Or maybe it's just that Turkey has been embroiled in conflict with Syria for a long time and doesn't give enough of a damn to help them?
Yes, and it makes this whole situation harder for everyone. USA and other western countries see Kurds in Syria as a good ally against ISIS and they are even supporting them with weapons and airstrikes. But now Turkey is bombing them and it's messing this whole thing even more.
Watch this, it's a 5min 24sec explination of who's fighting who. It is (US) biased but does a reasonable job of explaining things if you know little about the conflict. It's completely wrong on many points but is a good US primer. At least you'll have some idea.

Quote of the day belongs to this Turkish official: A Turkish official says Ankara received with astonishment Washington calls on Turkey to hold fire against U.S.-backed Kurdish forces in Syria. Turkish foreign ministry spokesman Tanju Bilgic told reporters such statements were received "with astonishment" ''because they put U.S. "ally Turkey and a terrorist organization in the same equation."

Well done that man !!!!!!!

If you actually want to know whats going on, this is worth watching.

Quick primer on your (NATO) team. After all, these are the 'good guys' that you support.....

And I'll ignore Al Qaeda/ISIL/ insert_latest_name_here that you also arm and support.

The (Armenian) genocide was carried out during and after World War I and implemented in two phases: the wholesale killing of the able-bodied male population through massacre and subjection of army conscripts to forced labour, followed by the deportation of women, children, the elderly and infirm on death marches leading to the Syrian desert. Driven forward by military escorts, the deportees were deprived of food and water and subjected to periodic robbery, rape, and massacre. Other indigenous and Christian ethnic groups such as the Assyrians and the Ottoman Greeks were similarly targeted for extermination by the Ottoman government, and their treatment is considered by some historians to be part of the same genocidal policy. Most Armenian diaspora communities around the world came into being as a direct result of the genocide.

When members of the special Turkish police unit Jitem arrived at night, Kurdish inhabitants of southeast Turkey knew there would be another disappearance. Investigators are now looking into the activities of this allegedly disbanded secretive organization from the 1990s -- and the 'death wells' where its victims were hidden.
http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/turkey-s-dirty-war-against-the-kurds-we-used-to-murder-people-at-night-when-the-soldiers-weren-t-around-a-627144.html

The United Nations’ top human rights official urged Turkey on Monday (4/2/2016) to investigate a report that the army shot unarmed civilians in the mainly Kurdish southeast, and expressed alarm at a crackdown on journalists and critics of the country’s government.

Zeid Ra’ad al-Hussein, the United Nations high commissioner for human rights, said Turkish authorities should open an independent investigation of the shooting in the southeastern town of Cizre.

The events were captured by what Mr. al-Hussein called an “extremely shocking” film by a Turkish journalist, which appears to show a group of people, some holding white flags, being shot at while they pushed a cart carrying bodies in view of an armored vehicle.

Opposition Turkish lawmakers say that the government is protecting and cooperating with ISIS and Al Qaeda terrorists, and providing free medical care to their leaders.

According to a leading Turkish newspaper (Today’s Zaman), Turkish nurses are sick of providing free medical treatment to ISIS terrorists in Turkish hospitals.

According to Pulitzer-prize winning reporter Seymour Hersh and leaked phone calls between top Turkish officials, Turkey also carried out the chemical weapons attack which has been blamed on Assad, and has planned other “false flag attacks” within Turkey.

Dateline 2014
!!!!
but, no one knows........., no one cares...........

Oh, wasn't there just a bombing in Turkey, MUST HAVE BEEN THE KURDS !!!!!!, Turkey would never carry out a false flag attack on itself, well, hardly ever, ok, there were all the ones in the past, but clearly not this time.

Because why would they do that now ????

What could they possible gain ??????????

Stockholm and Ankara now. At least 28 deaths in Ankara.
Lets name some names here now to make this conversation fun Smile

"Ahmet Davutolu: “Prime Minister said that in current conjuncture, this attack (on Suleiman Shah Tomb) must be seen as an opportunity for us.”

Hakan Fidan: “I’ll send 4 men from Syria, if that’s what it takes. I’ll make up a cause of war by ordering a missile attack on Turkey; we can also prepare an attack on Suleiman Shah Tomb if necessary.”

