Redline Racing server 9 is currently set on BL2 rally demo. Has been fairly busy the past few days.

You could also try our Redline Racing Demo servers.

Although many of the drivers there are very fast (in Low 1:33.xx times) we are quite happy to see new drivers and help them when possible.

As long as you read the server rules and keep out of the way of the faster drivers when necessary you should have a good time there.

I am on most evenings (RedlineQuinn) at around 18:30 - 22:00 UK time.

I'm using 12.4 on a desktop PC with Radeon 6970. Not seen any problems with that combination.

Another good reason Redline don't allow post race crashing is that it gives the impression to anyone joining after the race and before next race starts, that this is just another server full of immature kids crashing.

Or try Redline Racing demo servers, we don't allow crashing, wrong way driving etc.... before, during, or after the race.

Alt Tab

I wish I knew the answer.
I have had the same problem since I built my new PC last year.
I used to be able to alt Tab out of game, look at a web page etc... and then jump back into LFS. Now it takes forever to get back to LFS, sometimes up to 30 seconds and very often it will drop the connection so I will be timed out on the LFS server.

This is really annoying as I used to alt tab out and start a 2nd copy of LFS to check replays of incidents while adminning the Redline Racing servers.
Now it's 50/50 I get timed out when I try to switch back to the Original instance of LFS.

I have a Core i7, 8 GB Ram, Radeon 6970, Windows 7 64 Bit.

My previous PC which worked fine was Core i5 2500K, 4GB Ram, Nvidia 8800GTS, Windows 7 64 Bit.

I've been down the avenue of trying latest drivers for everything, older drivers, Bios updates, reinstallation of LFS, reinstall of Windows 7 etc... but I can't find a cure for it.

One other thing I have noticed is that on my older PC, LFS used to start up almost instantly. My newer (supposedly faster) PC takes at least 10 secs to display the initial LFS screen, although occasionally it seems to start much quicker.
Replay

Had a look at your replay, generally looks pretty good.

You need to adjust your lines in a few places and try to use the full width of the track. e.g. at end of long straight you could use more of the left curb before turn-in, to straigthen out the bend a little more. And in a few other bends too.
You lost a lot of time in the last bend on lap 3 of the replay, took the wrong line and scrubbed off a lot of speed.

Some of your gear changes also look a bit sluggish, I'm guessing you are using the H shifter and manual clutch? Maybe try using the paddles and manual clutch, I find the G25/27 H shifter to be too imprecise.

But see if you can get along to Redline Server 1 when I'm online. If it's busy and you want some help without getting in the way of the racers we have 8 other servers to try.

As he said, post a replay would be a good first step.

You can also try visiting Redline Racing server 1, where you will often find people willing to help you out. I'm there most days at around 17:00 BST (British Summertime = GMT + 1).
I can see you are from Australia so there may be some problems with Lag, but we have had some Aussie drivers that seem to be ok.

I'm an admin there, Racing name Redline Quinn. I can usually get people into 1:34.xx times fairly quickly.

Also if you want to practice yourself, try presing the 4 Key for the racing line. It's not perfect but it will certainly get you close.

Just ignore the suggested Red section start point as a place to brake, you can brake a bit later than that.
Stay off the gas when the line is Orange, start getting back on gas as it fades from Yellow to light green.
I would also suggest not having the line in the centre of your car in corners. For right hand corners have right wheels roughly on the line, left hand corners left wheels on the line.
Stuttering

I had a similar problem that was caused by the onboard Network card of my MSI motherboard. It seems the Windows 7 drivers for that card were not so good. It did work ok on Windows XP
I bought a D-Link 10/100 network card and switched off the onboard card and used the D-Link instead and I've not had any problems since.

Also if you have an MSI motherboard make sure you uninstall the smart doctor utility that may have been installed from the drivers disk. That caused me another stuttering problem that occured when you touched a barrier or another car, the game would freeze for 1 - 2 secs after the impact.

Are you sure it isn't an MSI board. You said all you know is it's an E3200, thats an Intel CPU, not the make of the board. Makes it sound like you are just guessing it isn't an MSI board.

You can use this free system info tool to find out what make your board is

http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/pc-wizard.html

I don't think it's an Issue with Windows 7, I had my problem originally on Windows XP. I also decided to reinstall the OS to solve the problem and also decided to change to Windows 7 at the same time. It was the same on Windows 7 too.

Once I found out my problem was caused by the smart doctor tool, I've had no problems with LFS on Windows 7 64Bit.

Do you have a PC with an MSI motherboard?

If so, it may be the Smart Doctor utility provided with that board. If you have that installed, uninstall it, reboot and try LFS again.

I have no idea why that should cause a problem but it fixed a similar sounding problem on my machine.

All Redline servers appear to be down again.

Always seems to be on Fridays ??

I reckon they have a cleaner in on Fridays and she (or he) unplugs the servers to plug the Vacuum cleaner in.

Have you tried the Redline Racing Demo servers?

We usually have an admin online for a large part of the day.

We keep the servers as clean as possible for those that are interested in racing and we don't have voting switched on so you can't get voted out by the "nobrain kids".

Just be sure to read the server rules when you join.

You appear to be from USA our servers are usually busy from about 18:00 to 23:00 GMT.
Blue flags

I'm not sure what sort of racing you watch but if a driver Ignores blue flags in real racing they will be penalised.

And I never said you had to roll over and die the instant you see one, just that you need to obey them, otherwise you will get a warning and then be removed if you continue to ignore them.
blue flags

I'm not sure what you don't understand about my statement.

I was just saying that it is one of the rules on the Redline servers, if you see a blue flag then you must obey it.

It should be adhered too on any race server, but I was just pointng it out as many newcomers either don't know about them or ignore them.

If you do that on a Redline server you will be warned and then removed from the track if you don't comply.

Why not try Redline Racing servers. Servers 1 & 2 are XFG/XRG Demo.
Server 3 is FBM.

There are usually Redline members around who will often give you some help if you ask. I'm there quite often, Redline Quinn is my racing name.

Just be aware we have fairly strict rules about conduct, no crashing, wrong way driving, obey blue flags, no swearing etc..

As long as you use some common sense and keep out of the way of the faster drivers you should have a good time there.

Also be aware that on server 1 we have a few restrictions, You need to have 100 experience points in Airio stats to use XRG and you need to be within 103% of WR time to use keyboard as a controller.
Vob mod
JackSun

Yes it says OOS - CAR.

That's the message you get if you are using VOB mods to change the car model from the defaults.

You are not allowed to use them on most servers as they cause problems with Collision detection.

If you want to be able to join any server you will have to remove the mods.

Well let me know when your ban is lifted and then post here and arrange a time/date that I can be on a Redline Racing server with you.

I will see if I can see any problems.
Bans

I would have thought using an Internet connection that is via a mobile phone tethered to you PC as a makeshift broadband substitute would give you large Latency variations and packet loss.

That may make you warp all over the track and cause the server to think you are causing crashes or driving the wrong way etc... depending on the server setup you will probably get auto banned or admins will remove you for causing problem which you don't see.

I have seen it often on the Redline servers that I am an admin on.
You see some drivers who are apparently driving under the track and with big warning saying wrong way.
Eventaully they either get removed for lag, or I remove them before they cause crashes. But I would at least tell them I was removing them for lag issues rather than just kick/ban.

The person with the lag problem is often unaware of what is happening as they are recieving the positional information of the other drivers from the server well enough for their client to make everything seem normal.

We now have server 1 to 4 down, 5 to 8 up and no Airio.

Oh well, 1 step forwards, 2 steps back.
