Quote from ajp71 :Any evidence of this? I'd have thought in a single seater the aerodynamic penalty of having sensors mounted in the air flow would stop anybody attempting it.

F1 cars have well over 100 sensors and actuators which monitor and control many parts of the car, just for an example... here's a site http://www.activesensors.com/i ... oducts/motorsportsensors/

Many can even be controled on the fly...

but I don't think everything should be shown on all cars, keeping it real is best... eg. no sensors on road cars

Quote from Delzo :A NASCAR stock car would be a natural as well.

True but it needs to be suited to more than just KY1, havent seen alot of nascar but i have never seen them on anything but an oval

I got a few ideas, what about cars like (don't know if they've been said)

Westfield XTR2, a single-seater powered by a 1299cc Suzuki GSX1300R engine http://www.westfieldxtr.com/

Mosler MT900, a 600hp V8 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mosler_MT900

Holden VE SS-V (utility/pickup) http://www.v8utes.com.au/ (V8, 6L 270 kW (360 hp))

so we've worked out that the XRG does wheelspin and as for acceleration, well it seems to do better than the Nissan

so to help with the "feeling" of acceleration you could try this insim app http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=682863#post682863 or simply going to options-->view in LFS and setting up acceleration shifts

Quote from danielzzz :I have got the feeling it's more than 116hp,because i rode a Peugeot 206GTi and it didnt had this whip effect like the nissan. And its 138hp.

Just because a car has more HP doesnt mean it'll take off quicker (I guess thats what you mean by the whip effect) .... Gearing is just as important and by other factors like weight, power loss (power at the flywheel can be different to the output at the wheels) wheel size

Pit entry/exit lines, Racers get a drive-through if these are touched
Pic: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ntrollines.jpg
Drive-Through, Racers that are serving a drive though must stay on the pit "fastlane"
Pic: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...s/fastlane.jpg
Pit stops, when preforming a pit-stop/stop-go the racer must not travel more then 8 meters (example) then in the pit box or yellow zones
(I posted these in the other post but they could be grenal inprovements)

Illegal Passes, Pases that are made by going off track should be deemed illegal and must be reversed or a drive-through will result
Cutting Corners, if too many corners are cut the racer is served with a drive-through
Reserve Fuel, Incase the main runs out before the pits.. roughly should have 1 lap, but should have an attached pentaly (+5 sec on laptime)

These arent so much as server optionsas a general ideas but could be controled with a /forcepitrules=1

Start Type, Standing or Rolling /starttype=S/R

P.S. I see the pit lines was already suggested by _ak, too late now... i even done the pic and everything

I have two ideas

Pitstop windows, eg. pit window opens after 5 laps after start of race and closes within 3 of the finish

Two compulsory stops, one for fuel and one for tyres as an option

I have done abit of redesigning

Mainly lowering wheel, stick and monitor and brought them closer

Quote from Turbo Dad :No adjustment?

There will be some, the seat is still adjustable as normal (slides back and forth, as well as tilt) and the frame extends so far coz thats where the places for the rear speakers are

Quote from nikimere :where's your keyboard and mouse gonna go??

I thought about that, and well it's gonna be big enough as it is... I got one of them usb numeric pads so i was just thinking of using that next to steering wheel for binds and stuff ... my keyboard/mouse will be on the table next to me anyway

Quote :If you are going to have your pedals in that configuration, you definitely will want to adjust the angle I would think.

good idea

Building a cockpit (advice/input welcome)

Heya

I am in the process of designing and building my cockpit, the design part is finished (well maybe an adjustment for the gear bit)

but as I have not really made anything such as this I thought that i would post the design (and the small bit that I done) so if anyone can pick flaws or give some good advice b4 I build the thing, that'll be very much appreciated

-------

I have designed it to be made with 25x25mm RHS with (what is planed to be MDF wood inserts)

I was gonna to buy a MOMO first, thats why the part for the G25 gear stick looks like a after thought

as you might tell it's quite big and heavy so i am making it so it is two parts ... as you can most likely see it'll join in the middle (probably by bolts)

To give you's an idea of the scale the full lengh of the design is 1775mm, 935 high and 800 wide

and this is what i have done, I thought I'd best ask b4 it's to late to change stuff

AI's

Since LFS calculates the amount of fuel burnt per lap how about having the AI pit when their remaining fuel load is at 150% of the fuel burnt per lap amount?

Another method is to refuel them when they run outta fuel kind of like how the AI repair.

Quote from CSU1 : Track-IR, I never got this. Hold on, you turn your head left/right to see in that direction within game whilst your eye's are fixed forward. What?

E.

Im sure some may say 'oh it feels very natural once you get the hang of it'...but it makes no physical sense whatsoever imo.

I have always thought of that point too, I guess it's not really an option unless you have multiple monitors

Quote from CSU1 :I don't quite understand what you say Scania?

Do you not know when you are braking? It seems strange to use the rear lights as a que to when the brakes are applied.
Do the three indicators down on the bottom right of the screen not tell you this too?

If I where you Scania I would practice/refine or change the way you drive as most people use audible que's to tell them when the car is braking/sliding.

Also if the 'brake axis indicator' is wrongly placed on the screen for you and you find it hard to both look at the red bar and drive there is another option you could use in the form of Windows utility's on-screen magnifier.

The magnified window can be resized to a small box and placed anywhere that is easy for you to see whilst driving-you will need to keep your mouse hovering over the brake indicator and the game must be in window mode(shift+F4).

To bring up windows magnifier press 'Windows Key + U' and follow instructions.

I believe Scania is refering to the other cars, not their own...

Quote from Greboth :
Couldn't you press v to go to the front wheel view instead of f?

with FPS like that it'd only make it worse but maybe going to the front while using forces view then you'd be able to concentrate on the car in front of you while approching corners

Quote from Sketchyrollin564 :right, and if your around 5'8 or taller (im 5'11), you will notice that driving with sun visors (unless its that bright) are a pain in the arse, and just get in the way of your field of vision

and just remember that this is a game, it's not really you sitting in the GTR

Quote from Anathema :All the skins have to get modified. It looks good how it is now.

People make new skins all the time, it'll be no biggie

why not

Quote from djgizmo68 :Perhaps a server joining option..

"Server is Full, Would you like to watch the race as a spectator and await an opening space?"

or maybe servers offering the Spectator Mode.

"Join Race"

"Spectator Mode" (On/Off in Server config etc)

not a bad idea

as [RCG]Boosted said about multiple view points, they could be the from the gandstands/crowds on the various tracks
