annoying connection problem
So, lately I've been losing connection all the time in LFS on servers with more than 15 people, (more or less), but the tricky part is...that LFS is the only game I loose connection in :S I've tried almost everything graphic-wise and doing serveral internet speed test per day, nothing. And something very very wierd...my internet is 3 times stronger than it was before I moved, and the old connection NEVER got thrown off a server :S

just ask if you need any more info about this.

I really hope you guys can help, this is the greatest sim of all time :O
Running quick test for packet loss %. http://www.pingtest.net/. I've no idea if its the cause - but maybe worth checking?

By 3 times stronger, what do you mean? Upgraded from a i.e. 5 Mbit to 15 Mbit?

when I say 3 times stronger, I mean the that it went up :-)

just did a speed test to show/demonstrate.

my download speed is 5.94 Mbit
and my upload speed is 24.82 Mbit

dunno if it's even good, or bad...but People I play with ways it's pretty darn good :P
just did the test you linked, don't know anything at all about those numbers :O

but here they are:

packet loss 4%
ping 26 ms
jitter 30 ms

and some sort of grade saying "C" and that I should be concerned and so on...but I don't get it? LFS is the ONLY one of my games that have this problem
Quote :Packet Loss:
Much as it sounds, if you have anything less than complete success in transmitting and receiving "packets" of data then you are experiencing this problem with your Internet connection. It can mean much slower download and upload speeds, poor quality VoIP audio, pauses with streaming media and what seems like time warping in games -- your connection may even come to a total standstill! Packet loss is a metric where anything greater than 0% should cause concern.

Line Quality - Grade C:
Acceptable. Your VoIP quality will suffer some, and you will have a disadvantage in many online games. Most streaming media will be fine. You should try testing again to another server close to you.

Thats not LFS-related. I think its the packet loss thats causing LFS' loss connection errors.

Test your connection several times during the day, and save the link to the results (click "direct link") i.e. http://www.pingtest.net/result/33290202.png

Once you've established that you're getting packet loss of more than 0% a lot of time during the day, call your ISP and tell then you're having trouble with the connection. Email the links to the results if necessary.

Now... Most of the stuff I've mention here are stuff that I've read about from this forum (older threads), so they might/might not be helpful. Hopefully someone with better knowledge about these things will help you out.

But I'm pretty sure your packet loss it the cause for the loss connections.

thanks :-) kinda hoped it was some sort of firewall thing that I missed :P I don't have any chances of changing anything about the internet, since I live with my dad....and I bet he won't get into this, just so I can play a game on my PC :P
Hi all!
I also have problems connected with speed! Can you tell me any better site for checking speed than http://chinaspeedtest.net???
Thanks a lot in advance!

Try out the Pingtest link above somewhere :-)

too much package loss is the reason I keep dropping out, mine is about 11%
My closest server with the disgrace of an ISP "Sky" is absolutely miles away. Milton Keynes to be exact. No wonder I get such a shite connection and the customer service really does make you want to headbut the ****ing router just so you don't have to live through the torture of a shite internet.
