What about system memory? What speed/how much does this guy have?

Also- the CPU is really slow.. He should upgrade it to 2.8 or 3Ghz (or as fast as his mobo can handle) to get all he can out of the GFX card.. it is horribly mismatched. 6600GT is a pretty quick card.. 2.2ghz Pentium for games is really slow. (My 2.2ghz Athlon is about as fast as a 3Ghz Pentium in games)..

Getting my X800XL today! Woot!!

6xAA and 16xAF for me in LFS now.. (even though I can do it with my tired 9700pro- it isn't that fast, it dips into the 30's with a full grid)

Quote from Roadie :where did you get the clutch peddle?

Yeah, where? Did you custom make it? I have never seen a pedal box with one pedal, LOL...

I personally don't think you are missing much- and Starforce messes up any PC I have ever had it on.. My PC has done a bunch of weird things since installing this demo- It is coming off soon and then I am getting starcrap off my PC...

I sure hope rF doesn't have starforce.

So skidding sound when one of the front tires lock.. No ambient sounds.. No transmission sound.. no gear shifting sound.. no 3d sound (stereo only- one of the biggest problems).. the list goes on. The sound is not horrible, but it could be improved upon in so many ways.

Maybe they should hire a sound expert? Just and idea.

Overall the sound is pretty lacking and what is there is not really up to par for 2005. I hope they do a lot of work on the sound.. and soon.

Quote from AndroidXP :Ok, I managed to hang my IE6 too now. And that's one of the reasons I use Firefox.

What did you do to hang IE? Please list it here so admins can fix it.

It isn't a problem with IE it is a problem with this forum. I hate FireFox.. so that is not an option. Please let's not turn this into an FF vs IE discussion.. This forum has issues!!! It needs fixing.

Quote from tailing :Imo it shouldn't be necessary and for me it isn't necessary. I have no problems whatsoever with oscillation in any car and I never change any of my ffb settings ever.

What are your settings then?

Quote from tailing :
As an aside, my theory is that setting both spring and damper to 0% does little to change the nature of the ffb in LFS except to lower the overall strength of these forces.

It does more than just lessen the overall strength. It does more than raise overall strength when turning the spring setting up too.
You can tune the forces with it, not just raise or lower the overall strength.

Quote from Mikkel Petersen :I would really like to see this in full s2 release! IMO the more realistic, the better!

Even the home made- RBNET has a penalty for false starting. It gives you a 15 second penalty I think, or maybe 20.. of course that is rally racing.. but still- if LFS is all about "reality" I cannot see why a false start was not implemented from the start..

Actually LFS S2 is exactly like GT4 in that regard. We need false starts for sure!

Actually my old Prelude had torque sensitive power steering- It felt like NO power steering until you really needed it, like in a parking lot. I also had 2 other cars w/o Power steering, one a RWD and one FWD... They were both great handling cars, and a blast to drive- but a pain in the A.. errr Arms.. in the parking lots.

At the that time I was benching 250LBS though, so it wasn't too much work. It felt like I was ripping to wheel off the car all the time though, similar to what the DFP feels like in LFS without any spring adjustment set.

I am doing small posts because if I write too much it locks up. The other window is still locked up.

Also you need to be running XP SP2 with all updates.

My system is clean with fresh install of SP2. Adaware- spybot, AVG AV.. only to scan email. No problems with any other sites.

Every time I post here it seems that button freezes on me. How could it be on my end if it only happens here? if it happened anywhere else I wouldn't even report it.

It happens when I quote..

You need to quote- post a pic, try 5 or 6 pics- put some smilies in there- also put in a hyperlink w/o the tags and let the website do it for you.

Well since this forum LOCKS IE6 if I quote or insert a link or anything. I will quote then write the message.. illepall

No the driver is not buggy at all...

The guy who writes the drivers explains exactly why the spring and damper forces are there, it has to do with how game devs used to write code for FF and how different manufacturers FF wheels interpret those signals.

The spring setting should and does affect the forces generated by LFS...

Yeah the older pedals are crap, at least some of them. They have a significant probability of being defective- it is a design flaw. The new Rev. B00 has metal POTS and for me they work flawlessly. I can compare them to my Momo force pedals which have the touchy plastic POTS.. The new DFP pedals work perfect. Smooth as they could possibly be.

Get the DFP, it is far superior to your MS Wheel in many ways. The place where you see if it is a rev B00 or later is on the inside of the box though, on the plastic bad that holds the manual.

Quote from AndroidXP :Oh well, ok then. I rest my case

I have an MS FF wheel and that ignores any settings regarding centering spring and effect strength as soon as LFS runs. And if your DFP has a different behaviour on those spring settings I'd blame it on a faulty/buggy driver because that spring setting shouldn't touch the forces generated by LFS.

I thought about getting a DFP but I always hear that the pedals are crap and that the FF is better on the Sidewinder. Also the drivers seem to always interfere with the FF so I dunno But then again... 900° and a myriad of buttons... arrggh decisions.
