Hi all

I know its a silly question but a have the doubt anyway

Can i just update a dedi server by unpacking the new patch i want in the LFS dedi server folder? Like overwriting it?

Let me thank you again for the rebirth of the LFS Stats

I've been using it a lot and without problems, except for one small thing.
I'm using LFSStats 0.61 and in the prompt if you use the control+c command to unplug Stats and hit N and enter, it will close
Besides that, i don't have the knowledge to push more from it

I would've tested this translation to really see if it looks good, if i only knew how.
Being naife concerning this, i tried to change this parament as shown.
Lang = portuguese
But it didn't work and i can't even imagine why, but must be simple and logic, explain me how to check it or just include this and i'll test it ok?

Hi

The Portuguese LFS Community would like to invite the the Global LFS community for a fun event that we have been preparing.
Nothing to complicate, just pure racing, here's the details.

Two 90 minutes races, 30 minutes qualifying sessions.

Rules
Race with fair-play, be a genttleman, do not crash or cause acidents, stay in track.

Scoring system - 2 Tables - Individual & Teams

Individual points from 32 to 1 to be assigned by finnishing order.
Ex:1st=32pts / 32th=1pt
Teams also score, by the sum of the team 2 best results per race.
Ex:1st team finisher 1st position, second team finisher 6th, team scores 32+27=59pts

Teams can apply more then one team line-up.
Ex:myteam#1 & myteam#2, or something else...

Schedule
Racing days > June 17th & July 1st
Day / Hour > Sundays / 21:30 - 24:00 UTC/GMT
Race 1 - Blackwood / FOX - June 17th
Race 2 - South City Town / GT2 (UFR+XFR) - July 1st

1st of all since it my first post here, i would like to congratulate Hyperactive for the great post.

So here it goes, my sugestions, regarding only qualify:
- I noticed that some of the old 2d text is still displayed. I think it would look better if it were something like this:
When qualify session starts the message when you exit from garage to pits could be something like this > Qualify Session Started (1º) > Track Open (2º message).
- Also in qualify something odd happens. Imagine this, a track with fox and fo8. If you lap with the fo8 then afterwards with the fox, your qualifying time registered will be maintain with the one done with fo8.
My suggestion it to whenever a driver changes car, immediatly after he crosses the line after a launched lap, would be lap 2 considering out-lap, the previous time would disappear, no matter if its faster or slower, the time with the current car should be the one counting, imo. Early i think it would register both times, but that no good either i think.

I hope that this suggestions weren't already done, if they were so, my apologies, but i red the log and skip to last page directly.

I must agree with MoonForce and others like me that think that this new kick/ban voting system isn't the best for us.
Opinions may differ but the reality is that this voting system brought us a problem, an abuse problem.

I even saw something that i consider really chocking, it was 2 great LFS drivers had an incident on t1 on test server, one vote to ban the other and the vote went thru, was a sad sight i can ensure you.

either way i hope someone comes up with an admin tool that allows us to view and edit the bans online or it could be a nightmare on a busy server like ours

This could definitly be the solution, host decides the minimum of votes needed in their servers, diferent settings for kick and ban of course.

If not, could at least the Devs consider raising the current amount of votes needed. Again diferent values for kick and ban, as ban should require a deeper though and a bigger agreement among those on the server.

As i promised here is my feedback, more doubts then feedback sry

I was able to do some stats already. All seems normal comparing with old version, and everything ran smoothly, done stats @ x8 i believe.
It created 4 files, 2 html, one like old stats and a new one "lap by lap" graph.
Created also a TSV and a CSV. I f i recall correctly, the TSV file is the one used to created the graphs right?

I downloaded the graph generator from Smith's thread, and extract it in the bin/graph, copied the .TSV inside it and ran the app, is this the correct procedure?
It promped a dos window that closed after a while, but no file were created as far as i can understand.
Any suggestions?

Edit: desregard my problem, i solve it, i'm just the biggest newbie in tried to make this things work, imagine that i copied stats from Smith's thread and not the graph lol, all cool now.

I found that folder string exactly as Gai-Luron describes in the bin folder as you said Flinty. I'm yet to try it, but at this moment i doubt something will fail, i'll post my progress shortly.