Feridun Sinirliolu: “Our national security has become a common, cheap domestic policy outfit.”"
http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2014/03/turkish-political-military-leaders-admit-planning-false-flag-terror-justify-war-syria.html

To summarize: a recording confirming a NATO-member country planned a false-flag war with Syria (where have we seen that before?) and all the Prime Minister has to say is the leak was “immoral.”

Erdogan is not amused:

Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan described the leaking on YouTube on Thursday of a recording of top security officials discussing possible military operations in Syria as “villainous” and the government blocked access to the video-sharing site.

“They even leaked a national security meeting. This is villainous, this is dishonesty…Who are you serving by doing audio surveillance of such an important meeting?” Erdogan declared before supporters at a rally ahead of March 30 local polls that will be a key test of his support amid a corruption scandal.

In other words, the Turkish Prime Minister has admitted that the tape is authentic .. and is between top Turkish military and political leaders.

This latest, latest, latest, latest, latest, (get the idea yet ?, and I was only up to Aug 2015 with those, BUT WAIT, THERE ARE MANY, MANY MORE....... !!!!!!!) attack,
It's either the Kurds, (or ISIS who have been blamed for earlier Turkish bombings (Remember team, 'OFFICIALLY' Turkey is fighting ISIS... )) being stupid, this is possible I admit.
Or It's Turkey looking at justifying starting WW3. Oh, and carrying on murdering Kurds... See my earlier post(s)

And one word; 'Gladio'
And if you don't understand what Gladio is/was, then you don't understand anything in this reality.
Gladio is 101 Geopolitics

Turkey
Main article: Counter-Guerrilla
As one of the nations that prompted the Truman Doctrine, Turkey is one of the first countries to participate in Operation Gladio and, some say, the only country where it has not been purged.
The counter-guerrillas' existence in Turkey was revealed in 1973 by then prime minister Bülent Ecevit.

Gladio and its “stay-behind” networks may be one of the most historically “accepted” or “confirmed” examples of false-flag terrorism. The documentation, the resolutions, confessions, and convictions all confirm that Gladio is much more than the media or government would have you believe—a mere “conspiracy theory.” See the State Department’s special site dedicated to dismissing “conspiracy theories,” including their page on Gladio.

..... should take advantage of Gladio and the stay-behind networks as a confirmed precedent of the US and western governments participating in ruthless terrorist attacks against their own people in order instill fear, control the population, and frame left-wing political opponents. People who believe that such things do not or cannot happen should be forcefully made aware of such examples as Operation Gladio.

Gladio B
"Blood and carnage arising from false flag terror attacks are nothing new to Europe. What became known as "Operation Gladio" emerged into public consciousness through a series of scandalous revelations in Italy and other NATO countries during the 90s. Swiss historian, Daniele Ganser, documents the operation in his 2004 book, NATO’s Secret Armies. However, as James Corbett explains, the cold war strategy of using right wing, "stay behind" operatives to sow fear and division morphed into using Islamist militants, creating Gladio B, a strategy which was fostered in Turkey. Turkish speaking FBI whistelblower, Sibel Edmonds, provided to US authorities copious documentary evidence of collusion between the US "deep state" and Gladio B but needless to say, was sacked from her job even though her allegations were accepted as true."

Very off this specific topic, but for the UK readers, on the very same theme.....

"Half of all senior IRA members in the Troubles were working for intelligence services, a secret dossier of evidence into the murder of two RUC men has claimed."

"However, court documents leaked to the Sunday Herald show that Magee, head of the IRA's infamous 'internal security unit', was trained as a member of Britain's special forces. The IRA's 'torturer-in-chief' was in reality one of the UK's most elite soldiers.

The documents, lodged as part of a court action being taken against the British government by a disgruntled military intelligence agent, name Magee as a 'former member of the Special Boat Squadron'.

The SBS is the marine equivalent to the SAS, with many in its ranks drafted from the Royal Marines, as in Magee's case. IRA sources say that Magee had left the SBS by the time he joined the Provisionals. However, the public disclosure of his time as a member of the special forces will fuel speculation that Magee was an informer for the British.

Magee died recently in Dundalk, Ireland, from a heart condition. Since his death, the IRA has been embroiled in a catalogue of disclosures that some of its most respected members were working for British military intelligence."

