I was wondering about that myself - since after the second crash my car wasn't in the best shape either. But apparently the pits only open the moment the safety car goes off track so I decided to stay on track because the handling seemed to be good enough to get to the finish.
The funny thing is: If I would've watched the left mirror instead of the right one I would've seen that I had more space there. Instead I just assumed Joe would pull a little closer to the curb on the right. And since I didn't know that Laprevotte was there this whole metal salad came to pass :/
(Although I have to admit that I only had like ~0.5 seconds to react - and I'm getting old haha).
Edit: Looking through the replay in R2 I realized the same thing like in R1 happened - only with less consequences Due to the lower speed and less cars the only effect was that we drifted a bit.
And as a bonus I added some shots of all the people who really liked my back (If I got 10£ for everyone hitting my back I would've paid for my S2 license easily today ).
I guess SC1 was my fault. I thought I was past Keaveney and also that he had the possibility to go a bit more to the right. I didn't see that Laprevotte was on his right so I clipped him with my back right tyre. Sorry about that :/
Though getting hit in Hairpin 1 in both Races isn't really that pleasant either. Nevertheless: Was an awesome race especially the fight with Oliver in Race 2.
Edit: Big big big Kudos to Darryn for letting me pass in Race 1!
Managed to get a 1:49.5 with a race setup. I guess with some more balls at that last chicane it might be 1:49 or even a high 1:48 - but I'd rather finish the two races without a spin than to risk too much there. I haven't been able to race 7 laps without a spin yet.
Will there be a FP on Saturday/Sunday like for Round 3? Or is the server always open? Seems like I can practice this weekend & thursday, friday. So hopefully times will get down a little - though I doubt I'll be able to fiddle around with the setup.
P.S.: I've watched the WR - but when I try to brake the same moment he does I'm missing the bend entirely - haha.
The best I've managed so far is 1:52 - with no time to practice I guess I'll end up somewhere at the rear haha.
It's also the first time I race in a single seater so I can already see me spinning all over the track.
Nice report - though I have to admit that Darryn had the best driving style / setup of us all. The one hour endurance race will be incredibly interesting - I can't wait
Great Race Darryn! I hope you'll get a ton of ballast the next race I was rather surprised to see you suddenly in front of me in lap 11. Too bad I lost most of my grip while fighting Keaveney and Klenke. Else that last lap might've gotten funny.
On a different note: It would be nice if more people would show up for the FP1 & 2 sessions. Nothing like scaring your opponents to death with fast lap times - eh Dizzydarryn?
The XRT seems to be more forgiving regarding the tyres than the FXO. At least that's what I've seen today at FP1.
I don't have any time to practice on the XRT though so FXO it is (not to mention I'd have to doodle a skin for the XRT as well).
I'm not sure if I'll make it to this one. If I do I won't be able to practice as much as for round 2 - so I expect to finish somewhere between last and second to last :b
Not only did the first three have the almost exact same fast lap but we also had exactly the same second split time.
Awesome racing guys
It was very tight in the qualification. Hopefully you'll have more luck with your connection next time. With four cars up front it would've been quite some battle.
I'm reporting the incident between car 333 and 177 that happened during qualifying starting with 10:20 left in qualifying. Car 333 was slower than me but was changing the racing line twice to not let me pass. Then before the first bend he decided to kick me off the track with him following into the grass as well due to the collision. Afterwards he hit me onto the track again without caring that there was a car incoming and also spinning me during this process.