Now, i believe that in my 1st post regarding this dificulty i had the correct folder list after extracting version 0.6 right?
The thing is that we, less skilled users, need only to use the contents in bin folder. Am i understanding this correctly?
I should expect that the app behaviour in that folder is similar to old stats?

I made a new folder for stats, program fil.../LFS_APPS/LFSStats (One level too many?)
My LFS installs are at program fil.../


But, as you said, i might have an extract problem, since after extract LFSStats 0.6, the folders aren't as you specifie.
I got something like:
bin
cfg
debian
doc
etc
sepc
src
All folders

What should i do?

Hi

I try the new LFSstats and i always got the same error, maybe you guys can help me out.
I attached a picture of the LFSstats window atm of the error.

1º tried in w17, dont know if it really works there because of some insim change that might not allow it to work on w17.

Then e tried on w41, first a demo replay, a small one to be easier, but got that same message also

And last i tried with a replay from the bugtest server, and result was the same, that error ocurrs.

Typed insim 29999 in-game, and ran the it by opening the config file with LFSstats.exe, so i guess all steps were met.

First topic says that max conns is 48, i guess this number is the same as maxguests. The thing is that when i write /maxguests 48 on config.txt, its shows the following error> out of bonds :maxguests

Or does the host itself counts?

I'm now sure that what i said before is a fact.
- changing tracks inside the garage causes the client to crash, admins doing it. afterwards the server starts displaying that "a race is starting" message.
One time only i restarted lfs i could join the server, those other times i had to close and open the server on rootserver.
-i used the new command /reinit and strangly the same message appeared after the server reloaded, i tracked it to another monitor on vnc client and i'm sure to have waited for it to load, done that some times and its duplicates the situation.
-and i dont really understand how i got that message the first time i reported this.

Edit: now i just changed the cars and track on entry screen, waited for it to change, left the server, refreshed the list and the evil message returned

Had a recorrent error when trying to join to an empty server, it kept saying this: "A race is starting"
The server was simracingportugal w9, after i reiniciated the server directly from the root server it go back to normal.
Wasn't able to reproduce this...

Anyway i was already on a few crowded server and seems smooth and i think i have better fps too.
Its great to race against a bigger grid

edit: Afterall i did reproduced the error, same as i described above is happening again. This started again after another error. I gave some commands to the server, i did it while on garage where we pick the cars, and send, /cars xxx and nothing happened, after i send /track xxx and the screen blip and lfs crashed. afterwards it started showing the message "a race is starting" again. Went back to normal after i reinicated lfs this time.

Mate understand something, i play LFS for almost 3 years now, i love the sim and the dev team and know all the bla bla you talked about. I also consider that the new engine sound its a real upgrade to previous system.
But you speech its on the defense, and i'm not attacking, so you can drop your guards, just listen well to the cars i have refered and them tell your opinion again.

Problably since the devs option went to use sounds moded by the community, they could/should gather some more packs and find the best sound for each car on their opinion and make a small upgrade.

First of all thanks for the new patch i think that it really means progress. Although i feel i must say something about those sounds, engine sounds.
I must say that some of them sounds really nice, some others all really crap, its only the truth. For instance the F1 car, that can only be a bad taste joke, the car simply sounds crippy, starts to sturtter at high speed, i would like to see that explained. All turbo's, dont have turbo?!?! In FXO/RB4/XRT you can't hear the turbo's, thats non sense to say the least.
The FZ5 sounds worst then my 1300w vacuum cleaner, seriously. The FOX well, needle is showing redline but it sounds like we're still half way through the revs, no pitch, no high pitch on formulas in a general way.
Strangely its not all bad, some cars sounds great, not much of them but some. I don't understand how can ppl praise so much for this sounds when the package has serious flaws. Also strange is how can some sounds fit so good and others so bad, almost horrible. Its also like some of the cars have been neglected.
I respect both devs and Dave's work around this subject, the sounds issue is for a long time now being a major reason of discontentment within the community, but come on!!! Did you guys heared all the sounds some times before releasing them??
I understand that i might not colect many supporters on this, some might think that i'm a flammer or something, but thats not my intentions. I just want a better and better LFS for all of us, my statement was more then overthough and hopefully will be considered.