There are so very, very many more clearly documented historic facts on the above subject, but I may save those for a later thread...... Smile
When your forum posts are longer than a certain body part.
Also, most of the problems with the Troubles stems from a religious divides between protestants in Northern Ireland and the Catholic in NI. The idea that the Irish in the south "sold out" their Catholic brethren at first was a problem. Soon the IRA moved towards a tactic of "united Ireland at all costs". But with the IRA going for an aggresive tactic, we saw quite a few under covers as well. How donyou think Michael Collins got all of his information from the Castle and even managed to get into the library to get all their files on the IRA at one point. I believe it was a G-man named Eamon Broy, but could be wrong. I'm sure there are other examples and doesn't surprise me that their members go up as far as Special Forces. Remember the Irish were subjects of Britain, but also were Irish. Best way to server your real country was to "serve" your other country?
I try not to limit my post size by the length of my nose..........

Force Research Unit
The FRU used double agents to infiltrate Irish republican and Ulster loyalist paramilitary groups.[2] Its existence was revealed in the 1990s by the Stevens Inquiries. The inquiries found that—in its efforts to defeat the Provisional IRA—the FRU used these agents to help loyalists to kill people, including civilians. This has been confirmed by some former members of the unit.[3] The unit also mounted undercover surveillance operations.

Fr Denis Faul who, among other things, was at one time chaplain to the Republican prisoners in the Maze, also believed that McGuinness (and most of the IRA leadership ?) were British agents:
"Faul often would tell them [warning his pupils], “it will sooner or later emerge that your commanding officer was a tout, and that his commanding officer was a tout too. And whilst you’re rotting away, they will be getting off scot-free.”

"Basically its obvious then that the Republican paramilitary groups were just as much in the pocket of the British intelligence agencies as the loyalist groups and yet if that is the case then clearly those agencies, and indeed the occupying British army, had to be there for some other reason than the suppression of terrorism because the 'terrorism' was all along their carefully nurtured baby. My tuppence worth on that question is that the troubles were an Irish version of the Italian 'strategy of tension'. This strategy was so called by the Italian Prime Minister Giulio Andreotti and describes the reason why the Italian intelligence agencies, in alliance with those of the US and the UK, sponsored terrorism in Italy in the 70s and 80s. Basically they wanted to scare people into supporting those agencies and accompanying draconian security legislation etc."

TIL - Also called Gladio.

And back to Turkey, but the same conversation BECAUSE.........

"Turkey has identified the suicide bomber who killed at least 28 and injured 61 in an attack in Ankara Wednesday night as Saleh Nejar, a member of the Syrian Kurdish Peoples Protection Units (YPG).
Nejar was identified by fingerprints given when he entered Turkey with, it is believed, refugees fleeing the civil war."

OK, suicide bomber, "A vehicle full of explosives", car blown apart, burned out, 2 buses burned out, a very large explosion and fire. So where exactly were his fingerprints after that ????
And so quickly discovered???, The Turks are making TV's CSI look snail slow there !

Maybe his fingers miraculously flew off his hands and, completely undamaged, appeared at the closest Police Station allowing his identity to be discovered.

And, it just so happen's that the bomber is a member of the very group that the US supports, but Turkey hates because they don't like Kurds.

Gosh, what an amazing coincidence, who would have guessed that ????

"Davutoglu said the attack was clear evidence that the YPG, a Syrian Kurdish militia that has been supported by the United States in the fight against Islamic State in northern Syria, was a terrorist organisation and that Turkey, a NATO member, expected cooperation from its allies in combating the group."

Quote from Racer X NZ :"Long Saudis armored columns entered Jordan and moving towards the Syrian border, where the British and the armies of several Arab countries will participate in maneuvers called “Thunder”, for which the London newspapers say they represent the exercise of opposing Russia.

British authorities have denied the claim of London´s Telegraph magazine, but remained unambiguous about the decision that they send to Jordan about 1,600 troops and 300 units of combat techniques.

Near the Jordanian-Syrian border is now deployed several hundred combat vehicles of Saudi Arabia which announced that with the approval of the United States is ready to enter Syria. All under the pretext of the fight against the Islamic State, which is actually not along the border of Syria and Jordan, but only so-called moderate opposition supported by the West and the various factions of al-Qaeda.

