sure its smoother, but your eye is still seeing things normally (as opposed to say 3 or 4 fps) and this should not affect anything in the game. When i first started playing LFS, i played the demo servers with 10 fps and still managed 1.25-1.26 on blackwood with xrt. Which isn't exactly top notch but definitely good enough to compete with other players. Now i average 20-25 fps and without a doubt notice the difference from 10-20 fps but honestly, i don't think that if i got 100fps my times would be much better than they are. Racing with a mouse doesn't exactly help either.

P.S. Refering to what Dropin biking said, i too did not mean to start a fight and i'm sorry if it sounded like i was trying to. Only was trying to state an opinion

Quote from dropin_biking :^Um..no. Because films are 23 to 29fps...and I can see differences between 30 and 60fps. So you might want to check that fact...
~Bryan~

No why? i said that the eye can see roughly 21 fps. you said films are 23-29. my point remains the same....that there is no use in having 160 frames

"Few people perceive flicker above about 75 hertz. These rates would be impractical for the actual frame rate of most film mechanisms so the shutter in the projection devices is actually arranged to interrupt the light two or three times for every film frame. In this fashion, the common frame rate of 24 fps (frames per second) produces 48 or 72 pulses of light per second, the latter rate being above the flicker fusion rate for most people most of the time."

Wikipedia.org

Later on in the article....

"An average 17" monitor can reach 85 Hz, meaning that any performance reached by the game over 85 fps is discarded."

another reason why have 160 fps is useless.

i did my research, where is yours?

the brain can only register approx 21 fps. there is nothing to worry about

its called powershifting in real life. If you do it correctly in real life, you shouldn't really cause TOO much damage but yes, eventually it will cause wear to your tranny. LFS just exagerates the shift, letting the RPM's rise way too much. If you were powershifting in a real vehicle, you want to get into the next gear as soon as possible.

the point about pressuring your opponent isn't necessarily true in real life. Knowing the personality of your opponent and his mentality during a real life race helps a lot of is very much a part of the race. Creeping up on him and just lingering, making sure he knows your there can very well cause him to goof up. I think the strategy works both in the sim and also in rea life

Quote from Hyperactive :Just something to say about the whole track picture drawing deal. If you just draw a simple line to show where the road goes the picture is usless. Real tracks (unlike in LFS ) have altitude changes, some of the corners are cambered and the track scenery is quite vital to the atmosphere as well. Is the track old or new, does it have a freshly laid asphalt and are the kerbs just painted or are there skidmarks on them. What do the track side buildings look like, are there trees around the track, is the placed on Sahara or an island in the middle of the Mediterrean ocean? Is the track width the same all the time? Does Elvis live nearby?

At least draw some altitude lines, buildings and more info about the tracks, those pics are useless.

just curious..how would you draw a track diagram in the way you describe? I'm not being obnoxious, i really want to know. What do you mean by altitude lines etc.

just for clarification purposes, the term noob is not a derogatory term, it has been transformed into one but the way that the initial poster used the word is not in any form mean, foul or rude.

"Noob, short for Newbie,

Newbie: a newcomer or novice, esp. an inexperienced user of the Internet or of computers in general."

to be honest, i didn't read this whole thread but i am going to comment on it anyway. I always used school to get what i wanted from my parents. My mom is/was like yours and was very selective over what i could/could not have. When it came to my parents, school was top priority. If i did good in school, i got what i wanted. It was very simple. Luckily, i naturally get good grades and didn't have to worry that much.
Anyway, my point is that you should try using school as a trade off. Tell your parents, if i get so and so marks, then you buy the license. Also let them know that if your grades go down, they can take the game away. This is all assuming of course that you are capable of the grades. I am not going to judge you but i will say that this technique does not work if you can't prove yourself lol

and the name of the server has still not been established yet....

ah so what i have been creating is not a server. what have i exactly been doing then lol?
creating a server?
ans7812
S2 licensed
how do i create a server if i just want to hold a race on it? I click the Create Game or w/e the button is and then i set all of the settings and the title and then i join the race. The problem is when i try to leave, i have to end the game and ultimately the server. Is the server that i am creating an actual server that would appear on the server list? If it is, why does it close when i leave the game?

If what i have made is not a real server, how do i create a "real" server?

Thanks
