Reselling License?

I saw a post in the RSC forums where someone was offering his LFS license for sale. Now, all the arguments about why someone would want to stop playing LFS aside, does the LFS license agreement allow you to do resell or transfer your license?

Quote from AndroidXP :Bummer it won't have multiplayer, so its longlivety is somewhat questionable.

It won't? I thought that netKar PRO focused on multiplayer, so much so that it doesn't include any AI.

I have been getting into GT Legends too. I was a bit hesitant about picking it up as I don't like the feel of the cars in GTR, SimBin's previous offering, and rFactor left me cold. GT Legends, though, is excellent. At first, I had difficulty moving back and forth between GTL and LFS as the driving feel of the two games is so different but now it only takes a few laps to readjust when I switch between them. I find that the differences actually enhance my appreciation of those aspects that each game does well. Thankfully, there's space on my hard drive for both of these excellent games.

Congratulations to the LFS team! There was some stiff competition this year which makes your accomplishment all the more impressive.

For those who missed it, LFS S2 also picked up the AutoSimSport 2005 Readers Awards Best Simulation prize: http://www.autosimsport.com/is ... osimsport_janfeb_2006.zip

... doesn't seem to get nearly as much credit as he deserves? Eric Bailey. The art assets in LFS S2 are truly exceptional. His models are outstanding, the artwork is superb and the design and layout of the tracks is excellent. Not only is his work highly detailed -- even in places you hardly even notice during a race -- and very clean, it's also surprisingly frame rate friendly. A rare accomplishment.

My hat is off to you, Eric.

Another vote for Richard Burns Rally here. Superb game! It has a steep learning curve but once you accept that you will drive faster by not pushing so hard and learn not to fight the car, driving the stages becomes a real adrenalin rush.

If I drove in LFS the same way I drive on the street it would take me about 4 minutes to do a lap around Blackwood.

I'm in western Canada (GMT -8 hours) and also find it difficult to find a multiplayer game during the hours I normally play. I suppose joining a league or a team is the best way around the problem.
Increasing LFS's Visibility in the Market

The recent thread on the popularity of LFS in various countries got me thinking of ways to increase LFS's visibility in the marketplace. Have there ever been any promotions such as, for instance, a competition in which one or more full licenses are given away as prizes to those who submit the fastest laps in the demo? If this sort of promotion was targeted at an appropriate audience, it would generate interest, increase exposure and at the very least get people to play the demo.

One market segment that could be targeted is the online racing enthusiast community e.g. AtlasF1, probably the largest Formula 1 website, which has a very active online membership. A fair number of people there play racing sims, yet I don't believe I've ever seen LFS so much as mentioned.

Another segment is the flight sim community. There are a significant number of people who play flight sims and also play racing sims. I'm one of them. Yet, only a small portion of these have heard of LFS, much less played it.

Anyway, just a thought.

Does advance payment benefit the developers or help fund development in any way?

Interesting stats, thanks Nitemare. Makes me wonder why there is such a big disparity between Scandinavia and the rest of the world though. And it also makes me feel a bit sad to know that only about 1000 people in my own country play LFS. Maybe I'll try to boost those numbers a little through word of mouth.