These terrorist formations are facing defeat and are faced with rebellions in the Syrian cities which are kept under control. It is remarkable that representatives of the so-called moderate Syrian opposition returned last week from failed negotiations in Geneva back by the private jet in the Saudi capital of Riyadh.

A similar situation is in the north of Syria where the formations of Jabhat al-Nusra, Jaish al-Fatah, Jaish al-Islam and the so-called moderate opposition rattle between Aleppo and the Turkish border.

Ankara earns fortunes on trade from stolen Syrian oil, but the Russian intervention restrains also the Neo-Ottoman ideology according to which all the countries of the former Ottoman Empire shall be under the influence of Turkey."

This is just posted for info, It's a bit unclear and the UK post probably actually related to the just announced exercise called 'Thunder' that magicly places troops on the Syrian border. I realise most of you only believe what your media says, Fine....

The point I'm making is this is about to get rather nasty, good to see the UK have chosen to sacrifice some troops. Even the US is keeping clear of this one.

And if you only want to moan, don't bother reading the thread, or is that too hard for you ?

You need to remember that ISIS and Al Qaeda, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, et al are your team. Your media tells you to support (some of) them, you arm them and if any other nation attacks your team you get upset.

Yes, you must hate Russia, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, because they are the enemy.

You main dichotomy is that you are pretending to fight ISIS, Al Queda, El Nusra, while your supporting, arming, and buying their stolen oil. And they are fighting for you. I'm not surprised you are all confused about whats going on.

Turkey has already been caught transporting, re arming ISIS, Al Qaeda groups in the last couple of days. Israel has armed these groups as well as provided medical care.
Do grow up and learn who your allies are !

Ever hear the old saying about throwing rocks and glass houses?
OK. So we have psychos that gun down politicians because their pet told them to do so. We have people with agendas sowing disinformation and assorted negative gossip about politicians. We even have anarchistic cranks like my self going to politicians support sites and trolling the crap out of them, but us Americans have our limits.
We don't throw sex toys at our politicians, no matter how bad they suck.
You got that, A Prime Minister that has a thing for tugging pig tails and now you're messing with your flag after everyone finally figured out which one was yours.
What the hell is going on with your country? Is huffing paint legal in New Zealand? No. It's all that notpot y'all are smoking. Yeah must be that.
And I thought we were going over the deep end with frankenfood and fracking for earthquakes......
Clearly a few post's behind there dude.

And from whats being said about Hillary, it would be a great idea to smack her in the face with the fore mentioned. You guys should try it !!! Maybe an email server for her would be more fitting ?

Cus, our PM really is a bit of a d!(#@.

And as he was working with Merrill Lynch, then the New York fed stealing his multi millions, we like to think he's really one of you, hence the face plant with you know what.

In NZ that is actually a VERY long standing local tradition (... he was greeted with abusive haka composed specially for his visit. This culminated in the act of whakapohane (performers baring their buttocks in contempt for an unwelcome visitor).)

Maybe you guys just need to adjust your limits. Omg omg omg

You don't do that to Hillary. If you did, your private parts would catch on fire or something and bizarre freak accidents would happen to your surviving relatives. Like finding one that died by having swallowed 2400 locusts at once. You mess with her, it's like messing with Revelations/Necronomicon type stuff.

.....This culminated in the act of whakapohane (performers baring their buttocks in contempt for an unwelcome visitor).)
we call that mooning here. It used to be considered a something of a prank. Thanks to hypersensitivity, political correctness and mass paranoia in general now it technically falls under indecent exposure statutes and considered a sexual offense like rape and child molestation. One that pretty much cost a friend his life. He's doing something like 20 years on crap all piled up on him being out drunk somewhere and mooning a couple of girls that were a couple of years under 18 in some hick town in the dreaded bible belt. No, not a perv, just drunk... Nice guy. Just not a very smart one. When he gets out, he'll pretty much be useless mental wise. And then he'll be past retirement age at that. On good behavior, he might get out in '26 That's plenty of enough time for him to live up to being a lonely derelict, dying in some skid row boarding house.
Too bad he didn't have celebrity status like performers do, huh?
Yeah, I miss that dude.... some of the crazy stuff we used to get into. Someone forgot to tell him the nineties ended.
And we'll leave the US to ponder it's election, worthy of it's own thread, (not here please,) when you look at the blatant lies, cheating, bribery, corruption, and that's well before we get to the Clinton death toll or the US voting machines..........

