Help about new Grapics card + power supply
Grapics card + power supply
Hello guys, next week im planning to buy a new power supply with a new Graphic card, What I want to know is if my power supply will be enough powerfull for my graphics card and if the graphics card is a good one.

The card I want to bough is an Nvidia GeForce GT 220 or about 90 bucks (CAD):
Nvidia Website:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_geforce_gt_220_us.html

And the power supply is a thermaltake of 500W for about 60 bucks (CAD)
Spec From the website:

The question is, did I will have enough of 500W from this power supply or

Should I buy a 650W power supply:

I want to know if the graphics card I want to buy is a GOOD ONE as well as the power supply.

Dont come here and say bought another card, I just want to know if its a GOOD ONE

my computer spec are:

AMD standard desktop motherboard (idk how its named exactly)
AMD Phenom X4 9500 Quad Core
4GB of RAM
1 hard drive of 640GB (7200 RPM I beleive)
16in1 Card reader front bay
Ati Radeon HD3200 (integrated to the motherboard) Will probably change it for the card I mentioned above if you said to me its a good one.
2 Fan (1 of 80mm)(1 of 70mm I beleive for the core)
1 DVDRW-CDRW
Windows 7 Home prenium OS
9 USB 2.0 connector (6 that im currently using including 1 for my G25)
300 watts power supply

Your answer would be really helpfull.

Thanks in advance for you response.

I got comparison beetween GeForce GT 220 and GeForce 9500 GT on the picture at the bottom of the page

For a Geforce 9400, any power supply will do, even a 300W power supply would be more than enough. However, the 9400 is an old card, you should go for a newer card.

I edited my first post please rad it carefully please
The Geforce 220 is an ok card, but I would go for at least a 240 or 250. The 220 is not really aimed for gaming, it won't give you very good fps. The 9500 is kinda old, but still ok because it's a little faster than the 220.
yea but why on the picture allmost everything is better with the 220 ? also the clock is higher and the graphic performance are 6x for the 220 and only 4x for 9500, so why did you said 9500 is faster ?
Sorry to say that, but both 9500GT and GT200 are cheapo crap which will struggle hard even with current games, not to mention any future titles. I don't think you need 650W PSU, something about 500W sould be enough, but be aware that this overall wattage doesn't say much about the PSU performance.
I recommend you either HD 4670 or GT 240, especially the 4670 should cost about the same as GT 220 and provides better performance. If you're on a tight budget, I think you can spare quadcore CPU in favor of a better GPU, Phenom X3 will do just fine.
Yea but what did I just said Above dont come here only to say me its a crappy card, I just ask if its a good one and I know that its will be for sure better than my ATI radeon HD3200 integrated graphic card, didnt you agree ?, what I want its only good FPS in LFS and I want to run LFS with high graphics or close too, so, Im just asking which card would be better, the 9500 GT or the GT 220, I just didnt got the budget for a 240 or anything, and i will stay with my quad core no chance I will change that, forget it, Im just asking what the best one, the 9500 GT or the GT 220
Cause I need information on that seriously, I need to choose beetween those 2 cards and want to know what the best one
good compared to what?? You got reasonably answers..

good compared to what else you can get for the budget = No (as written here)

good to play LFS = most likely (because my 8600gt can)

btw where is our comparison from? go to an independet site, i'd say.

the 9500 GT or the GT 220

Your asking if its a good card, if its not then why cant they say its crappy? lol..

9500GT or the GT220

If you look at this review,
http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gt-220-review-test/6

You can see that the card isnt very good, I would recommend something like a Nvidia 9800 GT, its about $100 (CAD)..

It would perform much better than the GT220..

As for the Power supply Im sure 500W would be enough..

There might be better cards out there for the price your paying though
well the 9800 GT is far from 100$ CAD lol its arround 160$ CAD
that the 512MB, i want to 1GB version as its will be way better
Quote from jamie3 :that the 512MB, i want to 1GB version as its will be way better

Links to prove that?
Also, there are 2 1GB DDR3 cards in that link at ~$110.
Well that not where I want to bough them, i didnt buy via internet

You dont need 1GB on a 9500 / GT220, 512 MB is more than enough.

Not that you want to listen to anyone anyway
