i just noticed the Favicon in the forum has changed, it now seems to be the default vBulletin-icon. (i can´t remember what it was before, i only noticed that it has changed).
Maybe your timers run too fast on your machine, I have a similar problem with my PC in 1 out of 10 restarts my timers (and therefor my real time clock also) runs at 1.2x the normal speed. For me this problem is usually gone after a reboot. When this is happening to me, i get the exact same symptoms in LFS, the LFS netcode tries to sync the timers every few seconds causing this lag. Check your clock in the taskbar for running too fast. Btw, if your clock is running ahead, it is set correctly from BIOS after the next restart, Windows seems to sync the clock with BIOS only once when booting and runs independently from this point on.
If it is indeed your clock running too fast, i haven´t found any solution yet . For me its just annyoing to have to restart from time to time to get the right clockspeed.
sorry, no crash-adress, but i have visual-studio installed, so it starts as a debugger (but i don´t have any clue about debuggers and any information i can get from it). At first i thought it had soemthing to do with loading a replay first, but it crashed for me without loading a replay before too (As you can see in my edit). It seems to be important that you don´t enter any host, because it never crashed after entering a host and going back to main-menu after that. It never crashed when LFS has loaded the hostlist from cache, but it did crash after refreshing the host list and then exiting to main-menu.
Update: I found something in the Visual Studio Debugger :
its in german, so my rough translation :
unhandled exception at 0x7c809813 in LFS.exe: 0xC0000005:
access violation while writing at position 0x03796460.
I just noticed 2 things while trying the new patch :
the first thing i did when i started LFS Y19 was of course watching a replay (because of the new replay controls ), so when i wanted to watch a MPR, LFS wants to connect to the internet to check and load skins and because it was the first start of a new patch the "window while connecting" option in multiplayer-menu was still set to "yes", so LFS switched to windowed mode even when loading the MPR, after finishing loading LFS switched back to fullscreen, i don´t know if it its a bug or a feature, but it was the first time i noticed it.
the other thing is, LFS crashes for me (exits to desktop) everytime i do this :
- go to multiplayer-menu from main-menu
- display list of hosts, wait for the list to finish loading
- don´t enter any host and click "back" button to go back to multiplayer-menu
- press "back" again in this menu
--> LFS crashes, but ONLY if i watched a MPR or SPR before these actions, if i go to the multiplayer-menu directly, everthing is fine
EDIT: LFS just crashed for me without watching a replay first...
i really like the demo so far, considering its early stage.
For the ones who are disturbed by the upright view, it helped me alot when i turned up the tilt slider in settings/simulation, so that the view gets tilted, gives a much better feel of what the bike is doing.
I still need much improvement in speed though (i never rode a bike for real), my best time so far is a 56.5 with a dual analogue-stick gamepad (basically like a PS2-Controller).
i don´t know wether its my PC or LFS, but since i installed Y14 (maybe even in earlier versions, but i haven´t played LFS for a longer time and havent had this before) i get a crackling sound when i press and hold CTRL+SHIFT (actually i get this crackling sound when pressing and holding any modifier key), so i ask if anyone noticed the same problem, but as is said earlier its maybe my machine.
i have a userID of 16 in this forum , and i think users´s ID is taken from the registration on the LFS.net site. It would fit in my case , because i surely registered on LFS.net the 1st day registration was possible, but this was sure in demo days, so nothing can be said about 1st S1 license. On the other hand i prepaid S1 and was surely in the first bunch of guys that got S1.
It seems i can´t connect to it, i only get a grey screen and an error message in the top left corner saying : "InSim Relay connection failed : Error #2048".
I am using Firefox 2.0.0.11 and Flash-Plugin 9,0,115,0
I am having no problems with any other Flash content.
Anyone knows what the problem is ?
(I have read that some people have problems with Firefox, but i don´t see the connection to the browser, cause its the same plugin in all browsers)
Edit: Doh, i just found out it was my firewall blocking it, i just disabled it temporarily and it works
Does anyone know what port it needs to works properly ?
I think you have to enable "enable hardware monitoring" (the topmost checkmark in your screen), then the other options are available too. (In the last screenshot)
It is called Hyper Pi and it is basically a graphical user-interface for Super-Pi, but it can start multiple instances of Super-Pi , one for every core of the CPU, maybe we can start giving results with this tool, too.
I can´t test it, because i have only a 1core CPU (Athlon XP 3200+).
i just a go at it, and i would do it exactly the same way StewartFisher didi it :
calculate a cost per day and person (2 people for 3 days = 6 people days and 3 people for 7 days = 21 peopledays, so a total of 27 peopledays = 750 / 27 = 27,77 per people and day, so each people that stayed for 7 days has to pay 83,31 and everyone who spent 7 days has to pay 194,39)
Your post made me curious and i tried some AI on that track, result was :
in a 10 lap race the best lap of the AI was 1:14,98, so you either have a very fast AI or a very fast setup
(Maybe you had some LX6 AI racing ? in LX6 the best lap of my AI was 1:11,65, which fits your results better )
in normal racing and switching gears i do not heat up my clutch, but once you come to a stop (i.e. for a pitstop) and have to make a 2nd start from a standstill, my clutch is already red and slipping, which is surely a bit overdone.
btw, i am using manual clutch with a button in lack of a third pedal
i think the OP meant that the particular racer is sent to spectate mode , not that you are viewing the particular racer.
The function to send someone to spectate modeis currently not there.
OT: does anyone remember the game "wings" on Amiga ?
one of the best WW1 games ever...it really has a story and you even learn about WW1 playing this game.
I got the same behaviour and for me it was my gfx-card getting too hot, the thermal compund had simply dried out. I replaced the card with a new one one (before i knew it was the thermal compound) and never had any problems since. (old card was an Radeon 9500 pro, new one is a Radeon 1650Pro).
I also renewed the thermal compound in the old card and testet it in a different PC and had no probs with the old card either, i presume 80 % of the freezing problems are gfx-cards overheating.
sry, i don´t have time for a longer post, but this idea is very interesting.
I once found a website with a "fish-eye" quake used exactly a "distorted" screen tu achieve higher FOV. I donßt have a link here right now, maybe you could google it.