So, this seems to be the NATO (EU) response to Turkey;

"“NATO cannot allow itself to be pulled into a military escalation with Russia as a result of the recent tensions between Russia and Turkey,” Luxembourg Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn told Der Spiegel.

Of Article 5, Asselborn stressed that “the guarantee is only valid when a member state is clearly attacked.”

Germany appears to agree.

“We are not going to pay the price for a war started by the Turks,” said a German diplomat, speaking on condition of anonymity.

“We have to avoid that situations, incidents, accidents spiral out of control,” NATO General Secretary Jens Stoltenberg said at the time. “I think I’ve expressed very clearly that we are calling for calm and de-escalation. This is a serious situation.”

On Friday, French President Francois Hollande stressed the need to prevent conflict between Moscow and Ankara.

“There is a risk of war between Turkey and Russia,” he said in an interview with France Inter radio."

And ignore Obama and his comments, The Pentagon is clearly moving in it's own direction.

"... the Pentagon has revealed it gave the Russian military the locations of US special forces in Syria, in the hope Russian aircraft would avoid the area. “We provided a geographical area that we asked them to stay out of because of the risk to US forces,” Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook told reporters Thursday, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The request was an attempt to maintain special forces’ safety “in a dangerous situation.” It was made outside the scope of the flight safety memorandum, Cook said.

Up to this point, the Russian military “has honored this request,” he added."

Air Force Lieutenant General Charles Brown Jr., head of the US Air Force Central Command, told journalists in a briefing from his office in Qatar that the request to Russia was informal.

“I don’t have any assurances, really, from the Russians. But we told them … these general areas where we have coalition forces. And we don’t want them to strike there because all it’s going to do is escalate things,” Brown told reporters, as quoted by the Military Times.

“The Russians have actually outlined some areas — some of the airfields that they're worried about, that they don't want us flying close to, and really, typically, we don't fly there anyway. So, that hasn't been an issue.”

Lt. Gen. Brown repeatedly referred to “operational security” and declined to say publicly where US special forces troops are operating in Syria.
A great article here;

"Maybe the Turkish military ought to realize that the country is ruled by the madman and do something about it?

Still, the Russians are taking no chances and they have put all their forces into high alert. They have very publicly dispatched a Tu-214r – her most advanced ISR (Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance) aircraft. You can think of the Tu-214R as an “AWACS for the ground”, the kind of aircraft you use to monitor a major ground battle (the regular Russian A-50Ms are already monitoring the Syrian airspace). In southern Russia, the Aerospace forces have organized large-scale exercises involving a large number of aircraft which would be used in a war against Turkey: SU-34s. The Airborne Forces are ready. The naval task forces off the Syrian coast is being augmented. The delivery of weapons has accelerated. The bottom line is simple and obvious: the Russians are not making any threats – they are preparing for war. In fact, by now they are ready.

This leaves an important question to be asked: what would the Russians do if their still relatively small force in Syria is attacked and over-run by the Turks? Would the Russian use nuclear weapons?

At least one reporter, Robert Perry, has written the following: “A source close to Russian President Vladimir Putin told me that the Russians have warned Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that Moscow is prepared to use tactical nuclear weapons if necessary to save their troops in the face of a Turkish-Saudi onslaught”. Is that really possible? Would the Russians really use nuclear weapons of things get ugly in Syria?

The Russian Military Doctrine is very clear on the use of nuclear weapons by Russia. This is the relevant paragraph:

27. The Russian Federation reserves the right to use nuclear weapons in response to the use against her and (or) her allies of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction, as well as in the case of aggression against the Russian Federation with the use of conventional weapons in a way which would threaten her very existence as a state. The decision to use nuclear weapons is taken by the President of the Russian Federation.

There is no ambiguity here. Unless Russia is threatened as a state she will not use nuclear weapons. Some will, no doubt, say that the official military doctrine is one thing, but the reality in Syria is another one and if the Turks overrun Khmeimin Russia will have no other option than to use nukes. There is a precedent for that kind of logic: when the US deployed the 82nd Airborne in Saudi Arabia as part of Desert Shield the Pentagon fully understood that if the much larger Iraqi army invaded Saudi Arabia the 82nd would be destroyed. It was hoped that the USAF and USN could provide enough air sorties to stop the Iraqi advance, but if not it was understood that tactical nuclear weapons would be used."

