I like the fact you can drive tracks like Cadwell, but when you see past the flashy mods, the game just doesnt feel right.

Yeah it is awesome value for money. I got rFactor too and thats half as driveable and addictive as LFS.

LFS proves that you don't need gimmicks like Mods to keep people interested, so I spose it is a good way to support the Devs.

I was thinking though that maybe some people had alterior motives.

I drove 80 miles to some place in Lincoln to get mine same day. Teckheads I think they were called. Really nice guys, they kept the place open until I got there cos there were roadworks on the A1 holding me up :-)

I've just been on thier site. Says about prize money etc.

So what happens if you're in a race for prize money and you get taken out by some idiotic driving?

What happens to the guy that caused the accident? Does he get a ban? Does he still have to pay the subscription? Are they seriously going to ban a paying customer?

Does the driver that was taken out get any kind of appeal process?

I bet there is a thousand page long document of terms and conditions tied up in this business plan. They're treading on thin ice IMO. They will end up covering thier own arses and in the process, alienate thier customers.

It's a shame, because one of the first Sims I played was a Papyrus Indycar game, I'd go so far as saying it got me hooked, along with GP2 by geof crammond.

yeah i'll do that, thanks.

I'm already using a bit of card, which helps, but a proper manly plank of wood should be even better!

I think something has been missed here, the poor bastard got hit in the face by a pigeon in the same race!

Id say go straight for the G25 too. I got mine last week, it's my third wheel. The first was a saitek that cost me £20 and has the best clamp ever, but no ffb. The second, and i thought was a complete con, a formula force vibration wheel. It's got not FFB, the wheel just rumbles randomnly which does nothing for your concentration!

Ok the G25 is expensive, but if your playing driving games around 5 hours per week, you're soon going to forget what you paid for it.

try it on a different pc. I'm living in pure Vista hell at the moment. I can't use my msn account on my vista pc, but it works fine on my laptop, the computer I originally created the account on.

I'm having the same problem as you so hope you find a fix!

I got my G25 last week.

It's amazing, my times have come down by at least a second lap already!

Only problem I have is keeping it stuck to the desk!

Servers

A couple of days ago, when I was looking to join a game, I'd get a list of around 500 servers, thats dropped down to about 50 now.
Ive also noticed that the choice of servers with people connected to them is really slim. Infact the only 2 servers I can join are cone dodgers and carribean cruise. Theyre the only 2 servers I can see with people racing! Im enjoying the conedodgers server, but is this normal? I only downloaded and bought my s2 license last week, would have thought there were loads of people online.

I've always played racing sims with the keyboard, until I recently found LFS! I paid £20 for a Saitek R220 wheel about a year ago but have never used it. I plugged it in the other day and did my best to get to grips! I really struggled to be honest, but what I found was reducing the WHEEL TURN setting in controls to 90 degrees made the world of difference!
Also, having analouge throttle and brake pedals makes a HUGE difference on car control, if you say you already have this wheel, I'd give it another try but play about with the settings a bit!

Thanks for all the advice guys! I've found the FOX good! Spent hours on end on GP2 + 4 before finding LFS so I like the way the single seaters handle. I was finding it hard to control EVERY car at first! One thing I will say to other new guys reading this is GET THE WHEEL SORTED RIGHT! I've not got a brilliant wheel, but it will do for now! The problem I had was that my gas pedal wasn't working the way it should, it was more like a button, either full on, or full off. A quick driver update solved this and proved that throttle control is paramount in this game!
My next target is to lap the Aston GP circuit sub 2:50! Got a long way to go yet!

Hi everyone, I'm a complete and utter noob!
I just wondered if anyone had some suggestions on which car I should practice in to get a good feel for the physics of the game? I understand you get FWD, RWD etc, I'd just like to know what a good start is!

Im here to eventually have some great contests once im up to speed, from what I can see its a lot more rewarding than racing AI cars! I dont want to be upsetting people in the process of learning!
