Ok, sorry maybe that sounded a bit odd, i just meant that you reach a realistic view before you stop being able to see the important things needed to race a car well.

Anyway, instead of going on about the good and bad points of a low view it is still slightly off putting for those who use it when things dissapear in front of you!

It doesnt make it better BUT it doesnt make it WORSE so lowering the view makes it more realistic thats my point.... and IMO thats more fun!

If lowering the view a small amount cuts out anything you would usually look at when racing then quite simply you arent looking at the right points on the race track and could probably improve your times in that area (not that im claiming to be super fast because of it as im really not and im sure i could come up with a whole load of other excuses why not!! )

Quote from Gunn :Why sit down low? You won't see as much of the road if you are too low. If you are using a custom view and have lowered yourself down then you are probably putting yourself at a competitive disadvantage.

The standard view in the single seaters is way too high and not very realistic in itself and thats why I sit down low! It makes it a lot more real as in most single seaters you can see sweet fa of the front of the car! The only thing is that you lose realism in not being able to 'lean' your head into the turn as in real life in order spot the clipping point and then the line out onto the following straight... so its still a compromise between a low position and lowering the lateral camera movement under g in order to give a good and enjoyable view.

It doesnt really give a competitive disadvantage at all as all the important things can still be seen... you can see a reasonable amount of the top of the wheels, still see all the way to the next corner when looking forwards and provided the fov isnt too low then no problems with still seeing clipping points etc... its just a little distracting when things start dissapearing!!

Quote from Robbson :

AGAIN: I (want) pay for driving with the community and not for the content!

Robbson.

Then unfortunately you have missunderstood what the licence system is all about and that is no one elses fault but your own

If you don't want the content you can still drive online for FREE (granted it is restricted but there is still some fun to be had in the demo) It's a shame you paid for S1 just before S2 came out but unfortunately thats life.... Remeber also that we are not at version 1.0 yet so its not a complete product and so i don't think any other arguments giving examples of discounts for *favouritegame*v1 when *favouritegame*v2 is released are valid.... this is still one game and one game only

My advice would be go and play the demo for a while if your not happy with the 18€, find some clean racers there (there are some believe it or not!! ) and hopefully you'll have some fun and realise that an extra 18€ is really not that big a deal... Good Luck!

If you restrict the current demo, a lot of people wont have to time to 'get' the game and people who are umming and aarring about getting it wont bother getting it... right now those people also get slowly persuaded to buy it

On the other hand if you increase the available content even a little bit the amount of people just happy with playing the demo will increase dramatically!!

If the demo wasnt good enough as it is, why would so many people have bought the game already??

Quote from alco64 :Hey Scawen. Good job on the new patch and mini patches!
Just 1 thing which isn't that much of a biggy.
You cannot see any skid marks through the small glass window in any of the open wheelers (being FOX, F08 and BF1)
Can become a bit distracting during a race. Not sure if this can be quickly fixed just in the exe but i thought i'd bring it up.

Thanks and keep up the awesome work

Yeah i just noticed this too! Usually im looking much further ahead for it to bother me but now i know about it i cant help staring through the little piece of glass!!

Quote from danowat :What I also found interesting, is people using, or starting to use, LFS without any net connection, TBH for me if it were not for the net connection I very much doubt I would play LFS at all.

i suppose it depends what you have played before.... i.e. if your already coming from PC games where you are used to playing online its probably the first thing your going to do... but then im sure there are also a fair few people (like myself) who come from the world of arcade games and are just not used to the realism and being able to play against REAL opponents! So i guess in that situation the AI helps a little bit to adjust to a simulation!

Although i think i only want the AI because they have been my only friends for all but 2 weeks at christmas damn uni firewall! cant wait for May!!

LFS definitely needs AI at least for people playing for the first time and for people who can't get on the internet!

There is no way i would have got my licence if i had found that the first time i played it was just me driving around a track on my own.... yes i know its meant to be an online game but you do need to have something to keep people happy who cant get online! And when i first went online i was very daunted because everyone was so much better and i had read loads about people getting angry when a 'noob' causes an accident so i was a little scared tbh ( )

i used the AI to improve as if you can have a clean race against them you can have a clean race against anyone!! although they do need to be made a bit quicker i think... that way once you start beating them easily you know you can at least keep up online!

the other thing the AI is good for is wrecking..... now i will never agree with wrecking online (unless its specifically a destruction derby in a carpack) but you can take out any wrecking needs on the AI... making them pile up can be pretty hilarious when your bored!

but i do agree that the AI doesnt need time wasted on them atm! that can come later on after some of the important things are sorted..... the AI are ok for now!

Quote from danowat :hehehe, nearly every American I have spoken to says, when asked where I live, (in an American accent) "Is that near London", errrr....no, London is one of many Cities in the UK

Dan,

to be fair i think it is probably the same for a lot of us asking an american where they are from! i know i would have trouble!

Its always hard for me when an american asks where im from and i say Jersey.... i havent come across someone (YET) who understands where it is!

But the funniest bit is when you explain that New Jersey is actually named AFTER Jersey in the Channel Islands and NOT the other way around well they always just laugh not believing you saying that you must be from England and that you actually still mean New Jersey!

Although having said that i bet someone will come back saying they have been to Jersey and know where it is!

I love F1 too!! admitedly 2002-2004 were not the most exciting and dont get me started on Ferrari !!! but people have to stop comparing F1 to other motorsport disciplines!!! no two disciplines are the same and you cant compare them.... thats what makes them all good

for example motogp has some fantastic track action but it doesnt have all the tactical sides like F1 has... both very exciting in their own ways

also you cant expect every race you watch to be a 'classic'. if you're lucky you will see a couple of 'classic' races in a season but you simply arent going to get one at every race. A lot of people will watch only one race and then judge which is stupid illepall give the season time to develope and then you will see the action

and i dont know how anyone can call last year's F1 boring... it was one of the best for ages (excpet for the indy rubbish!!)! and anyone who thinks classic dont happen anymore should go watch the jap gp.... round the outside of schumi at 180 mph... boring??? i dont think so illepall

this year will be even better because there is so much unknown about the V8's... and they are going to show the best drivers because they will have less grunt to get them out of trouble this year. cant wait to see the ew qualy format it looks good!
