Quote from thisnameistaken :With all McLaren's soft tyres worn out in the first practice session, good luck in quali!

Yeah well.....we'll be fine

My excuse...I just came from my CART race where I had 5 of each compound

Quote from al heeley :Nice one, but don't peak too early as I'll be drafting you all the way.

Hah I think it was luck more than anything after the wet practice! Not too convinced about my race pace...especially if it rains again, Brands feature race rain caught me out big time

Hmmm think i'll be joining a V8 race aswell then I may even get a fellow LFS driver (S2 licensed but doesn't come foruming) to join the two races...will try get him in my V8 team then actually as he's a RL mate

Quote from al heeley :Nice one, see you on the track! What name/team are you racing under?

In the A1GP i'm racing as 'Kingston' in the England car on pole for the Eurospeedway Sprint race tonight

In the LFS F1 season i'm DethMag in the McLaren

Quote from al heeley :just discovered this, really cool. I used to enjoy the microprose F1 management sim before Win2k killed it. Looking forward to participating in my first seasons!

Only on 2k? As I got it working on XP using the same trick as for C&C Gold

Anyway...this sounds intreguing...*makes mental note to look when I get home from work*

Quote from Cue-Ball :No thanks. I live in Seattle and most of the tracks in LFS are in Western Europe. The last thing I want is to drive in the rain EVERY SINGLE RACE!

Not always, I was in New York last week with work and it rained nearly every day...come home to just north of London on Saturday and the last couple of days and it's been hitting 30c (84 Fahrenheit) with bright sunshine and not a cloud to be seen.....

Gratz dude

I've got a replay back at home of what I think is my best race on SO Classic and that was only a 4th (or 5th) place finish! But then I did start 15th on a grid of 16 and lost out by 0.04 of a second to gain one more place in 10 laps

In fact I don't even remember my first win! The racing is what it's all about

So what do people generally think is the difference in total lap times with Wheel/Pedals against a Joypad or Joystick?

I know it can be differentiated between drivers quite a lot, but i've been using a Saitek P2500 pad and feel as if I could go quicker with a wheel/pedals combo as I could be smoother than I ever will be on the pad for throttle/steering inputs

Quote from ree44u :drag racing saubers? illepall

I've never seen F1 cars at Santa Pod...

I've seen em use it before...mainly for "shakedown" runs in the mid/late nineties. Benetton definately used it more than once

Think I joined about the same time...and I never raced online until April this year

Now i've been away for 4 days in New York on business (on a cruddy work laptop) and i'm not sure if I miss LFS or my girlfriend more!

That does sound good in theory...for the road cars

It wouldn't work to well for the single-seaters though as they don't have lights!

I've always thought of defending your position to be something where good judgement is when you only defend as hard as you would want someone else to be if you were passing them.
For instance I wouldn't want to have someone cut in front of me late so I wouldn't do it to them. I would however take a defensive line and squeeze them leaving a car's width of space, so I don't mind if someone does that to me

Of course I only have a limited amount of online time behind me but i've had good battles with people a second a lap faster as they try to pass me, and with people i'm a second a lap quicker than as i've tried to pass. I think i've always been pretty fair with people (only they will know of course)

Ahhhh.....

Shall I edit the first post to say "noob alert" =P

Thanks guys, only really started getting into the game and playing online recently so was doing setup work...have actually put 1% more fuel in for that length run now.

Am I the only guy who thinks the cars stop too quickly when they run outta fuel?

Found this the other day messing around on SP...

Entered the Pit-Lane just as I was about to run out of fuel, then as I went over the speed limit line the engine cut out. Managed to roll into the pit box and the game completed the pit-stop (Damage, Tyres, Fuel) but even though it had put fuel back into the tank (around 6L worth) the engine wasn't restarted.

This happened on SO1 in a FOX.

Surely if you were lucky enough to get to your pitbox when you run out of fuel it should restart the engine for you?