Do you even read the bull shit you spew? Half of it contradicts itself or is outright ridiculous.

By the way, what is your opinion on the issue of Jerusalem? Granted there's a larger issue than just that, but I want to see if you are even capable of writing and deducing your own arguments. Or if you just copy and paste bull shit.
Ah, a great US response. If you want to claim a contradiction why not point it out ?

The issue of Jerusalem ?

1: Not related to Turkey, so the wrong thread.
(Feel free to use the 'Through the glass' thread to discuss this topic if it is really important to you. Or start your own, it's an interesting topic.)

2: If you mean Israel and Syria, then it's well known that they (Israel) are arming ISIS and Al Quada, providing medical treatment to UN designated terrorists and have carried out airstrikes in Syria. This will probably now stop as Russia, given the evidence of Israel arming terrorists is now providing equipment to Hezbollah.

Do try to post facts here rather than vague unsupported accusations Big grin

And, given the cease fire agreeed on Monday 22 Feb, maybe this message to the US helped.

RMoD Press Spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov delivered a brilliant run down of their ‘Western partners’ at a press briefing on their actions in Syria held on February 12, 2016. Interestingly, the culprits are starting to be called out by name.

A few selected statements:

“As was previously promised to our American partners, this information will not remain hidden any more. Yesterday at 13:55 (MSK), two U.S. Air Force A-10 attack aircraft entered Syrian air space from Turkey and reaching Aleppo by the shortest path, made strikes against objects in the city… For some reason, Colonel Warren did not make this mission publicly known in the literal or even figurative sense.”

“If it keeps going this way, the Russian MoD will have to hold two briefings each time: One for the Russian side and another for those guys from the coalition who consider themselves professionals.”

The A10's hit the Dr's without Borders hospital in Aleppo, that the US has now stopped (as Russia had no flights in the area that day) blaming Russia for destroying......
That hasn't made your media either, who knows why not ???????

If you want to comment, watch this first !! Then come up with your claims regarding factual information.
Lets just post this and see how the truth comes...

"The JeruSALEM Post
Report: Dozens of Russian generals in Syria killed after a car bomb hits their military base"

This allegedly happened 20 Feb 2016. This is the first I've heard but, maybe I missed Jew News......
http://www.jpost.com/Middle-East/Report-Dozens-of-Russian-generals-in-Syria-killed-after-a-car-bomb-hits-their-military-base-445975

Now, who got caught arming Al Quada/ISIS on the same date ? Mortors, mines, etc.....
I've heard nothing of the above post, but lets see who can post further info. ???

You know, as far as the Syrian Conflict goes, there's a whole group of people that are virtually ignored in all of it. These people are very important too. But you rarely if ever hear about them and how the conflict has affected them. We hear all about the Kurdish folks, but there's a group of people in that region that are equally, if not more affected by what's going on. That's the Druse Muslims. They straddle the Israeli Syrian border and pretty much have the run of the Golan Heights.
These people have held key positions in both the Israeli and Syrian Governments. Yet we never hear anything about them and what they're into.
You'd think they'd be a big factor in how all that plays out.
Your desire is but a short Google search away Big grin

"The Druse have been so determined to stay out of Syria’s multisided war that some community elders have at times threatened to deny burial rites to anyone killed fighting outside his hometown.

The Druse areas are under regime control and all outward signs indicate loyalty to Mr. Assad. But internally, there is a struggle between the majority who want to remain neutral at any cost and defend themselves and those pulling in the direction of one side or another in the conflict.

In Idlib province, home to the only Druse enclave in northern Syria, two dozen Druse had just been killed in a shootout with Nusra Front (Racer X: that's Al Queda) that broke out after residents of a Druse village tried to stop a foreign fighter from seizing one of their homes.

Under pressure from their foreign supporters, Mr. Zoabi and other rebel commanders decided to postpone their move on the air base to avoid the risk of clashes with the Druse."

