed

Actually I don't

Really, how is this complicated? My explanation was a little complicated with all these colors and these AND OR operators, but it real action in the game it is just 2 clicks. I just wanted to do a thorough explanation of the situation, thus the big post.

LFS's browser lacks some real nice features other multiplayer games browsers have like favorite servers list, buddies list, ping thresshold, and tracks filtering and maybe we'll see some of them in the future, they have already been suggested in other threads.

My suggestion was made with the concept that it can be easily implemented in the current GUI of the browser without much work on Scawen's part (as far as I can understand) while we are waiting for a bigger update of the browser's interface.

Have you tried to do it in the game? I really don't think that is is hard and it isn't mandatory to use it either. You can leave it in All Cars as it is by default.

Hey mate you have LFS for over a year now, don't you already know that there's no such thing?

For what combo do you need a set for? You can have a basic good handling set per car for all tracks and then you just tweak a little the camber, the tyre pressures, the gears and some steering settings and you have a new, fast, but already familiar set to use.

And FYI if the WR is at 100% you can get to 96% with just practice. Then you can gain tops another 1% by the setup and the 3% left is skills and experience.

In my opinion the first thing you should look in a set is if it suits you and if it handles good.
Then you can certainly can go fast with it.

Not so easy

If you do that you'll exlude all the FZR and FXR servers which have some other cars available also.

You must increase the "Steer rate" & "Return Rate" in the Control options to have more responsive handling.

See this thread http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=18307 for some info and of course the LFS manual http://en.lfsmanual.net/wiki/Options#Mouse.2FKeyboard

And there's a recent thread from a keyboard drifter also to see his settings http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=22908

Hope these will help you

As we all know in the multiplayer game selection screen we can click on the
3 letter car abbreviation at the top row to filter the desired cars, so we have:

BLACK = NULL
BLUE = This car included
RED = This car excluded

So far so good

But what if I want two cars (or more) included? This can't be done at the moment.

If I click on the FZR and I make it BLUE meaning "Include the FZR" and then I click on the FXR and make it also BLUE the result is:
"Show me the servers which have the FZR AND the FXR available" instead of
"Show me the servers which have the FZR OR the FXR available"

So, the result is instead of having a bigger list to to choose between these two cars to have a smaller!! (because all the servers that dont have both of these cars available are filtered)

So I propose either to change the behaviour of the blue color to OR, or even better introduce a new color, let's say green to perform this task.

The setting you are after is on the Misc tab and it's called "Dynamic LOD reduction". Set the slider to the left for more detail and to right for performance. Mine is set to 0.35.

Also in the Graphics Tab set the "Mirror LOD" to 0.20 and the shadow type to Low res to gain some performance, with no quality loss.

Generally you can adjust the settings in single player mode while the game is paused and see the effect in real-time!!!

While you are doing that make sure you have the Misc>Show Time Instead Of FPS to "NO" and the Display>Frame Rate Display(fps) setting to "right" to notice the performance gains immediatelly. (If the FPS/Time counter is on the left it gets hidden when you hit ESC).
