Gentlefoot, the League Of The Americas just finished it's second FO8 season, and I have one suggestion for you: DO NOT CHOOSE Fern Bay Green!

Other than that, try to choose wide open tracks that provide for plenty of maneuvering room due to the aero-push you get with the FO8.

Quote from Macels :Not too many Americans play this game from what I gather.. I doubt there would be enough interest..

I'd love to see nurburgring, and my local track, lime rock..

Hmmm....the United States is only the 3rd largest licensed group of LFS drivers in the world: http://www.lfsworld.net/?win=racer_search&whichTab=stats

Get S2, and you'll find many North American drivers online in the evenings over here.
LOTA MRT/Karting Series Test Event #2

Since our first test event for this possible new series was encouraging and revealed some things to consider, we've decided to host another test event this coming Monday, April 23, 2007. The participating drivers in Test Event #1 recognized some issues and expressed their concerns, and track designer David "Le Kid" Sirois has gone back to the drawing board in an effort to address those concerns!

The next test event, will feature a layout that will be familiar to the Test Event #1 drivers, with some barrier changes, among others. This test event will test a few more series related items:

a) Race Night: We have a poll open to ask what the best day to race is, and Monday is the favorite so far. We'll try Monday to see if it works.

b) Race Duration: The first test event had 12-minute races. Because of the modified layout geared toward less barrier-affected races, we'll be trying 15 minute races this time around.

c) Larger Fields: David has invited some of the racers that competed in his recent LFSQuebec racing league, and his FLOG Racing associate, Frosty St.Clair, has also invited some folks, so we should have a much larger field this time around!

Server Info
Server Name: LOTA League Server 1

9:45 PM EST - Practice Ends - 5 minute break.

Please join us to help develop this possible new LOTA series!

I think the current master server based balancing is done by weight because they already have the weight thing built into the car physics model in the form of passengers. Scawen said that the weight thing is a temporary fix handled by the master server while they work on the more permanent solution in Patch X that will be handled by the program.

We are having another test event this coming Monday! This time, we will be using reworked tracks that try to eliminate the need for the barriers.

Please visit the LOTA Website for details.

Now that we know PJ is going to be OK, we can resume talk about how OLD the dudes (and one elf) at LOTF are...... :haha:

Quote from GruntOfAction :Please stop mocking the team.

It's actually a pretty good name.

I know a few racing teams in RL with Dick in them and no1 makes fun of them.

Honestly, what did you expect?

Quote from Scawen :The delay between the last red and the green is randomised, it is not the same each time (as stated in the change log).

Hmm...I guess I didn't see that in the change log. Sorry. Can you comment on what the variation of start times is? I ask because we had several race last night and it seemed as if the time between the last red and green was very similar. Perhaps a system that would give you a random 1,2,3,4, or 5 seconds between red and green lights instead of what is maybe tenths different?

EDIT: I see the change log line now...I guess I associated that with the difference in time between appearing on the grid and the start of the light sequence that was done a while back for lag reasons. Sorry for that!

The 9:30 PM EST starting time is set so that people from the West Coast, as well as people in the South American countries that are a time zone ahead of EST can still compete. It's a bit of a challenge with 6 different time zones covering the Western Hemisphere.

Quote from ebola :Nice start 0.01 secs

No person can react that fast in reality so there definitely needs to be some limit set on that.

Keep up the good work

Since we are at the point where human reaction and prediction is involved in the starts, would it be more realistic to make the lights more random? In drag racing here in the US, when the starting lights go on (from a human starter), the time from yellow to green in constant, but the time from both cars ready to the start sequence is random.

In LFS, we have the three light countdown that is at constant time intervals (red to red to red to green), giving people the opportunity to predict when the green light comes on, giving some people (that time it correctly) an advantage and others a larger disadvantage from lag.

Would it be difficult to change it so that the red light still come on at the same intervals, but they all stay on for some random amount of time (or at least one of a few different set intervals, chosen randomly)?

I have another question regarding patch versions: When this new incompatible patch comes out, can older patches (W) still communicate and log actions/laps/PB's with LFS World?
Micro-GTR Shootout

As the Spring 2007 seasons of the Formula V8 & Formula XR series conclude this Thursday (19-Apr-07), it's time to start thinking about the next LOTA Mini-series!

Starting on May 3, 2007, LOTA will be presenting the Micro-GTR Shootout, a 4-race mini-series featuring the UFR's & XFR's. The event format consists of twenty minutes of qualifying, followed by 45 minutes of racing on tracks where the cars are evenly matched.

The series is initially limited to the first 20 drivers to register, with reserve slots available. Registration is now open. To register, please login to the LOTA forums and visit the Micro-GTR Shootout main menu, and click on the "REGISTER" tab. You must choose a car to run for the whole season, so think hard and choose carefully!

The test event went alright. Would have liked to see a larger field, but for the test, it was fine.

Some concerns that have been brought up:

1) Lack of pits makes staying out of trouble really important.

2) Hitting the barriers causes a lot of damage. Noted Tweaker's comments about possibly using signs and tire stacks instead. Will investigate.

3) MRT's lack of reverse gear. If you get spun around, and are facing a wall, the only option is to reset. If you reset either facing a wall or facing the wrong way, that's bad.

Some things to think about, but I think with some modifying of some of the aspects, we can make it an interesting series. I will post again when I know more.

Cheers.

Does this offer need to be limited to STCC? Since you are in Canada and your company is in the US, how about sponsoring a US/Canada based team or league?