This is a Wall St Journal report (US Propoganda) and shortly predates (Aug 2015) the Russians getting involved. At this time the US wanted the Druse to join with the moderates (Al Qaeda). It pays to read well and truly between the lines to get what is really being said here. Smoke and Mirrors etc Big Eye
But it is well worth a read.

Syria is happy with them staying neutral and, unlike Turkey, Syria see's no reason to murder ethnic minorities who, like the Kurds are a part of a current Middle East Country.
This is pure, comedic gold. If this doesn't show what a complete Fluster Cluck US policy is then nothing will.

Right, grab a drink and a comfy chair.......

Two of the militias in Syria are currently fighting each other between Aleppo, Marea and the Turkish border. Key point is FIGHTING EACH OTHER.

Militia A: The Knights of Righteousness (yeah, seriously, that's their name) recently got their asses kicked up between their shoulder blades by,

Militia B: The Syrian Democratic Forces, who at least have the decency to try not to sound like a band of Marvel Comics superheroes.

Here's the fun part: The Knights of Righteousness (yeah, that really is what they call themselves) have been armed and funded by -- wait for it -- the Central Intelligence Agency. Their opponents, the Syrian Democratic Forces, have been armed and funded by the Pentagon. Ergo, based upon the most recent battle in Marea, the Defense Department went to war with the CIA half a world away.

Once upon a time, during the "good old days" of the Cold War, we fought proxy wars against the Soviet Union and their allies. Now, we fight proxy wars between various departments of our own federal government, using your tax dollars to buy the bullets and the bombs. Thunder has more sense. Newborn kittens are more clever. Stones at least have the wisdom to sit still.

This? This reeks of the most prolonged and expensive blunder in the modern history of the North American continent, and that's one hell of a statement. Even after 25 years of war in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, we weren't giving weapons to our people so they could shoot our people. After another 25 years of war in Iraq, that's exactly where we are.

This is even in the US media !!!!!!

Quote from Racer Y :They straddle the Israeli Syrian border and pretty much have the run of the Golan Heights.
These people have held key positions in both the Israeli and Syrian Governments. Yet we never hear anything about them and what they're into.

Having been to this part of Israel and being told by a local [not saying they are right], it seems the people of the Golam heights are tired of the fighting after the area having been contested for so long. The community is also divided because there's literally towns split along boarders of the countries. The running joke is that you can yell to the other side of a valley and be talking to your aunt in the next country over. So these people suffer a level of disunity, oppression, and no desire to be involved in more armed conflict. From what I gathered.

BTW: on a rare clear night with no fog, you can look across the Sea of Galilee towards the Golan Heights, and look at the towns on the hills creating a very cool skyline. The electrical flow there is different and you can watch the different villages lights sort of eb in and out, pretty cool visual effects.
Seeing as you quickly changed the subject from my post.......

I strongly suggest that a separate thread for Palestine would be a great idea, But I really understand why you would want to avoid my post and change subject ASAP.......

"The infighting between American proxies is the latest setback for the Obama administration’s Syria policy and lays bare its contradictions as violence in the country gets worse.

The confusion is playing out on the battlefield — with the U.S. effectively engaged in a proxy war with itself.

***

Furqa al-Sultan Murad receives weapons from the U.S. and its allies as part of a covert program, overseen by the CIA, that aids rebel groups struggling to overthrow the government of Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, according to rebel officials and analysts tracking the conflict.

The Kurdish militants, on the other hand, receive weapons and support from the Pentagon as part of U.S. efforts to fight ISIS. Known as the People’s Protection Units, or YPG, they are the centerpiece of the Obama administration’s strategy against the extremists in Syria and coordinate regularly with U.S. airstrikes.
(And see this story from the Telegraph.)

The U.S. is supporting the Kurds, who are the best on-the-ground fighters against ISIS … yet America’s close ally Turkey is trying to wipe out the Kurds.

Moreover, the U.S., Turkey and Saudi Arabia are all using the Incerlik air base in Adana, Turkey, on the border with Syria to launch military operations in Syria.

The U.S. is using Incerlik to SUPPORT the Kurds, but Turkey is using the EXACT SAME air base to BOMB the Kurds.

In addition, the U.S. is supporting Shia Muslims in Iraq … but supporting their arch-enemy – Sunnis Muslims – in neighboring Syria.

And the U.S. claims to be fighting the war on terror AGAINST the exact same groups – ISIS and Al Qaeda – that our closest allies are SUPPORTING.

