VERL 2020 - Round 2
V8 Racing League 2020
Round 2

Sunday,27th September
17:30 UTC / 19:30 CET / 20:30 EET

After not being on schedule last year,Rockingham returns as a hosting venue for VERL action. For this year it has been chosen to use the configration which is last in the standard configs list - numbered with 11,named Sportscar. But VERL will not use the 1st chicane and bypass it over oval's 1st turn, thus removing a section just creating problems. One lap of this configuration is just 2.7 kilometers long and besides very fast oval section, which uses first and final oval turns,it has a tightening double apex hairpin,2 following left corners and 2 different sections of S-turns. One lap can be completed in around 53 seconds, making the 75 lap race around 7 minutes over 1 hour long.

S.Litmanen dominated the 1st round, which was run in very familiar Westhill circuit, now let's see who can adapt better to probably one of the least used configurations of LFS. With 4 rounds still ahead, everyone can jump into action and apply for high positions in standings of the season and great performance even challenge current leaders for championship title,as 1st round just draws possibilities.

Round info:
Track: Rockingham Sportscar w/o Chicane (RO11X)
Laps: 75
Previous winners: Botsi (2018), TEM/Y.Laprevotte (2017), Teho | Altsu (2016)

Second round at Rockingham offered racing on relatively unknown configuration, which also brought set of new problems, like setting up the car and getting used to few turn combinations. Not many were ready to take the challenge, even less - to complete it as just over half of starters finished, which turns into a trend in this year's VERL series.

Another trend for this season is S.Litmanen's domination - noone seems to be able to challenge him for race win and the finn led every single lap in this race, lapping all but 2nd place finisher on this short circuit. Oliver finished 20 seconds behind the winner in 2nd place,Rony was third already a lap down.

After 2 rounds there is no doubt about standings leader - S.Litmanen has scored all possible 44 points through first 2 rounds,17 more than 2nd place in standings Oliver. Ayoub Maroc is 3rd with 21 points gap and Rony is 4th with 22 points gap - no other driver theoretically can take standings lead after next round. In Rookie of the Year standings Fatass did not score a single point in this round, but still extended his margin by 1 point over Mandula as the latter lost one attendance bonus point due not attending.

Team S1DUS still leads Teams championship, but their lead has been reduced by one point - they're now 19 points in front of RGA,defending champions Medrecers-MLG Patronus has moved into 3rd position,35 points off the lead. In Nations cup standings Finland is dominating once again,Hungary is still second despite not scoring a singe point in 2nd round. Germany is now 3rd,just 1 point behind 2nd place. There is still not a single driver signed up for defending champions Poland.

VERL now starts the normal 2 weeks between rounds schedule - round 3 will take place in 11th october and it will be run on the very classic short configuration of Aston Club, famous for fast straights and shredding right front tyre under braking for final turn.
