Tristan, those ECCI Pedals (just to make you feel worse) , couple of questions:
1) Can you buy in the uk?
2) Is the PMBII worth it?
3) <gone beyond a couple> Do you know if the momo addon comes with new pots?
4) Do you know if the momo addon can have a clutch pedal?
if you pit during the 'Ready: 3 2 1' and then exit pit you are sat on the start/finish line and can go straight away even with the 'ready: 3 2 1' still displayed
Ive not tested the bug in single play and have only experienced it at ky nat (again not tested elsewhere)
Here is my list of things that i think would improve LFS
I will add to this list over time
1) Skin Password - it would be nice if a password could be encripted and embeded into the skin so that only that skin can be put on your own car if you know the password.
2) Global BAN server, allow servers to optionally subscribe to this server for bans, with options to not allowed banned users under the following options: 1) banned at any time 2) banned within x months 3) banned x times 4) banned x times in x months, when a user gets banned on one of the subscribing servers it get logged to the BAN Server.
3) Register Nick, dont allow users to use others nick. When a user changes his Nick have it check if it allready exists first before allowing, unregister nicks when users haver been idle for a period of time (maybe 6 months?) obviously this is going to need to be stored somewhere, maybe put it as part of LFS World and have a limit on the number of nicks you can have against your username.
Im not sure about anyone else but i would like to see where we have a 'sprint race' of say 10-15 laps and an 'main event' of say - 35+ laps (adjust for lenth of track) i hate the compulsary pits too, just make it so that not pitting would be difficult.
Best times for me are after 8pm weekdays or after 9 pm sundays
I'd say i was a medium-fast driver, but i always make my own setups.
i agree with Gizz 100%
Personally, if its a new car/track combo im playing with then i'll drive Race_1 setup untill ive got the track and basic lines 'burned' into my brain, then i'll adjust gears and brakes, only then do i start looking for what the track/car needs (slowspeed exit traction or high speed corner stability etc)
then if i change track layout (ie still aston) i will use another of my setups for that track as the 'base' of the next setup.
for example ive been developing my fxr Aston Historic setup and getting 2.27 laps in race, im now playing with aston club - i used my ast hist setup for the first 15 or so laps until 'burned in' and was getting 1.04's with the unmodified setup, it was clear that i couldnt take the fast chicane quickly with this base setup, but i went down my usual setup tasks, adjusted the bracks and gears for the track, down to 1.03's straight away, ran a few races then added more downforce sorted the diff and now doing <1.02.5 much more to come (still slow in chic) but no need to rush with rash changes.
I hope this thread helps with anyone who is frustated with how people can be 'so much faster'
Just to add confusion, i will 'occationally' run someone else's setup if i cant find the way forward on my own and then use that as the base setup to work from.
On the setup 'correction' that keeps on cropping up, this is only valid if the setup you end up with is within real world parameters, ie would not wear tyres incorectly (toe / camber/tyre presure), was idiot proof (lift off oversteer, default understeer) and had a good 'ride' (grandma's teeth say put)
To me it shows the cars are too oversteary (sp?) in the 'lane change' the real drivers is still putting posotive steering in at the end of that manauvor (Sp?) but the comp driver is putting in oposite lock, the external view shows the same sort of thing, you can see the rear sliding in the comp car not the real car.
This vid also shows that things are not a mile away.
Ive been wondering about one aspect of lift off oversteer and this sim, on a 'normal' roadcar, when you 'lift off' the throttle it is actually 'damped' and comes of much slower, i think this is to stop such lift off occurences and aid gear changing, infact if i change gear very close to my ref limiter on my own car during the gear change it will sometimes hit the rev limiter as the throttle is left open enough to 'rev up')
Im wondering if a 'Damp' factor on throttle shuting would be a good idea to add to the setup of the cars.
It probably wouldnt aid me as i match the revs and trail brake anyway but could be an aid to new comers and right foot brakers, what do ya think?