Absolutely insane …

# Unless the U.S. is really pursuing an agenda in which chaos is the goal."

I thought, what with you being from the US of A and all, you may like to comment on the above story ............

(And don't, under any circumstances EVER read # this, the whole situation may make sense if you read that, so don't..... Smile)

"......But I'll tell you what they don't want. They don't want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don't want well-informed, well-educated people capable of critical thinking.
They're not interested in that! That doesn't help them. That's against their interests. That's right! You know something? They don't want people who are smart enough to sit around the kitchen table and figure out how badly they're getting ****ed by a system that threw them overboard 30 **** years ago. They don't want that! You know what they want? They want Obedient Workers – Obedient Workers. People who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork but just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shittier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime and the vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it.
And, now, they're coming for your Social Security money. They want your **** retirement money. They want it back, so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street. And you know something? They'll get it. They'll get it all from you, sooner or later, because they own this **** place. It's a big club - and you ain't in it! You and I are not in the big club.

By the way, it's the same big club they use to beat you over the head with all day long and they tell you what to believe...All day long, beating you over the head in the media, what to believe, what to think and what to buy...The table is tilted, folks! The game is rigged! And nobody seems to notice, and nobody seems to care! Good honest, hard-working people! White collar, blue collar... Doesn't matter what color shirt you have on! Good honest, hard-working people continue...These are people of modest means!...continue to elect these rich cocksuckers who don't give a **** about them! They don't give a **** about you! They don't give a **** about you! They don't care about you! At all! At all! At all! Yeah! You know?
And nobody seems to notice, nobody seems to care. That's what the owners count on. The fact that Americans probably will remain willfully ignorant of the big red white and blue dick that's being jammed up their ****s every day! Because the owners of this country know the truth - it's called the American Dream: because you have to be asleep to believe it."

Why do you think so many Americans are sick of Syria and really would rather let it be Putin's baby? When you fund a guerilla war, you fund ONE faction and support it. Especially in a civil war like this one. You're going off about Israel.... And BMX was describing the Golan Heights.
That's who I find a little interesting are the folks in that area. The Druse. Israel should use them to take over all the Golan heights and the area north of it and make it Israel. See when everyone talks about Israel - they limit everything to it being Jewish. It's not. It's Jewish dominated. Know how many redneck Christian zionists had a near heart attack when they found out about Islamic Generals in the "Jewish" army?
The Kurds...They're "our muslims"....Til they go back to honor killing once this is all over.
I'm in the crowd that thinks we should get the hell away from there.
Unfortunately we are pretty much owned by the Israelis and the Saudis.
So we're kinda stuck being overly involved there.
There's really no real shady conspiracy of oligarchs like you've been led to believe. It's just common sense politics and economics turned into one hell of a high stakes poker game. all that big brother corporate mumbo-jumbo? A system that entrenched in short-sighted greed could've never attained such heights to be able to accomplish all that. Too many underlings on the ladder yanking the ones above off and teh ones below them doing it to them. How COULD the powers that be focus on anything more than their own survival in an environment like that. YOu should really be wondering why YOUR country is throwing sex toys at it's leaders. And what can you do to fix things there instead worrying about what some thirty something that lives with his parents in Indiana is posting on the internet about Walmart's plan for world domination and trying to build things up from there.
As far as refugees ans asylum seekers goes? There's a whole planet out there for them to go to. Instead of them going to Euroland like now, send them to Third world countries. Places where these people's skills can be needed and utilized instead of places where they become economic competitors on the job market for the host nationals.
How many of those people we see running around in southern Europe are actually Engineers or financial or medical professionals? How many are highly skilled laborers?
If it were me. Like if I was telecommunication engineer tired of getting shot at, I'd much rather go to Guyana where there's a future as long as I pursue it as opposed to Austria, where I'd be lucky just to get assistance and if I'm really lucky, a job interview.
Doesn't that make more sense than the current nonsense?
RacerX, maybe you need a geography lesson. The Golam heights is the location of intersecting borders of 5 countries: Palestine (disputed), Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan.

Christ. Before you criticize my post get your shit right. ps: those maps are very good, but doesn't show the last 6 years of land grabs. Wonder if any numbers or maps exist of that.
