Has anyone already posted for a "mid" XF between the GTI and the GTR ?

A good balance would be an XF-T with the body+chassis of the GTI, wider wheels and wheel wells and a 150-160 HP mill that would produce faster acceleration at mid-range. A tricky time-lagged turbo would be delightful.

Yeah. Eric already made it a few years ago. Its called the FXO.

And... why? At 160bhp it would be a class of its own, as it wouldn't be able to keep up with the TBO cars - it would need about 190 to archieve that. And if it does that, we have a FXO clone.

Heh, no, the FXO would be quite faster.
But then again you're right, the characteristic would probably be the same.

And that would be bad/unusual/unrealistic why? I'd like a faster road-going hot-hatch, along the lines of Clio Cup/Trophy or even Civic Type-R, but I'd rather it were normally aspirated. I'm also well aware that there are much bigger gaps in the vehicle line-up that could be filled first, and with much more entertaining and exciting cars too.

Why does everything need a direct competator? Ever notice in REAL racing wherever there are multiple cars, that no 2 different ones are perfectly equal? (NASCAR and the like aside, as those bare next to no resemblance to the road-going counterparts.)

ALMS/LMES : Corvettes and Astons always on top, but the corvettes are clearly superior. The Saleen pokes its head in there every now and then, but can't shake a stick at the vette.

Audi R8 and also the R10 are miles ahead of the competition. Porsche RS Spyder can compete for overall wins, and it's a P2 car.

One-make series usually provide the best racing aswell. As much as I hate Nissan Primeras, the best race I have ever seen was an all stock Nissan Primera race at Mosport a few years ago.

I'm in favour of a faster XF model. Or another street car in its own class.

but in Live for Speed we can choose what car we drive, eg the fastest one? illepall if you put todays cars in lfs we would all be racing R8's why because thats the fastest. you need balancing.

a competitor doesnt have to be equal, but it does have to be competetive, if it isnt then it isnt a competitor, get it?

The "XFT" would be way way lighter. None the less... I agree - why bother?

RWD race car with 2 litre engine around 250 hp and slicks would be great
can't really see a reason to add any more XF cars.. 2 is enough IMO

I think a more modern XF GTi should be made... and possibly one with a turbo to give it that usual 'sporty' model type.

Because if you think about it, the GTi right now in S2 is like some old late 80's early 90's car. We need a much rounder and modern style now, for most of the cars actually .

I told this many times, once again. Touring cars. Yes. XR, FXO, RB4 with slicks, some body kits for more downforce, a bit more power and you won! W/E/BTCC alike!

Oh yeah, a race prepped TBO class or a direct (RWD) competitor to the XFR/UFR would be great. Currently TBO is too heavy/gripless while the GTR class is kinda too fast, and XFR/UFR are almost perfect but somewhat boring with only FWD.

I was thinking more about making the TBO class race prepared to be competitiors for the UFR and the XFR. That would mean no rallycross tyres, however, they would have more downforce, maybe even adjustable, but then the UFR and XFR would have to be edited. No prob for the XFR, it already does have wings, a slight problem for the UFR though. Maybe Eric can sneak that into the update (the UFR mesh is supposed not to be finished yet).

I have to agree with the fact that a turbo would turn the XF into a short wheelbase lightweight FXO.

But let me tell you about my "old geek" game habits (I am 38) : I mostly play LFS with good ol' friends at lunch break on the corp LAN. We enjoy this marvellous game because it is so close to the fun we have on track days with our real cars. We don't care for more power or this Sauber "game of it's own on wheels" because we do not have the skills, the peripherals and the dedication level of you "hardcore racers". In fact, we see LFS as an extension of our road and track habits. LFS is the only car sim I know where we can race side-by-side for more than a minute without any "the loser will be the winner" algorithmic annoyance. This code is made by guys that KNOW cars, love cars and the pleasures of motor racing (which is part of the english DNA according to my santa pod weekends memories).

Forget about that XF-T, I want my civic -R in that game 8-)
