look at the end of the day the lass has the right to race on the track without you lads getting your gearknobs twitching... christ you lot are buggered if you ever meet real females...
*goes back to faceparty for weirdo's to make himself feel better*
Because of the situation this afternoon - veryend has been removed as an admin, I would also like to point out that it was myself, weegie and another who started the server, veryend joined as an honourary admin.
Hopefully this will be an end to all sides of the argument now that everything has been said and out in the open.
Yes, That was me and while i'm not very proud of the actions i took in that replay, at the time I felt that was the only form of action I could take... for weeks the admins had bullied me and mocked every race that i took part in, jumping at the chance to mock my lack of skill and the fact i was taking other racers out, when you watch the replay - notice i am taken out ( racing incident - it happens ! lol) but that FM stay very very quiet... now ask yourself this, if that was me crashing someone else out, would they have been so quiet...
Also, to even things up slightly, why is there no mention of the bullying that takes place on the FM server? Or the biased-restart policy? Or the fact that it's "Failure's server and he will do what the f*** he likes with it" - yet you try to pass it off as a community server?
Heres an audio interview with FM members - taken about a week ago
Enjoy. (P.s. you lot were asked to leave it, i guess that didn't get through)
No im just defending very end against personal attacks, I think you are being a spokesperson for the FM community here and it is very VERY sad to see the lengths you are going to, to pursue an argument.
I would encourage everyone watching this thread to have a long hard think at why this thread is going our of control, and why it has spiralled into this. Fair enough about discussing the server or any issues but please keep personal attacks out of it.
*sighs* because flame wars really dont have much place here, and seriously don't start on me because i've been more than civil in here - and just to clarify - veryend has said nothing but the truth in here, so you can take your elitest little community and leave the thread alone...
I think that the drafting has to be tweaked because its simply far too powerful, it reminds me of a racing game at times with it.
I think maybe a 3-5mph boost in speed when slipstreaming someone instead of nearly 10 would be better, and also would allow for tighter racing.
I'm not a big fan of bumping either, it gives the group a slightly unfair advantage.
Now to address some previous questions:
1. Why are we STILL named (OM): We are not going to change our name simply because it's not convenient to other servers, we aren't FM, we don't want to be FM and we will NEVER be FM. (OM) was started by a disgruntled group of regulars from the FM server, (OM) stays to show that.
2. Noobs on the oval: This still really annoys me, about how elitist everyone gets and distances themselves from new racers, sure you might think a lot of "noobs" are simply wreckers and have no interest in racing, but if you actually take 5 minutes from your dictatorship and talk to them, give them a setup and give them a few tips, it's quite cool to see the difference that makes. Most of them can keep the car stable, keep up with the pack and actually feel like there racing.
3. Ban's: Well we just had to ban our first person last night, for deliberatly standing on the track and having a very poor attitude. He will be unbanned and is very welcome to think about his behaviour and actually have a proper race with us, It took us 15 minutes to ban him last night, as we were all on ventrillo and really REALLY not wanting to ban anyone. But it seemed as if thats what he was gunning for. *sighs*
4. Being Different: right let's get something straight, we are a racing community, so unfortunatly thats something we will always share with some other servers, however we differ from our friendly approach to running the server, our non-abusive admins who encourage all racers, and the amount of new faces we have seen in the server. We don't slag people off, We have a clear restart policy, We do NOT judge ourselves to be above the racers and we want everyone on the server to enjoy themselves as much as you can while going 215mph round a concrete circuit.
lol you have to realise to get all this setup in like a day and a half - we still have things we have to change lol, and come on the server ... we'll get you setup
The server is for any skill and ANYONE is welcome, we will help you with setups, tips about the racing line to take.. racing etiquette and anything else you may need...
Also - I just actually seen what you meant - the message when connecting to the server ... changing it
lol the post was posted by a fan of the server, respect is given to EVERYONE on the server, automatically !
That is why the community is going to be so open, the only difference betwee n admins and normal racers is that we are responsible for paying to keep the hosting services running and are in charge of the website and the race server etc...and generally oversee races and help racers....
Being one of the admins on the server, I have to say thanks to Elanor lol I had no idea he was posting away and promoting the server, well done you!
Anyways, the Oval Munkys server was started off after a few regulars of another server became pissed off at the way it was run and masked as a community when they really picked and chose who was to be involved and part of that community, our community is going to be for everyone who wants to be part of it, regardless of your skill.
We offer a basic shared setup for the F1 cars and encourage for races to be a bout improving driver skill, rather than slating your opponents and a constant torrent of abuse.
As for the text spam, I agree completely... but how much of the complained spam was from the server and how much was contributed by admins !
At OM we are also running LFSLapper, but are still tweaking and deciding what settings shall be on and what shall be off, we are also working on a privacy mode so with a comment like !silence in chat the plugin will not send messages to that player... Some people find the data useful - some don't, we want to give racers that choice.
Please feel free to drop in the server in the next few weeks while we finalize everything, in the past two days we have went from a pissed off group, to the core of a racing community with great ideas, a fast server and the desire to include everybody who wants to be a part of it.
right, im a bit of a nub when using linux... Im trying to get this working on a dedicated linux server.. which it does perfectly, but I want to have it running 24/7 - anyone know how to execute a command that will stay running even after i disconnect from the terminal ?
I know this sounds really daft but its so simple! right the broadcaster needs two pcs, one pc to spectate in the race - actually connected to the server, then feeding the video and sound to a second pc via a capture card.
You could easily add effects, commentary or really anything else, this would work with Windows Media, RealServer or even (the most likely) WinampVideo... its so easy to setup a winamp server and you can easily adjust a hirable music server to stream the races, if anyone wants more details then give me a shout
I usually don't reply to troll's but I strongly disagree with your attitude, from what I can see your idea's are very generic in the first place...
If this guy has explicitly stolen your idea and passed it off as his own then be civil about it, talk to the guy and don't start acting like some child whose had his lollipop stolen.
I haven't been on these forum's long but I can see its mostly filled with articulate, intelligent people...lets keep it that way eh..
Hiya there people... I just bought LFS S2 two days ago and this is my first attempt at a skin, its still work in progress but feedback is much appreciated.
